BIRTH:
I was born in San Jose,
Costa Rica
on a Tuesday, September 25th 1973. I am a Libra and even though I don't
believe in astrology, some say I am typical of my sign. My childhood was
pretty much what I consider normal, since as many others, as a child my
life was just wonderful. Even though my parents, Gerardo Jimenez and Janet
Victory got divorced a few years after my birth (not that I had anything
to do with it), I always had all the love and affection that one could
ever wish for. During that time I spent most of my time, maybe more than
the necessary, with my brother Luis Diego. Later on my mother married Arturo
Herrera and then came my siblings Alvaro and Ileana, and Federico from
my father's line. Together they have been the people with greater influence
in my life and the ones who I will always be obliged to. |

ELEMENTARY
EDUCATION:
It was 1979 and my parents,
without my full consent, decided that I should start my academic formation.
I went to the Anglo American School;
and as many others, I started my first day crying. During that time I had
many classmates, and among those was Alfonso Salvo, with whom after several
beatings, I patched up a friendship that lasted throughout the years to
come. Also I met Luis Carlos Alvarado and later on we had a new addition
to the gang: Luis Eduardo Soley. Together they were my great childhood
friends and still today we share a formidable friendship.
Also
during that time, I started my swimming classes. This training later on
led me to become part of the swim team of the University of Costa Rica.
For 12 years I was part of the team, and with it I had the chance to compete
not only on national tournaments but also on an international level. Ahh...
those golden years! Today, even though I do not participate on any kind
of professional competition, I still have the perseverance and the passion
for sports as if it was the first day.
I spent
my high school years at Saint Clare College. I could say that my years
in high school were perfect except for one thing: puberty. This one made
my life miserable, but fortunately, I survived it. Also during this time,
even though my grades were good (yeah right), my behavior in class was
not the most appropriate. This was reflected on a consistent letter D on
my conduct grade term after term. Fortunately, as amazing as it seems,
I managed to graduate from high school with honors. Of course, all this
stories and memories wouldn't have been the same if it wasn't for the hard
labor of my classmates and friends. |

COLLEGE
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL WORK:
I was admitted to the
Mechanical
Engineering Department at the Universidad
de Costa Rica in 1992. In general, it was in college where I had the
chance to learn not only about engineering and physics but also about life
itself. I also had the opportunity to meet different kinds of people, all
of them of great value and each one leaving a lesson for me to learn. Definitely,
those were among the best days of my life.
I managed
to graduate from UCR in 1996 and in 1997 with the support of my family
I traveled to the United States to fulfill one of my dreams: study aerospace
engineering. I was accepted to Texas A&M
University
and finally on December 1999 I graduated from the Aerospace
Engineering Department with a Master of Science degree. I lived an
unforgettable experience but most important, I learned to appreciate each
and every single detail of life. Things that once I took for granted, now
I stop to appreciate them.
Recently
I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in California
to work as an engineer at HKS, Inc., producers of the best finite
element analysis software: ABAQUS. As
you can see history has become present and therefore I have nothing else
to write... for a while. |
