The Laura Bow series began in 1989, with The Colonel's Bequest, then was followed up in 1991, with The Dagger Of Amon Ra and seems to have been abandoned. In my personal opinion, the Laura Bow games are two of the best games out there and I would recommend them to any gamer, be he, (or she) young or old. (There are some scenes that may not be appropriate for younger children, a little bloody and a few intimate conversations. I first played LB2 when I was 10, so it's not all that bad.)
