I Am My Own Best Friend
Parker J. Palmer, an American writer and teacher, said: "Our deepest longing is t grow into our authentic selfhood, whether or not it conforms to some image of whowe ought to be. As we do so, we will not only find the joy that every human being seeks; we will also discover our role in serving the people in the world.
The way we think about ourselves, judge our actions, and view our future influence the way we think and relate with others. Thinking good about ourselves ultimately results in feeling good in ourselves. This feeling somehow radiates in the way we relate with others, building a more harmonious and life-giving community.
Befriending our own selves is perhaps the most important step in our struggle to become who we want to be. To do this, we need to see the many good things about ourselves in order to see the numerous possiblities that life holds for us. We need to discover our potentials and go through the process of refashioning ourselves and becoming better persons not only for our own sake but for others as well."
