History.
Tran was born in a colony of Zhara that at one time roamed the land freely. When he was around six the colony was hunted down and the younger Zhara were taken as slaves while the rest were killed. After spending two years in a slave house, he was finally sold to a priest to be used in a religious ceremony as a sacrifice. He was tatooed with three crosses, one on his forehead, and one on the back of each of his hands. His claws were also removed and his teeth filed down. He soon developed a deep hatred for humans, and after killing several of the 'priests', escaped into the wild. A long way from home, scared, and defenceless he was again captured by a slave trader.
After trying to escape again, he was beat until he blacked out from the pain, and took to be actioned as a slave in the City of Isis. The day he was auctioned, Rein was in the city selling one of her own slaves for a hefty sum. Finding the young Zhara caged, bloody, and nearlly lifeless in his cage she saw it as an opportunity to begin training a slave fairly young. After nearlly 10 years Tran is still in Rein's service, and probably her most faithful servant.
