| James F. Bass, son of John Bass and Delaney Taylor, was born 5 Feb 1807 in LA. and died ca. 1855, reportedly drowing in the Calcasieu River. He married Emily "Millie" Groves 26 Jan 1826 in St. Landry Parish, LA. and 10 children were born. James is buried on the levee near the accident site in what was later to become the Mayo Cemetery. Emily was buried in the Wales Cemetery (now Union Grove) near Leesville, LA. in an unmarked grave. |
