Tips For Caring For Your Ball Python
Some of the tips I'll give in this section have already have been covered in some of the other sections, but it will all help in caring for your snake.
- The first one don't use wood or anything from your "backyard" they can carry mites and other harmful things, you are better off spending the money on store-bought items.
- The next is make sure the humidity isn't too high or too low both can cause problems like: + Humidity can cause blisters and infections; -Humidity can cause bad sheds, unproper deficate, and stress(BITING)
- Heat, big misconception; pythons love being hot 24/7. False pythons spend alot of time in animal borrows, so make sure its not above 90 degrees for the whole day, and keep one side around 75 degrees and the other around 85, that will work fine.
- Since the python is a nocturnal creature it doesn't need UV lighting plain old heat lamps will work fine. I like black light heat lights at night it is real cool with a black light responsive cave, etc.
- When feeding put the snake in a seperate container other than its terrarium(I already cover that)
- Use frozen food instead of live, always remeber to THAW the food.
- If the snake is having trouble shedding soak it in warm water for a few minutes and that should help. There is also vitamin sprays on the market that can aid the help of your snake shedding its skin... (VITASPRAY)
-
Never handle your snake after ate, unless you are putting it back in the terrarium. Because they might get nervous and give you back the food.
- Whenever snake deficates clean it out immediatly and also spray with an antibactieral spray(FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS)
- Make sure the water is fresh, the snake might deficate in the water bowl
- Once you buy your python, or before you by it check to see if your area has a herpatologist; dogs and cats vetranarians, snakes need a doctor sometimes, too.
That's about it on tips and I think that covers all of my tips.
