Ice Box Episode 6.01 Homecoming (5/5/2008) Edward returns to the jail to collect some personal items hes collected over the past few months hes been there. He looks through the piles of paper which contain lyrics to new songs hes anxious to start working on. He looks around the cell. Im going to miss the solitude that I had here. Its nice to be alone for a while, he says as he finally leaves the cell room and walks down the hallway. He collects his clothes and other personal belongings that were kept in a holding area while he was there. He then walks by the dining area. Im certainly not going to miss the food, thats for sure, he says, Im ready for a good home cooked meal. He finally leaves the jail. Outside there are reporters and a group of citizens from town waiting for him. They all rush towards him. The local radio station is there. The radio personnel speaks to him as he tries to come down the steps, Mr. Crawford, now that you are released from prison, what will your life be like? Edward looks at him and speaks into the microphone, Its going to be very nice sleeping in my own bed and being able to go wherever I please. I would like to get home, so if youll excuse me. He squeezes through the group of people to a car. Inside the car waiting for him is his brother, Jamie. He puts his items in the back seat and then gets into the car in the front passenger side. Jamie puts the car in drive and starts to drive away. Jamie, I didnt expect you to be in here all by yourself! Did you get your license? Edward asks. His brother answers stating that he wanted some time alone with his brother and is excited to know he is finally coming home. And no, I didnt get my license yet. Mom let me drive the car home. She got a ride home with Elizabeth, because she had some things to do, or something, Jamie says as he smiles a coy smile knowing about the party at the Kane Manor. Oh, is she going to be home, Id like to talk to her later, Edward continues. Edwards brother smirks and nods his head up and down. Back in the town of Kane, Elizabeth and Mrs. Crawford are working on setting up decorations, tables with food, and a party list. On the other side of town, two people are working on setting up plans to ruin Edwards life. Myles and Irwin sit in their dark living room thinking of ways to plot attacks against Edward. Irwin looks at Myles, Why dont we do something to scare him before we really do him in? We could make him worry a little, make him so scared hell never leave his house again? Myles looks at Irwin and tells him he likes that idea. I wonder if the Kane Republican has been updated online for today. Maybe we should check it out. It may have an update on what Edward will be up to. We can do something to mess up his first day back, Myles tells Irwin. In fact the Kane Republican has been updated and the article states that tomorrow there will be a public party at the Kane Manor outside in the back lawn. It states there will be little games with prizes set up for little children and free food to celebrate Edwards return. Jamie pulls the car into the driveway to the Kane Manor. Edward looks out of the car window at his house. It feels so good to be home, Edward says with a smile on his face. Jamie parks the car and runs inside. Edward is left to carry his belongings inside by himself. Jamie rushes in to warn his mother and Elizabeth that Edward is here. The two drop what they are doing and rush to the front door. Edward arrives through the front door and puts his stuff in the entrance. He sees his mom and Elizabeth and begins to get teary eyed. Im so glad Im home, Edward says. Me too, the other three say in unison. Edward hugs his mother and Elizabeth while sharing a big thank you to each of them for being near him and helping him through a tough time in his life. After the hugs his mother is excited to tell him about tomorrows big plans. Edward sighs and smiles, I dont want Kane to be scared of me or hate me because of this. Obviously, I didnt do anything wrong. Do you think many people will show up? Mrs. Crawford looks at Edward straight in the eye and holds him by the arms, Listen honey, if they hate you, so be it. Thats their problem, not yours. If they dont show up, so what? This is your time to show the community you care and hopefully, they care back. But if they dont, its not your fault. Dont take it personally. There is a short pause then she continues, Its that damn police departments fault. No offense Elizabeth. Youre the only one thats worth much there. Edward makes a motion with his hands to stop his mother from blabbing. Lets not worry about that now, its time to relax and have some fun! Edward exclaims.
