WHAT'S AN AVATAR AND WHERE DO I GET ONE?

What's an avatar?
An avatar is a small picture (48 x 64 pixels to be exact) that can be any graphic (but must be in gif format, jpg or any other graphic format will NOT work). You can create your own, or fetch them from the web and use them as they are, or get a painter, like me, to create something unique for you. The possibilities are endless.

Where do I get AV's?

Avatars are a time a dozen. There are hundreds of sites out there with pre-made avatars. All you have to do is right click on a picture you like, then file it to your hard drive.

Where do I file my AV's?

c:/ProgramFiles/Vplaces/Exts/Gallery

You can use av's filed in any other directory, you just have to know where to find them when you want them, and, since VP defaults to this directory, it's just easier to keep them here.

Since I have dozens of avatars, I have made a number of sub-directories (shown in pink below) in an attempt to keep my avatars organized.

How do I change from one AV to another? Once you are logged into VP, you simply "right click" on your own AV, then click on "Edit Identity",

Then click on the radio dot "PERSONAL", then click on the button "CHANGE" as shown below

The box below pops up; then simply click on the picture of the AV that you want to use. (Shown below are the Stock AV's that come with the VP program; by clicking on Personal, you are able to locate VP's that you have saved to your hard drive at c:/ProgramFiles/Vplaces/Exts/Gallery ).

Then click on "OK"
