At WPS, we believe that the more comfortable and confident the client is in their ability to perform a quality job search, the more motivated and effective they will be in finding employment. The following is our Job Seeking Skills Training Program we provide our clients to help them successfully return-to-work.
Meetings
Meetng 1. Initial Meeting: Determine appropriate areas of job search to begin working on. Discuss work history and transferable skills. Explain resume worksheet and Job Logs. Provide client with Job Seeking Skills Folder.
Client Homework—Complete Resume Worksheet, Begin look for job ads in newspaper and internet and be prepared to discuss in next meeting.
Meeting 2. Begin Job Seeking Skills Training: Review completed Resume Worksheet, and review job leads sent to client, Collect Job Logs (Or have client fax, scan/email, or mail to us.)
Client Homework—Introduction Pitch, and Networking list of 20 people. Call Networking List, Look for ads in newspaper and bring to next meeting.
Meeting 3. Continue Job Seeking Skills Training, Review job leads given by WPS, Present final resume and give hard copies, Collect Job Logs, Set date for Mock Cold Calling Exercise (telephonic).
Send client CD of cover letters, thanks you’s, and resume to client.
Client Homework—Mock cold call, Continue calling Networking list and other companies, Follow up on past leads, look for adds in newspaper and bring to next meeting.
Meeting 4. Continue Job Seeking Skills Training, Review job leads given by WPS, and Give Feedback on Mock Cold Call Exercise, Collect Job Logs. Set date for Mock interview (in person or telephonic) and review interview questions. Send client call list of companies for them to call on.
Client Homework-- Continue calling Networking list and other companies, Fill out interview questions with best answers possible, Follow up on past leads, Look for ads in newspaper and bring to next meeting.
Meeting 5. Continue Job Seeking Skills Training, Review job leads, Collect Job Logs. Give Feedback on Mock Interview.
Client Homework—Follow up on past leads—and really start to build as much activity as possible (cold calls, ads, follow up on leads we provide, networking…..)
Meeting 6. Review job leads, Motivational Support, Promote--Activity, Activity, Activity.
On-going Homework—Networking calls, Ad Calls, Follow up calls. Then follow up in person, fill out aps, and hand out resumes