Ice Box Episode 6.02 Almost Complete Danger (5/14/2008) Mrs. Crawford is busy making dinner. As her meatballs are simmering in the spaghetti sauce, she breaks up the noodles. She removes the Italian bread from the bag and slices it. She uses a knife to spread her homemade butter and garlic concoction over the slices then puts them in the oven. Meanwhile, Elizabeth, Edward, and Jamie talk in the dining room. Elizabeth warns him of his enemies, Im sure whoever they are, they wont leave you be. Chances are they will be here tomorrow. We need to be ready for them. Jamie pipes in, Yeah! Its not fair what they did to you and you need to make sure they get what they deserve! Edward listens to them and then speaks, Elizabeth, I think youre right. We have to be prepared in case they decide to show up. Do you work tomorrow? No, Im off tomorrow. The chief has cut my hours. He says Ive caused him too many headaches, she answers. Good, is there any way you could keep a look out for suspicious activity? Edward continues. Elizabeth nods her head, Ill do anything to help out. Now Edward looks at Jamie. Revenge doesnt solve anything. If and when we find out who is responsible, the law will handle them. Its not our responsibility to punish people. I do agree with you on one thing that you said. It is definitely not fair. Soon Mrs. Crawford comes into the dining room. Jamie, will you please set the table and then help me bring in the food? she asks. Jamie sighs and then says, Why dont you ask Edward to do something? She walks up to him and says, Ill tell you why, as she gets close enough she smacks the back of his head. Get your lazy butt up, she continues. Jamie makes a face at Edward as he gets up to go to the kitchen. Edward and Elizabeth chuckle. Myles and Irwin are just finishing reading the article online about Edwards public party at the Kane Manor. At first Myles thinks it may be a trap. He soon changes his mind. Irwin looks at Myles. He stares for quite some time until Myles asks why he is staring. Its your face, he tells Myles. Whats wrong with my face? he asks. Irwin answers, Nothing, but its a shame we cant have more fun with it. What kind of fun did you have in mind? asks Myles. Well, Irwin explains, what if we get Edward to be trapped in a closet or bathroom upstairs during the party, we replace him with you! No one would ever know! Itd be so much fun. Myles nods his head and smiles. But how are we going to get Edward to be by himself and have no one notice what were going to do? Myles asks him. Irwin thinks. There is silence. Myles searches on Google. He types in Kane Manor in the search bar. A few websites come up. Myles clicks on the first one. The website was created by the historical society long ago. He clicks on a few more links on the page. Suddenly he finds an old floor plan. The picture loads and he studies it for a little while. Irwin watches Myles as he ponders what to do. Myles points to the screen, There, he says. Here is where we need to trap him, he continues as he points to a room in the basement. It says there is an extra room that leads to an old tunnel created during the Civil War for slaves escaping to Canada. We could somehow get him down there and trap him in there. No one could hear him scream for help, Myles explains. He could be down there for days! Irwin exclaims. The problem is, is how do we get him down there without anyone else? asks Irwin. Thats a very good question, Myles comments. Back at the Kane Manor the Crawford family and Elizabeth are just finishing dinner. Mrs. Crawford stands up and asks Jamie if he is finished while extending her arm to reach for his plate. Jamie says, Yes, Im finished. Thank you for a wonderful meal. He slides back in his chair as if hes a king and is expecting to relax. His mother, who is still reaching for his plate, stops. Good, you can help me clear the table and do the dishes, she says with a smile. Jamie looks at her with a are you serious look. His mothers smile disappears and she raises one eyebrow as if to say, You think Im joking? Jamie gets up and helps bring dishes into the kitchen. Elizabeth and Edward remain in the dining room. Since my moms in the kitchen, what kind of suspicious activity are we looking for? asks Edward. Elizabeth thinks then responds, Anything out of the ordinary. If something doesnt feel right, let me know. Dont wait until youre in complete danger. I dont know what to expect, but all I know is that you need to be careful. Edwards mother pops her head into the dining room and asks if anyone wants dessert. Both shake their heads. In the kitchen, Jamie asks his mom if he can have some dessert. His mom says, Yes, but only when the dishes are done and you make a pot of coffee. Jamie who was excited to hear her say yes, is now dreading the dishes even more. He continues to scrub away. Edward asks Elizabeth if she would like to go for a walk. Elizabeth nods her head and says, Its been forever since we walked together. I hope we can remember the old walking route. Edward laughs, We could walk that route in our sleep! The two leave as Jamie continues to wash the dishes. His mother makes the coffee. She looks at the time, Oh look! Seven oclock, time for Wheel! she says as she makes an escape to the living room. Jamie quickly hurries with the dishes.
