How to Host a Clan Event

Anyone can host a clan event

Hosting a Clan Event is not as hard as one might expect. In fact any It-uile member may hold an impromptu clan event at any time, regardless of level or ranking. You can even have a clan event all by yourself! Want to know how? Well, just read on to find out!

First of all, not all Clan Events have to be announced in advance. Impromptu events are not only acceptable, but also encouraged. All it takes to make your event official is to write up a short description and mail it to Pixie to be posted on the Events page of the website.

Secondly, you can even be the only clan member online and still have a clan event! You can chose to help a newbie learn their way around Ragnarok, heal players, help players/heros to get more experience or money, or anything else of this sort. Once again, all you have to do is write up a short description of the event and mail it to Pixie to have it posted.

Just a few ideas for ya!

In need of some ideas for your next clan event? Well, keep on reading. Remember, this list is not all inclusive. You may well be able to think of something I haven't listed here that would work. Good luck to all those clan members who host impromptu clan events! (And don't forget, the more active you are, the more likely it will be noticed by your fellow clan members. When your comrades see that you are actively promoting It-uile, they will be more likely to recommend you for promotion. Additionally, it's a great way to get new members - when newbies and other players see how active you are and how much fun it is, they will want to join us also!) And now, for the long awaited list of clan event ideas:

Newbie Help

Show a newbie around Ragnarok. Show them where important things, such as the shop, adventurer's guild, and lockers are. If you are feeling extra-adventurous, you could even leave the main drag and show other places further away from town.

Equip a newbie! Get them their basics...a guide, a monitor, moonstone earrings, pendant, a hemetite ring (or a shocking grasp ring), a treasure bag, butcher's apron, cross/ankh. Don't limit yourself to this list. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things.

Show off your teaching skills. Explain guilds to a newbie. Or better yet, explain clans to them. Perhaps they don't understand how 'consider' works. Or they don't know why they ought to have a wimpy. Maybe Mr. Newbie doesn't understand the point of quests, or worse yet what constitutes what 'quest info.' Rather than complaining about a newbie that does not understand what you think are the basics, think back to when you were a newbie and did not understand these things. Then explain (very kindly) about these basic facts that must be accepted in Ragnarok. They will be greatly in your debt and will remember you forever!

Player Help

Take a lower level player/hero on a killing spree. Or a money hunt. Whatever they need, help them get it. (Except quest points.)

Heal people at the statue. Many people sit there to heal. Perhaps you could speed up the process for them.

Surprise someone by randomly healing them. If you have a bauble, you can type 'folks' and see how everyone is doing. If someone is ailing (and NOT in a quest area), then run by and heal them. They'll enjoy the pleasant surprise visit.

Follow a friend around and heal them. Once again, we are a healing clan, and everyone enjoys when they can heal faster. If you follow someone around in a party, you can heal them and they can kill more. You've gotten your healing fix in, and they've gotten more experience faster. Everyone's happy.

If you have a wall spell and can cast it on others, cast a wall for the player so that they might make their kills by themselves and get more experience from it.

Buy/get drinks/food to share with others. Everyone gets hungry and thirsty sometimes. Why not buy your friends a round? It will even help them heal faster.

If auctioning off items, offer players/heros reduced rates, or even give items out for free.

Help people to get healing items, such as the cross, ankh, hemetite ring, or halo. Once again, there are more items than these. Feel free to get those too. You could even just randomly get these items and offer them to whomever would like them.

Party Ideas

Look around for undead creatures. We feel bad for these poor souls who are trapped in bodies. Put them out of their misery and release their souls to go on to their next lives. This could include killing vampires, ghosts, demons, or skeletons. Look around, you are sure to find more! Remember, we don't like necromancers, since they like to keep things undead. As long as it's a NPC, you can kill the necro.

Be the healer in a party. Or just offer fellow partiers healings during the party. Just because you are the healer doesn't mean you can't be killing too.

Be the tank in a party. Volunteer to stand in the front line, while your friends are able to hit from behind you and not get hurt. This is especially helpful to younger players.

Role Playing Ideas

You can even have an event without ever leaving the comfort of your favorite location in Ragnarok (whether that be the statue, the clan hall, the house, etc.). We have a lovely channel around here called [RP]. Here you can develop your character. Remember that you are always in character on this particular channel. You can talk about all the healing and helping you've done, you can argue with another clan, or you could even offer your help to other players on the RP channel.

In addition to the RP channel, there is a Role Playing Board that you might post on. Perhaps you are feeling creative, and would like to post a little story. Or you would like to tell about how great It-uile is and what you do with It-uile. Whatever you want. Just make sure to stay in character on there, and to exhibit characteristics of It-uile. (Not the place to talk about such things as how you like to beat up poor, innocent children that are coming home from school. - Which I assume you don't do, because you are in It-uile and are not that kind of person.)

You can roleplay anywhere on the mud. This includes when you are sitting at the statue or if you run into someone in the shop. Only thing to remember is that not everyone wants to roleplay all of the time. If you are going to be harassing someone (for example, a necromancer or a member of another clan), it is best to send them a 'tell' and make sure it's OK with them. If someone says 'No thanks, I'm not in the mood to roleplay right now,' then respect their answer. Leave them alone and find someone else to roleplay with.

Final Comments

Finally, one last comment. Remember, if you want your event to be official, you need to post it on the board and/or mail it to Pixie so that she can add it to the clan website. Otherwise, you may have had the best clan event ever, but no one would ever know about it!

A Note about Quests

Remember that sharing quest info with players is not legal in Ragnarok. NEVER EVER give quest info, especially in the name of It-uile. If you do so, then you will not only be answering to the Wizards, you will also be answering to your fellow clan members. Expect a trial in front of the clan if you break any Ragnarok rules in the name of It-uile. But you know what, I know all of you are great people and would never break the rules, and so I know I wasted my breath saying all this...but just in case, you have been warned. :)
