Letters to the Editor:

Dear Editor:

In Europe cameras watch you from the time you leave your home until the time you return. They're everywhere, looking down on you from rooftops, spying on you while you sleep, even the washrooms have eyes!

But, that could never happen here right? Our government respects our privacy. Let's look at some of the steps our own government has taken to make our lives an Orwellian nightmare on par with Europe.

A global network has been set up to eavesdrop on every single phone call, fax, or email, anywhere on the planet. Cameras are being set up at intersections first, but will soon be everywhere, and "black boxes" are being put into new cars (soon your own care will report you!). GPS tracking systems are built into all new cell phones and report on your position. X-ray machines are being set up at major airports that can see through your clothing, and employees can view an image of your naked body without your knowledge or consent. Data bases of imformation about you already exist; everytime you use a credit card, you add to their files.

Most people would be shocked to learn that the government routinely "hot-wires" phones. This means that they use your phone to listen in on your house, even when that phone is not being used it can be hotwired to hear everything that goes on in your home.

It would seem that more and more we are being forced to live an exibitionist lifestyle we don't want. Even if you don't mind the government knowing your personal imformation, or listening to you have sex, maybe the hidden camera pictures of your six year old daughter for sale on the net will spur you to action.

Sincerely,

Evan