Ice Box Episode 6.03 All Through The Night (5/24/2008) On their walk Edward and Elizabeth recall old memories. Remember when there were four of us that went walking? Edward asks. Yeah, there were us, Lynne, and Thomas. I havent spoken to them in a very long time. Last thing I remember was after Lynne and her family moved we would talk on the phone a few times a week. Now Im lucky if I get to talk to her or get an e-mail from her. And as for Thomas, well, we havent talked since before he started dating Victoria, she says. Edward recalls the drama between everyone and Thomas, but says nothing. He finally speaks, All I care to remember were the good times we had walking. There was the joke about the shopping cart we said was your car and the burning barrel that was your house. When the burning barrel moved spots you said it was a mobile home. Do you remember what you said about the beer bottles that were scattered under the Poplar Street Bridge? Elizabeth thinks but cannot remember. You said that you threw a party, Edward answers. Those were great times, he continues. They come to the Poplar Street Bridge and pause to look below. The barrel and shopping cart are both gone. The sun is starting to set behind them. The two continue their walk. When they arrive on the Hemlock Street hill Edward remembers another moment, but doesnt comment. Elizabeth who remembers the event asks Edward if he remembers, Do you remember when you drank a lot of water one day and had to go the bathroom in the middle of a walk? Now that was a good memory. Edward lets out a fake chuckle. The two arrive back at the Kane Manor. Elizabeth drives home and Edward walks inside. Jamie is asleep on the floor and his mom is watching the television. Mom, can I ask you a serious question? Edward asks. In their one bedroom apartment, Irwin and Myles lay in their beds. It is quiet until the sound of sheets rustling is heard. Myles tosses and turns. He continues and then punches his pillow a few times, hoping that will help him fall asleep. He lies back down. He stares at the ceiling for a minute or so that feels like forever. He tosses once more. Irwin, who is across the room, watches him. Whats wrong? Cant sleep? Irwin asks him. Myles sighs, Im not tired for some reason. Irwin sits up, Do you suppose its because of tomorrow? I suppose. I feel anxious and excited. Tomorrow, if all goes according to plan, Ill be a celebrity. I hope no one notices, Myles explains. Irwin, who likes to be prepared, asks what hell do if anyone does notice that he is not Edward. Myles thinks, and then responds, Well, if anyone does notice, the only way around it would be to lie. Ill say Im sick or something or I didnt get a good nights sleep. Do you think thatll work? It might, but you better get to sleep soon if you want everything to work out for the best, Irwin states as he lies back down. Ill try, Myles says as he closes his eyes. Soon both fall asleep. In the living room of the Kane Manor, Mrs. Crawford listens to her son. What do you think about moving in here? It would be so nice to have all the Crawfords living under one roof. Dont you think? Edward asks his mother. She pauses to think for a moment. I suppose that it would be nice, but, Mrs. Crawford says, I dont know if we should. Edward thinks about what she means, finally he asks her. Well, you just came home from prison and you have to get reorganized with living here and I dont want it to seem like I cant live on my own raising Jamie, she explains leaving out another reason she doesnt want to move in. Edward tries to convince her that it wont seem like she cant live on her own and that hes organized enough. She tells him shell sleep on it and give him an answer soon. Speaking of sleep, I suggest we both get some. We have a big day tomorrow, she says as they both listen to Jamie snoring away on the floor. Mrs. Crawford tries to wake him up. When this proves to be unsuccessful she suggests moving him to the couch. Edward thinks about what Jamie might say about moving and plans on asking him tomorrow. He offers his mom the guest bedroom for the night. She accepts and goes to bed. Before Edward goes to bed he looks at his brother. He always did snore like a train, he says out loud then recalls a memory of a poetry tea where he recited a poem he wrote about his brother. Edward is in the middle school cafeteria standing in front of a crowd behind a podium. He forgets the words to the poem now, but remembers the feeling of writing the best poem in the sixth grade. His brother was sitting with their mom and turned red from embarrassment. I know I have that poem somewhere, he says, Maybe Ill look for it one of these days. The poem reminds him of being at home, sharing a bedroom with Jamie. He smiles then goes to his bedroom. He is unable to sleep. He tosses and turns. Finally he is asleep and Kane is peaceful until tomorrow.
