MEGA AVATARS

What is a MEGA avatar?

Simply put, a larger avatar ... like so ...

In order to use MEGA AV's, you need 3 things. 1. Mega Avatars (i.e., 102 x 116 pixels instead of the usual 48 x 64 pixels) Click here for FREE AVATARS
2. The Mega Head Game (which starts the program that increases the size of your av while in VP) Click here for MEGA HEAD GAME
3. The Mega Head Patch (which allows you to view the mega's). Without this, you can "mega", but you won't be able to SEE the megas when you want to change your AV; in other words, the entire "mega" concept is null and void without this patch. Click here for MEGA HEAD PATCH
How do I "mega" in VP?

Once you have installed the above, and you are logged into VP, click on "GAMES" on the Excite VP tool bar in order to use the MEGA AV's..
A box will pop up, click on "Start Game" Another box will pop up, click on "MegaHead"
Then a new "full window" screen comes up. It appears that you have left the chat room completely because you can no longer see the room; you are still there; you'll hear "band" music (annoying); click on the "band" instruments to turn off the noise (this is not mandatory, but good for the ear drums), then, click on the tab at the bottom left on your screen that says "CHAT" to view the chat room again. Opening a game just opens up a new "game window" that you CAN chat in, but you want to return to the "main" chat room (otherwise, you'll be there all alone and get quite bored).
Moving a Mega AV in a room is a REAL pain in the neck. You have to click on the corner or top portion of the AV, until you see the words "YOURIDMegaHead" ... then you can move. Otherwise, if you don't, you end the mega game and go back to having a small AV. All I can say is, try this out for yourself ... patience, patience, patience.
When you are sick of using a large AV (people don't really like them in crowded chat rooms; they are best used when in a small group), just click on "GAMES" on the VP Excite tool bar again, then "End Game".
Note: You cannot "mega" when in Observe; you must be in the room.

Oh, in case you were wondering, small av's DON'T mega well ... you certainly can "mega" them, but you see all of those nasty little pixels (see my feet AV "mega'd" below). That's why you need AV's that are made especially for the mega program (i.e., any gif at 102 x 116 pixels). Similarly, Mega AV's (102 x 116 pixels) usually don't look good as the VP default size of 48 x 64; they lose most of their clarity and it can be hard to figure out what it is (especially if the AV is a particularly "busy" one.)

48 x 64 pixels avatar in mega mode 102 x 116 pixels avatar in mega mode
48 x 64 pixels avatar in default 48 x 64 mode
102 x 116 pixels avatar in default 48 x 64 mode
