A very primitive people, the Zhara have been masters of the jungles since the dawn of time. They are fairly peaceful, though leary of strangers, and are excellent hunters.
They live in small colonies, together with around fifty other's of there kind. The majority of the colonies live in the trees, but there are a few that prefer living in the damp cool confines of caves.
There society is ruled by one leader, normally the strongest male. The leader's main job is to lead hunting parties and to pass judgment on those who have done wrong.
Females and Males have set roles in the community that are very seldom changed. Males do the hunting and protect the colony from outsiders, the females raise the children, prepare the food, clean, and wait on the males. The difference in cultures are different from colony to colony, in some the females are treated as slaves while in others they are more or less equal. This usually depends on how much contact the colony in question has had with the outside world.
Zhara males reach maturity at the age of twelve and begin taking their turns hunting and protecting the colony. By the age of 18 most have many children and several mates. The average life span for a Zhara is 50 years.
