Film, Music & Entertainment Travel Tips LOST LUGGAGE Any problems with luggage must be reported to the airline. A Customs Declaration document must be signed by Customs officer stating any dutiable items and showing proof of arranged Waiver of Duty/Bond. The Declaration should be left with the airline for Customs clearance and delivery by the airline. Most airlines will deliver delayed baggage (two pieces per person) if locked luggage keys are left with the airline staffer, and Waiver of Duty/Bond is arranged for items attracting duty. RUSHES / DELAYS There are no 16mm or 35mm post-production laboratories in Jamaica. Overnight rushes can be done by Hand Courier, and one-day service can be done by Courier Services or Airline [small] Package Delivery services. Production Passes for security clearance through X-Ray will be arranged through the Commission with prior notice. COURIER SERVICE Courier services [Federal Express, UPS, DHL] and counter to counter airline deliveries are treated the same as cargo by Customs. This means that any dutiable items sent by these methods will be detained and any outgoing items/film could be searched. The Commission can arrange with the courier service, to provide them with a waiver of bond/duty so that your deliveries can be cleared, and a Security X-Ray Pass so that your film will not be X-Rayed or opened. Please alert the Commission if you will be using this system for importing or exporting. AIR FREIGHT Some airlines will not accept boxes as luggage so please make contact with them before you plan your shipping. Items being sent by air should have space booked on the airline as far in advance as possible. If they are being taken as hand luggage discuss this with the airline in advance and arrive at your port of departure at least three hours in advance to ensure that all your items are on board. N.B. : CARGO OFFICES are not usually opened on weekends but special pre-arrangements can be made with Airlines and Customs through the Commission. ARRIVING IN JAMAICA Please read the pages on Immigration and Customs Regulations carefully! The Commission will be delighted to address any questions raised. Ensure that your crew has the following:
CUSTOMS CLEARANCE The Commission staff member assigned to your production will, if necessary, meet crew/cast and assist with arrival and clearance of equipment. For this reason, productions are asked to advise of arrival and departure schedules before and during shoot. If your production entails several arrivals, you should ensure that a Production Assistant [apart from the driver] be present to meet you at the airport and assist the Commission staff member with meeting the flights with crew and/or equipment. They will be provided with a security pass to get into the Immigration and Customs areas. Large crew arrivals can be cleared quickly with this method :
