For me, the shining start of this film was Allison Janney, who currently stars as C.J. on "The West Wing". She plays Loretta, the Atkins' best friend and an alcoholic tramp who stands in for Ambers mom after her "accident". Her trailer park performance is dead on, capturing the insanity and the sensitivity of her character, a well-deserved complexity that most white-trash characters are denied. She refuses to play a stereotype, and the result is countless guilty laughs as she proudly declares on national television that "I got some!".
