HSING YI


  • THREE LINES

    1. Maintain a vertical line from the heel of the forward leg to the front of the knee cap, it should be in line with the heel;
    2. there should be a straight line from the hip to the back heel;
    3. additionally, a straight line from the forward index finger down to, and in line with the front foot.
  • The knees should have the feeling as though they are closing inward.
  • The heels should feel as if they are pushing outward.
  • The toes should feel as if they are grasping the earth.
  • The shoulders are relaxed and elbows sink down.

Hsing Yi's posture , is critical. In Tai Chi, one holds their head, as if suspended by a string from above, not so, in Hsing - Yi. In Hsing Yi, one presses the head up. Many things in common, but some differences. Hsing Yi's San Ti Stance , is the foundation of the style. Standing in this stance for a few minutes, up to two hours. This will build up the force needed for a strong foundation. Hsing Yi's energy proceeds in s stages. San Ti standing, is primary.
