Front & Back Turn Sequence: (Cha Cha Cha) Part 3

The first basic sequence.

Please Note: This is a sequel to Basic Sequence: Cha Cha Cha

Sequence:
1. Rock Turn Cha Cha 1
2. Front Turn Cha Cha 1
3. Back Turn Cha Cha 1
4. Rock Turn Cha Cha 1
5. Front Turn Cha Cha 1
6. Back Turn Cha Cha 1

Note again:
1. Refer to the two figures Front & Back Turn (Rock Step): Fig 1 and Front & Back Turn (Rock Step): Fig 2. Figure 1 is the Start position. Figure 2 is for the count 1 of the figures Rock Step and Front Turn given above; the direction for movement and facing is given below.
2. Also refer to the figure Fig: Chasse: Variants for especially the Chasses with the turns.
3. Following is the detailed movement for the sequence. The approach for this should be doing the movement only after reading and visualizing the part, and till then one should be standing still, on one foot and in the direction given.
4. The idea of the prominent pause after the Rock Step and the Chasse is to impress upon the pauses after the counts 1 and count 3.
5. The steps for the counts 1 and count 3 are stress on with the appropriate foot when dancing the Cha Cha Cha.
6. Due to the pause one should get good practice for the need to give a strong push from the stationary foot for the movement into the next part.
7. This also helps in accounting for the steps and the counts.
8. Avoid the necessity of looking down at ones steps. As one should be always be looking at eye level more or less throughout the dance.
9. In addition this helps to think much ahead in a dance.
10. Turn 180 degrees or 1/2 turn for every Front Turn, Back Turn, and the Chasse.
11. For the Front Turn both the steps are forward with respect to the stationary foot. For example if the Right foot is placed forward for the first count Front, then for the next count Turn the Left foot is placed ahead of the Right foot.
12. Similarly for the Back Turn both the steps are backward with respect to the stationary foot. For example if the Right foot is placed behind the Left foot for the first count Back, then for the next count Turn the Left foot is placed behind the Right foot.

0. Start:
Stand on the Right foot with the Left foot just off the floor, facing and being square to the direction B. Here count the count 1 before commencing. (Refer Figure 1 above)

1. Rock Step: (No Turn)
1. Move forward in the direction B and step on the Left foot for the count Rock.
2. Move backward in the direction A and step on the Right foot for the count Step.

2. Chasse (Cha Cha 1) (Turn 180 degrees)
1. The first step moves in the direction A, since the preceding step has moved in this direction. Thus in this case the Left foot moves backward.
2. To understand the correct side of the turn, swing the foot going in for the first count Cha, and swivel simultaneously on the other foot, which is the stationary foot. Here the Left foot swings backward and swivel on the Right foot and the turn is to the left.
3. All the three steps move in the direction A, and turn gradually.
4. End with weight on the Left foot and facing and being square in the direction A.
5. (Refer Figure 2 above)

3. Front Turn (Turn 180 degrees)
1. The first step moves in the direction A, since the preceding step has moved in this direction. Thus in this case the Right foot moves forward.
2. The second step will move in the direction B, which is the opposite direction in which the first step has moved (direction A), since this is basically a Rock Step. Thus in this case the Left foot moves forward.
3. To understand the correct side of the turn, swing the foot going in for the first count Front, and swivel simultaneously on the stationary foot. Here the Right foot swings forward and swivel on the Left foot and the turn is to the left.
4. At the start, you are facing direction A, and end facing and being square to the direction B.
5. After the two steps end with weight on the Left foot.

4. Chasse (Turn 180 degrees)
1. The first step moves in the direction B, since the preceding step has moved in this direction. Thus in this case the Right foot moves forward.
2. To understand the correct side of the turn, swing the foot going in for the first count Cha, and swivel simultaneously on the other foot, which is the stationary foot. Here the Right foot swings forward and swivel on the Left foot and the turn is to the left.
3. All the three steps move in the direction B, and turn gradually.
4. End with weight on the Right foot and facing and being square in the direction A.
5. (Refer Figure 2 above)

5. Back Turn (Turn 180 degrees)
1. The first step moves in the direction B, since the preceding step has moved in this direction. Thus in this case the Left foot moves backward.
2. The second step will move in the direction A, which is the opposite direction in which the first step has moved (direction B), since this is basically a Rock Step. Thus in this case the Left foot moves backward.
3. To understand the correct side of the turn, swing the foot going in for the first count Back, and swivel simultaneously on the stationary foot. Here the Left foot swings backward and swivel on the Right foot and the turn is to the left.
4. At the start, you are facing direction A, and end facing and being square to the direction B.
5. After the two steps end with weight on the Right foot.

6. Chasse (Turn 180 degrees)