Ice Box Episode 6.04 Imposter at the Kane Manor (6/6/2008) Jamie is the first to wake up and decides to make some breakfast. Mrs. Crawford wakes up to the smell of coffee. Edward sleeps in his bed trying to catch up on lost sleep. Mrs. Crawford arrives into the kitchen and pours herself a cup of coffee. Youre up early, she says to her son, Is your brother up yet? I havent seen him. I think hes still in bed. Do you want any eggs and toast? he asks his mother. No thanks. I better go get Edward up, the party vendors will be arriving soon, she says. She takes her coffee with her and knocks on Edwards door, Time to wake up, Edward. Five more minutes, mom, is the response heard from the other side of the door. Mrs. Crawford pauses and is taken by surprise, Wow, I havent heard those words from his lips in a very long time. She now shouts at the door, You need to get up! The vendors will be here in less than an hour and you must shower and eat something. Youll be able to sleep later! Edward rolls out of bed, puts on his pajamas and walks with his mother down stairs. The three of them eat breakfast and shower. Myles is awakened by Irwin shaking him. Get up! he shouts, If you dont get up now well never be able to follow through with our plans. A cranky Myles sits up and then showers. Irwin finishes getting ready and pushes Myles to hurry. Finally the two are ready. Myles looks at a bottle on the table. He picks up the bottle from the dripper lid and says, Just a few drops and hell be out like a fat kid in dodge ball. Irwin asks where he got the bottle. Myles explains that it was the medicine he was given after his plastic surgery that he never finished, You add one to two drops in any liquid and it relaxes you. Three to four drops will make you so relaxed youll feel like taking a nap. Irwin nods while smiling and gazing upon the bottle. Back at the Kane Manor, vendors are starting to show up. Mrs. Crawford is outside explaining the set up to them. Soon everyone is set and ready to go by ten in the morning. Edward comes outside to check on things. He talks to his mom, How are things? Everything okay? His mom explains that everything is fine and he doesnt need to worry. After he asks his mom over and over if anything needs done, she becomes upset and sends him inside to relax. As Edward is walking back to his bedroom he sees someone out the front door. He goes to the door to see what the stranger needs. Hello, can I help you? Edward asks the stranger. The stranger asks to come in, Im a diabetic and Im afraid I need some juice. Would you be able to get me some, Im terribly sorry. Edward who is sympathetic allows the stranger to come in and has him follow him into the kitchen. As Edward gets the juice the stranger asks where the cups are. Edward answers and the stranger gets two cups and sets them down on the counter. Four drops of a liquid are dropped into one of the glasses. He brings the glasses over to Edward and he pours the juice. The stranger is in fact Irwin. He raises his glass to Edward as if to say bottoms up. They both finish their glasses and Irwin explains that hes helping with the Poor Mans Caramel Apple stand. The two make small talk, and then Irwin mentions the tunnel for run away slaves. Edward says the entrance is in the basement. Irwin asks to see it and Edward shows him the way to the basement. Mrs. Crawford is outside making sure everything is ready. A few of the towns citizens show up. Around eleven oclock Elizabeth shows up. She walks around to the back where all the vendors are. She sees Mrs. Crawford. How are things going? she asks. Mrs. Crawford answers her, Things are going okay. Elizabeth looks around hoping to spot Edward. She doesnt see him. Where is Edward? she finally asks giving up trying to spot him. I sent him inside for the time being. Hes become a bit of a worrywart, she answers. Oh, I think Im going to go find him, Elizabeth says. Irwin is taken down into the basement with Edward by his side. Dont mind the mess, he says before yawning. Edward apologizes for yawning, Im sorry, I didnt sleep well last night. Irwin watches him closely. Here it is, he says to Irwin. Irwin looks confused as Edward opens a modern looking door and inside is his studio. Edward yawns a few more times. I had the ground dug out more and now it is my sound proof studio. If you open that door there, he explains as another yawn escapes him, is whats left of the tunnel. Edward opens the second door then collapses. Irwin speaks, Talk about cutting that close. He checks to see if Edward is out cold by rocking him side to side. Once he is sure he talks through a walkie-talkie, Harriet Tubman is a go. Through another walkie-talkie Myles says, Master is coming. Myles is seen walking around the front of the Kane Manor. Irwin must now get out of the house unnoticed by Elizabeth, and Myles must be able to pull this scam off without anyone realizing.
