First steps
In 1894, 10 gymnastics teachers arrive in Bulgaria from Switzerland. Georges du Regibus, a very well built athlete and a
wonderfull teacher, starts teaching at the Men's Academy
in Varna. 14th of May, 1894, he juggles a football in front
of his students at the academy yard. The youngsers
embrace with love the interesting game, to build the
foundation of the game of football not only in the city, but
the whole country!
During the year of 1897, The Ministry of education
prints the basic rules of the game, and football becomes a sport. Small neighbourhood teams start to form, matches are being arranged against foreign sailors, experience starts to add up, and soon enough a football movement starts to look towards its future. |
