About

So ya wanna know about the Computer Guy. Ok, why not... I’m bored so I will tell my tale. Here’s the short version (Believe me, the long version is an unbearable drama.)

Grew up in America, in a small town in the state of Illinois. We were a farming family back in the 1960’s and that meant we lived off the land and were thankful to the lord for our blessings.

When I was 15 we had a couple of bad seasons, the bank foreclosed on us and sold the farm to a coal mining company which strip mined the whole thing. My father, who had gone to college many years ago and had a finance degree, became a government bank examiner. He was in charge of giving FDIC certification to banks. If you know what that is then you know that god has a wicked sense of humor.

I, being the oldest of 8 children, was asked to leave at 18. I stood on the doorstep with a limitless future ahead. I was good at many things and had no idea which to choose so I went to college for general studies till I could decide on a major. I went to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale because it was near my hometown and it had all kinds of foreign folks which I was unbelievably fascinated with.

Worked all kinds of jobs to pay my tuition, fast food, gardening, door to door salesman, TV cameraman and transmitter monitor and on and on. Joined a Fraternity (Theta XI because they had the best parties) and was having a blast.

Then my girlfriend gave me the gift of fatherhood and life changed. My friends said run but I was raised right and stepped up. I married her and 2 weeks after the baby was born, she ran away. I was a single father, college student and poor (I’m talking baby formula for the kid and maybe peanut butter for me if any money was left.) So at 22 years old I forced myself to focus and chose Electrical Engineering as a major. It was an incredibly difficult major and made more so by my lack of money. I decided I would study one year, stop and work for one year and save money and go back to college in a cycle till I finished. Absolute faith in god makes people a little crazy and I needed that.

*Oh, it’s getting late so I will shorten the short version.*

At 29 finished the program and got a degree. Brought my girlfriend and son to Japan to learn Japanese and enhance my resume. People started asking me to teach English and threw buckets of money at me. I was swayed and became a teacher, putting Engineering on hold for 1 year so I could get money to start life.
Got married to the girlfriend. Now wife and I had 3 more kids. Wife got bored and ran off. She became ex-wife. I became a single father with 3 young kids. I took care of kids, worked like a dog, created a happy homelife for many years.

Now it’s my turn, my kids are old enough, I have the savings, and it is time for my dream. I want to own my own business, I want to work with electronics and I want to help people. The Computer Guy is born!!
