Clans? What are they for?

This brief description of the purpose of clans is taken from 'help clan' which was written by X.

"The clan system has come about for two reasons. First of all to increase the role-playing potential in Ragnarok, and secondly to help ease the boredom that is faced by many level 40 heroes. Clans are basically a social and/or political group that your character can choose to pledge their allegiance to. You will then follow the ideals or mandate of that clan during regular game play. Clans can improve your gaming experience on Ragnarok, if you give them a chance, but don't get them confused with a guild. Joining a clan won't increase your stats or give you any special attacks. A clan will affiliate you with others sharing common interests and outlooks and give you an added source from which you may seek help or answers to questions you might have."

Who is It-uile?

It-uile is a group of players, heros, and wizards in Ragnarok which devotes themselves to healing and helping. These players wander Ragnarok healing players, assisting players in advancing, and help newbies learn their way around Ragnarok. Their mission is as follows:

"We pledge to Heal the sick and injured, and help the Weak to become Strong. We will Destroy the undead creatures of Ragnarok so that they may Rest in Peace, and Oppose the Necromancers who Raise them."

Who can join It-uile?

"It-uile does not discriminate against any humane person (Note: Necromancers are just disgusting. Anyone who thrives on the undead is unwelcome, because we stress the importance and love of life.) Regardless of race, sex, aura, or dietary preferences. They only require that you are both able to and willing to help others out."

How do I join It-uile?

So, you want to join It-uile? Great! First, make sure you have a healing spell or skill. Then, write Pixie, the Phoenix, or to any other member of It-uile. New members are discussed at every clan meeting (which typically occur once a month). Next, prove that you belong in It-uile. Help players and newbies. Randomly heal players around Ragnarok. When prospective members are discussed at meetings, the primary question asked is, 'Have you seen <this player> healing/helping?' If it is agreed that you exhibit traits of It-uile members, then you will be invited to join.

What can I do to exhibit It-uile traits?

Here are some examples of things you can do to show that you are wanting to join It-uile. You don't have to do them all, but they are just some ideas of things to do. Remember, as a member, these are the kinds of things you would be expected to do on a regular basis.

Show a newbie around Ragnarok. Show them where important things, such as the shop, adventurer's guild, and lockers are. If you are feeling extra-adventurous, you could even leave the main drag and show other places further away from town.

Equip a newbie! Get them their basics...a guide, a monitor, moonstone earrings, pendant, a hemetite ring (or a shocking grasp ring), a treasure bag, butcher's apron, cross/ankh. Don't limit yourself to this list. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things.

Show off your teaching skills. Explain guilds to a newbie. Perhaps they don't understand how 'consider' works. Or they don't know why they ought to have a wimpy. Maybe Mr. Newbie doesn't understand the point of quests, or worse yet what constitutes what 'quest info.' Rather than complaining about a newbie that does not understand what you think are the basics, think back to when you were a newbie and did not understand these things. Then explain (very kindly) about these basic facts that must be accepted in Ragnarok. They will be greatly in your debt and will remember you forever!

Take a lower level player/hero on a killing spree. Or a money hunt. Whatever they need, help them get it. (Except quest points.)

Heal people at the statue. Many people sit there to heal. Perhaps you could speed up the process for them.

Surprise someone by randomly healing them. If you have a bauble, you can type 'folks' and see how everyone is doing. If someone is ailing (and NOT in a quest area), then run by and heal them. They'll enjoy the pleasant surprise visit.

Follow a friend around and heal them. Once again, we are a healing clan, and everyone enjoys when they can heal faster. If you follow someone around in a party, you can heal them and they can kill more. You've gotten your healing fix in, and they've gotten more experience faster. Everyone's happy.

If you have a wall spell and can cast it on others, cast a wall for the player so that they might make their kills by themselves and get more experience from it.

Buy/get drinks/food to share with others. Everyone gets hungry and thirsty sometimes. Why not buy your friends a round? It will even help them heal faster.

If auctioning off items, offer players/heros reduced rates, or even give items out for free.

Help people to get healing items, such as the cross, ankh, hemetite ring, or halo. Once again, there are more items than these. Feel free to get those too. You could even just randomly get these items and offer them to whomever would like them.

Look around for undead creatures. We feel bad for these poor souls who are trapped in bodies. Put them out of their misery and release their souls to go on to their next lives. This could include killing vampires, ghosts, demons, or skeletons. Look around, you are sure to find more! Remember, we don't like necromancers, since they like to keep things undead. As long as it's a NPC, you can kill the necro.

Be the healer in a party. Or just offer fellow partiers healings during the party. Just because you are the healer doesn't mean you can't be killing too.

Be the tank in a party. Volunteer to stand in the front line, while your friends are able to hit from behind you and not get hurt. This is especially helpful to younger players.

A Note about Quests

Remember that sharing quest info with players is not legal in Ragnarok. NEVER EVER give quest info, especially in the name of It-uile. If you do so, then you will not only be answering to the Wizards, you will also be answering to your fellow clan members. Expect a trial in front of the clan if you break any Ragnarok rules in the name of It-uile. But you know what, I know all of you are great people and would never break the rules, and so I know I wasted my breath saying all this...but just in case, you have been warned. :)