Ice Box Episode 6.05 Suspicions (6/11/2008) Myles walks around to the front door of the Kane Manor. He walks in. Elizabeth walks in from the back door and notices him. She runs up to him and gives him a hug. Myles becomes shocked, but puts on arm around her back. Elizabeth asks him about the party. Myles finally speaks to her, Its okay. She explains that she talked to his mother outside and she told her that he was inside. She wants you to stop worrying so much, she continues, Just relax a little today. Nothing bad is going to happen. Im sure it wont now that youre here. Myles says. Elizabeth looks at him with a puzzled face. Are you okay? Youre acting a little weird today, she asks. Myles looks at her with a puzzled face of his own. Downstairs in the basement, Irwin thinks. If I was trapped in a room for a few days, what would I want? he asks himself. I know! he exclaims. He grabs a pen and a piece of paper. He writes down a few things. Afterwards he looks at his watch, I have to hurry. I only have a few hours before he wakes up. He drags Edward further into the room where the tunnel used to start. He closes the door and heads upstairs to look for the things he needs. Outside Mrs. Crawford and Jamie are awaiting Edward and Elizabeth so they can start the festivities. She looks at her son. You sure were out cold last night. Did you sleep okay? she asks him. He looks at her and tells her he slept fine but lets her know he heard Edward up a few times during the night. He has some things on his mind, Jamie. In fact, so do I. I might as well share this with you because it will affect you too. Edward wants us to move in with him, she explains to him. What did you tell him? he asks her. I told him I would sleep on it. I had the worst nights sleep ever, she says. Well, what are your thoughts on this? he asks her. She looks at him. I was kind of hoping youd tell me your thoughts first, she says with a half-smile. He looks out around the yard filling up with people. Ill have to think about it, he tells her. Myles tries his best to convince her that he is just feeling under the weather. She begins to believe him and then says, That might asks explain your voice. It sounds different. Myles soon realizes that pretending to be someone else doesnt just depend on appearance. He hopes he wont have to sing. All of a sudden Irwin opens the door to the basement. Myles sees this and tells Elizabeth they should go outside. He pulls on her arm and she is forced to follow him. Once they are outside he tells her to enjoy herself and that he must go back inside for something. Outside Elizabeth joins the rest of the Crawfords and some town folk. She walks up to Jamie and his mother. Did you find him? asks Mrs. Crawford to Elizabeth. She responds, I think I found him. Both look at her puzzled. What do you mean think? Jamie asks her. Well, Im not sure. Physically I found him, but mentally, I didnt, Elizabeth explains. Jamie and his mother look at each other and then Jamie says that he seemed fine earlier. Mrs. Crawford comments, He has been taking this time a bit stressful. Hes worried is all, Im sure. I dont know, but somethings off. Ill figure it out eventually I suppose, she tells them. Back inside Myles opens the basement door to find Irwin. Be careful! If anyone finds you in here, theyll ask a lot of questions, Myles warns him. After he calms down, Irwin explains what he was doing, Look, we dont want to kill him, right? Well then, we need to talk care of him, at least for a few days. I made a list of things we need. Irwin points to the list then tells him what he needs to find. I understand the food and water, but why do you need a bucket, candles, and books? Myles asks. Irwin looks at him in disbelief, You try going the bathroom on the floor and laying in it. Myles then asks, Couldnt we just find newspapers to put down? Itd be easier. This isnt a new puppy. I know it worked on Big Daddy, but come on! Irwin exclaims. Myles who is pressed for time tells him that he has to go and get whatever it is that he needs but to stay out of sight. Myles meets everyone outside. The towns folk are excited to see him and cheers are heard. Mrs. Crawford and Elizabeth clap, but Jamie stares down his brother. Jamie stands with his arms crossed. His mother taps him on the back of the head. He rolls his eyes and claps lethargically. Myles smiles at the crowd and waves. One citizen yells, Speech! loudly so everyone can hear. Soon everyone is quiet, awaiting his first words to the public. First off I should say Im feeling a big under the weather, but that wont stop me from having a great time. I just want everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves! Myles says to the crowd. Mrs. Crawford looks at her son suspiciously. She turns to Elizabeth and says, Thats not the speech he told me about this morning! Wait till I get a moment alone with him. His other speech was so much better. Jamie takes this all in. A young child yells at Edward to sing a song. Myles stands in shock, unsure of what to do or say.
