Jeanette's Travel Journal

Jeanette's Travel Journal

This site contains the Journals that I wrote while traveling through England and Scotland. These journals began as e-mail messages to my family and friends in the summer of 1999. They have turned out to be so much more. While I still enjoy sharing them with anyone who is even remotely interested, they have come to mean a great deal to me on a personal level. They contain precious memories of my trips. These trips would not have been possible without my wonderful British family. Jenny and Bob generously open their home and hearts to me and go to great lengths to make my dreams come true. They are also intrepid travel companions. We have traveled the length and width of Britain on holiday together for more than 20 years and my biggest regret is that I did not start keeping journals sooner. This site is dedicated to them because I love them.

Book Lovers Tour, April 1997

Romantic Times Magazine sponsored a Book Lovers Tour of Scotland in April, 1997. The tour was accompanied by authors Diana Gabaldon and Karen Monk. Authors Antonia Rafe and Dorothy Dunnett were featured dinner speakers. I did not keep a journal on this tour but two friends, Elaine Smith and Corona Pope who were also on the tour shared their notes with me so that I was able to reconstruct this trip. I could not have done it without their help. All of the photographs were taken by Elaine Smith.
