Feb. 19, 2002 7pm: Brad's Journal entry: "......today we went from Tal (5,577 ft.) to Danague (7,546 ft) it was about 600 of meters of climbing. We felt strong the whole way and arrived here by 12:30pm. The afternoon included a snack of corn bread and hot chocolate...YUM!, some reading and of course a nap. We had views of Manaslu through the clouds and were constantly amazed. This is the jewel of our trip, we are breathingin every moment."
Jennifer's Journal entry: "The has come to and end with a most amazaing gift. We were asked into the family around the glowing fire to eat our dinner- boiled potatoes and dahl baht (lentils and rice, the Nepali staple). There was enough food made on the woodstove for the entire family, but we were served along with the youngest child and ate as the rest of the family chatted and waited until we were finished. I asked the teenage girl, who served us our food, how to say some Nepali words and the family smiled and giggled as we bid them good night in Nepali. It wa so cozy and warm with the copper kettles shimmering on the shelves above our heads; we were also given the only floor cushions to sit on. I felt like I was back in the middle ages. A simple, sometimes hard, but seemingly happy existense."
