Something really scary

Graduation from UT, May 1994. With Grandma D

Artwork. This was done with pencil, pastels, and charcoal. It is a somewhat surreal replication of the famous photograph taken on February 1st, 1968 on the second day of the Tet offensive. Photographed by Eddie Adams, it is General Nguyen Ngoc Loan, chief of South Vietnam's National Police, executing a communist soldier.

"Near the An Quang temple, they spotted a patrol of government troops with a captive in tow...The soldiers marched him up to Loan, who drew his revolver and waved the bystanders away. Without hesitation, Loan stretched out his right arm, placed the short snout of the weapon against the prisoner's head, and squeezed the trigger. The man grimmaced--then, almost in slow motion, his legs crumpled beneath him as he seemed to sit down backward, blood gushing from his head as it hit the pavement. Not a word was spoken. It all happened instantly..."

THE WALL. 2001 AMERICAN TOUR
The replica is smaller than the actual wall.
Touring replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Dedicated November 13, 1982. 58,226 names are inscribed on the wall. The wall includes the names of deceased and missing. I have read at least one case in which a woman claims her husband belongs on the wall. He wasn't KIA, but committed suicide years after the war was over.

Now on to a children's story about 'Ole Dave Nickerson..................

'Ole Dave Nickerson

'Ole Dave Nickerson lives at the bottom of a well
He thinks he's a clam but he never can tell
Ring ring ring goes the sound in his pointy little bell
With money troubles over, his furniture he'll sell

Nickerson the subject of all poetry
Tending to the masses of all his ministry
Slept on a futon but now he's up a tree
Like a Robin Red Breast, Dave's feeling free

Jolly old boy wearing glasses for his eyes
Wind is picking up putting pants on his thighs
There's a drawstring cinch so this he simply ties
Dave is dressed and ready to take to the skies

Dave is soaring high above the troubles of the day
He's smiling like a chesire cat and like a donkey he does bray
Up here there are no dragons for Mr. Nickerson to slay
Dave Nickerson is peaceful, no need to ever prey

In the worlds of Dave himself, "Everything is OK"
