Name: It-uile.
This name means "all-healer" in Celtic and is pronounced "Itoo-eel".
History of word:
"Mistletoe was considered something of a universal panacea, as
can be gleaned from the ancient Celtic word for it-uile, which literally
translated means 'all-healer'. A widespread belief was that mistletoe
could cure anything from headaches to epilepsy; and indeed modern research
has shown that the drug guipsine which is used in the treatment of nervous
illnesses and high blood pressure is contained in mistletoe." http://www.paganlibrary.com/reference/christmas_customs.php
Location:
The clan hall is located 9w,3s,2w,swim,e, of the pub. It is in the water
waste, by Mariel. The first clan pub is located 4e,ne,2n of the pub,
in the sea on the way to Chamlin. Water and springs (both hot and cold)
have been believed to have healing properties. These watery locations
seemed ideal for It-uile to dwell.
Age:
There is a long, long history of Healers all throughout the world. They
have existed since the first cavemen got hurt during the hunt. It-uile
descended from all healers from the past.
Background:
There is a rumor of an old Druid man who, as his dying request, passed
on all of his knowledge of healing to Alien, to lead It-uile. Not much
is known of this story, since Alien has been banished and no one can
reach him to learn the story.
Theology:
It-uile is a clan of Healers. All members are dedicated to heal those
in need. Due to its neutral stance, It-uile has in the past been a diplomatic
clan. Not only do the members heal, but they can also work as negotiators
when there are problems between different groups of people, to heal
them of their ailments. On the other hand, if an individual or a clan
does It-uile wrong, expect that there will be repercussions. Even diplomats
know that there are times when talking just isn't going to cut it.
Alignment:
Overall, It-uile is a neutral clan. Members can be anywhere from demonic
to saintly. There have been good and bad doctors when you look at history.
The same goes for now. Your individual alignment is just that, yours
we
won't tell you what you should be. You can heal with nice, gentle herbs,
or you can pour salt into the wound to close it and stop the bleeding
whichever
works best for you.
Motto:
The greatest rewards come from helping others.
Restrictions:
There are to be no necromancers in It-uile, even if they are the best
healers in all of the known universe. Necromancers animate the dead.
We cannot heal the dead, it is already too late. This is offensive to
the It-uile, who pride themselves on their healing abilities. The only
thing we can do to help these poor animated corpses is to kill it again.
Other than that, anyone who can demonstrate healing abilities and lives
up to the name It-uile may join. The possibility of allowing those without
healing spells/skills, but who are able to find more creative ways to
heal, to join as 'honorary' members was discussed, but no finalizations
have been made on the issue.
Initiation Rite:
When interested, a prospective member informs a clan member of interest.
After all of the active members have discussed the prospective and a
decision has been made, an officer of the clan may offer an invitation
to the prospective member. If the prospective member has a healing spell/skill,
he or she will follow the directions for becoming an Acolyte. If he
or she does not yet have a healing spell/skill, he or she will follow
the directions to become an Aspirant.
To become an Acolyte, the prospective member must perform a healing
spell/skill upon an officer of the clan. He or she will then be invited
into the clan as an Acolyte.
To become an Aspirant, the prospective member must pledge to fulfill
the requirements to acquire a healing spell/skill as quickly as possible.
The prospective member must then prove his or her devotion to the clan
by acquiring healing items (7 for players, 10 for heroes
a list
of possible items can be presented to the prospective, if requested)
and presenting them to an officer of the clan (which will then be presented
to those players that are available and in need). He or she will then
be invited into the clan as an Aspirant.
Cost:
There is no cost at this time, but members are encouraged to donate
to their clan when possible. There may be occasional "pledge drives"
when the clan would like to invest in something new, or if the clan
comes upon hard times, members may be required to donate money.
Short-term Goals:
Members are to spend time each day healing players.
Long-term Goals:
Have at least one member at the statue to heal at all times.
Open many healing pubs and stores throughout the realms.
Allies and Enemies:
It-uile is a neutral clan. For that reason, we do not have any allies
and enemies
unless someone bothers us. The one exception is that
we extremely dislike the Necromancers, since they are so clearly against
the life.
