Greetings to all .. I'm a computer professional who does computer programming on a contract basis. I've been at it since Jurassic Park was the real thing. The kind of programming I do is on the very large mainframe systems and NOT at the PC level. So that means that I don't do Windows. But I do know the hardware side of things and have built the last several machines that I use.
I have interests in genealogy,
photography
, convertibles, music, computing (of course) and woodworking/furniture refinishing. I did have 3 lifetimes of woodworking/refinishing projects in the basement, but cleared them out for my move to Florida.
My youngest son got married in August of 1997 to a wonderful young lady from Delaware. He did work as the campaign manager and office manager for Charlie Winburn who was one of the nine members of Cincinnati's City Council. Since August of 1998 he has been studying in the law school at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia. Since he has started the GREAT PAPER CHASE he has not had much free time for the past three years. But he's been doing remarkably well at it and hopes to graduate with honors in May of 2001.
My daughter-in-law finished her master's in public policy from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia in May of 1997. After finishing her batchlors degree from the University of Delaware, she spent a year in China teaching English. Besides all that she is a delightful young lady and I am happy for them. She hopes to use her degree and work for the State Department. She is now working as an aide to Congressman Chabot from Ohio. He was one of the congressmen who helped present the impeachment case of President Clinton to the Senate.
Part of the joy in their lives is that they decided to start a family and had a son named Caleb Trevor Marks born on August 22 of 1999. Hmmm .. seems like a theme going with this August thing. Either way, this is my first grandchild and is something I'm looking forward to with great joy.
My oldest son finished a technical course and received his A+ Certification in hardware and software for Windows 95 and Windows NT. He had relocated to Florida but is now back in Ohio and is putting his technical skills to work there. He is also hoping to take some additional training in order to obtain an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) certification.
My latest adventure in life is that I've moved to Florida after being in Ohio all my life. So I'm on the beaches here searching for that lost Fountain of Youth. Wish me luck in finding it ..
BTW .. the wife is the one who started us all on this move to Florida by accepting a job transfer with her company. She was a former librarian who was retrained in the information technology field after coming down with lots of allergys. One of her allergys was to book dust which kind of killed the librarian jobs. She has a masters in library science from the University of Michigan. Its going to be interesting to see how long it takes the U of M Alumni Association to track her down in Florida.
I don't think they have caught up with us yet. They seem to have done a good job of tracking her down in the past.
