From the back yard:



There are a small number of local hummingbirds, the one on the left is an early shot, taken with low light levels. I had some white plastic sheets set up in the background for better contrast, but at some point they came down. On the left, you see a mature male with full ruby-throat. In the middle is a female and on the right is an immature male.

| Here is an example of actual hummingbird aerobatics. This is the actual sequence of positions, the frames not varying by more than a couple of seconds. The camera was using a slightly delayed shutter for all these shots. The tail lowers as she backs up, and raises sharply when she darts forward. Then she's back in hover mode... |
On October 9, there were some new birds coming to check out the feeder...

OK, not really birds, and not really checking out the feeder, but they do fly really well.
The Blue Angels come every year during Fleet Week. This was taken from the hill behind the house.
