Wildlife Photography

Never easy, but worth the attempt...

This is one of my first fairly successful shots. This was taken outside United Airlines World Headquarters building. There is a substantial pond on the premises which is used by Canadian Geese, seagulls, mallard ducks, and one heron (that ever I saw). The photo here was taken in early spring 1998, when the geese were establishing their mates and nesting areas and were very touchy about intrusions. This scene is precisely that: the goose on the right is demonstrating his displeasure with the intrusive male on the left, who retreats before this display of righteous wrath.

Scenes from the wetlands at Pescadero, 40 minutes south of San Francisco.

The waves come crashing in.

Great Blue Heron making his getaway (far away).

Marbled Godwit prancing along the beach.

Little Sanderlings feeding off the incoming tide, like little wind-up toys they follow the waves out and retreat nervously away from them as they rush in.
