James Groves Sr., was born 22 Mar 1780 NC, and died 12 Jul 1856 in Rapides Parish La. He married Mary "Polly" Nash, probably in MS ca. 1800 and only two children were located on various records. Mary was born 6 Jun 1781 MS, daughter of Thomas Nash and Emily Slater, and she died 14 Sep 1855 in Rapides Parish, LA. James and Mary (Nash) Groves are buried in Glass Window Cemetery, Hicks, Vernon Parish, LA. the issue: 1. Emily "Millie" Groves 2. James Groves Jr. Emily "Millie" Groves,was born ca. 1805 LA. She married James F. Bass 26 Jan 1826 St. Landry Parish LA and ten children were born. James Bass was born 5 Feb 1807, LA, the son of John Bass and Delaney Taylor, and he died by drowning in the Calcasieu River between 1851 and 1860, and is buried on the river bank in an unmarked grave. Millie died ca. 1861-5, and is buried in an unmarked grave in the old Wales Cemetery (Union Grove) near Leesville, LA. the issue: 1. Josiah Bass 2. Mary "Polly" Bass 3. John Jackson Bass 4. James Groves Jr. was born in Louisiana and died 25 Dec 1885 in Vernon Parish, LA.. He married Nancy Perkins, and nine children were born. Nancy was born  7 Oct 1820 near Lake Charles, LA and died 6 Aug 1902, in Vernon Parish, LA.  They are buried in Glass Window Cemetery, Walnut Hill, Vernon Parish, LA. the issue: 1.