Ice Box Episode 6.06 A Rude Awakening (6/26/2008) Standing on the north portico Myles calms the crowd by moving his palms up and down. The crowd calms and Myles speaks to them, I had a rough night and Im not feeling well enough to perform my best. I hope you all understand. Jamie, Mrs. Crawford, and Elizabeth look at who they think is Edward in disbelief. Mrs. Crawford whispers to Jamie and Elizabeth, What is he doing? He was so worried about the town liking him and having things back to normal and now he pulls this? This is strike two. One more and Im going to take him aside and give him a stern talking to! As she speaks her voice gets louder. Elizabeth shrugs and Jamie shakes his head. Myles now yells to the small crowd, Now, let the fun begin! After he does so he pulls Elizabeth close and kisses her on the lips! Elizabeth is shocked. Down in the basement Irwin sets everything in order. He sets five candles and a box of matches next to a book. He sets a bucket behind Edward and next to that a roll of toilet paper. He stops what he is doing to look at Edward. He is lying motionlessly on the dirt floor. Irwin double checks everything then takes a match, lights it, and then lights a candle in front of Edwards face. Edward squints his eyes tight. Irwin gets up, checks his watch, and then closes and locks the door. Edward opens his eyes seeing the bright light from a single flame and behind that more light that is fading from the door closing. Irwin locks three dead bolts he put up to secure Edward. Irwin looks behind him at the door, and then walks away. In New York City two businessmen are in a conference room. They discuss a very serious situation. Listen, we cant get out of this one. We have a contract with the school to let some interns manage some of our clients. How many interns do we have to worry about? one man asks the other. The other man shuffles through papers, Well, we only have to take one. We could take up to five. Its up to you and what you want to do. He then waits for a response. Id rather take just one and give the intern one of our clients that we wouldnt mind to loose. Ill need a list of our clients that havent been busy lately. When can I expect that list? is the response. The man shuffles through papers again. Here is a list of clients that havent done anything in one to two years. Here is the same list with those clients that we wouldnt mind loosing, the man says as he hands the papers over. Towards the top of both papers is Edward Crawford. Half the day goes by before Mrs. Crawford takes Myles aside. Believing he is Edward she carries on the conversation she had with him previously regarding the family moving in. So, Edward, she says, getting his attention, what is going on? Myles takes to the defense as if shes on to him being an imposter, What do you mean? Nothings going on, nothing out of the ordinary. Why do you ask? She tells him to settle down and relax. But since you brought it up, kissing Elizabeth is nothing out of the ordinary? I think someone has some explaining to do. Dont you think? she says as she moves her large white sunglasses down her nose just enough to see him. He thinks on his feet about the incident and thinks about an answer, Well, mom, you see, I have something to tell you. Im in love with her. I should have told you sooner, I know. Im sorry. With another surprise from her supposed son, she is shocked knowing in the past the two had talked about this and came to a decision to just remain friends. Well, this comes to a shock to me, but maybe you should have told her first. She is upset and Ive noticed shes been avoiding you. Perhaps you should have told her youre sorry instead of telling me. Anyway, we needed to talk about us moving in. If its okay with Jamie, I think were going to do it, she says then waits for a response from him. After he listens to her he pauses a moment, then speaks, Cool. She takes off her sunglasses, Thats it? Thats all you have to say? She puts her glasses back on and storms off. Myles watches her then moves his eyes to Elizabeth, who is with Jamie. With a smile he walks over to them. Inside the dark tunnel, Edward sits up. What the hell? Whats going on? he thinks to himself. Feeling quite refreshed he picks up the candle to search his surroundings. He realizes hes in a dirt room; then he assumes hes in the tunnel. He checks the door, but its locked. Before the normal person would react, he thinks, If Im in the tunnel, Im surrounded by dirt except for the door. The door leads out to the studio. The studio is sound proof. This all means it would be pointless to panic. Damn. What else is in here? Maybe I can McGuyver my way out of this. A book, great. Stephen King, even better. He sits down and begins to read The Stand. A little later while Edward reads in the tunnel, Mrs. Crawford gets ready to go home. She walks out of the bathroom to find Jamie there. The two discuss the day and how strange Edward has been. She explains what happened earlier when she and Edward spoke. Jamie gets mad and tells her he is going to leave with Elizabeth. Mrs. Crawford kisses her son on the forehead then leaves. When she gets home she readies herself for a quick nap. She changes into pajamas. Suddenly she is panic stricken. Her right breast hurts terribly. She puts her hand over it. The pain doesnt stop. She begins to rub it to try and heal the pain. While she is rubbing her breast, she feels an unusual lump. She begins to worry. The pain goes away soon after. Im sure it will go away in a day or two. Its nothing to worry about.
Ice Box Episode 6.07 Help! I Need Somebody (7/18/2008) Edward sits on the dirt floor in the tunnel reading. He is a few chapters into the Stand by Stephen King. Thank goodness this is a long book. Im sure someone will notice Im not there and come looking for me. If someone comes into the studio Ill pound on the door. Thats my only hope. In the meantime Ill go on reading about the end of humanity. Leave it to the government to mess everything up. I wonder if this could really happen, he talks to himself. A calm Edward continues to read. Back in New York City the two businessmen decide the fate of an intern and one of their clients. Lets figure out the clients before I have to be put in a nursing home, he tells his partner as he looks over the list of their clients that havent been busy. There are a few names on there that are scheduled to come out with something later in the year. Should we cross off their names? the other man says. There is a short pause until he decides on what to do. Theres no time, he says as he puts the lists down. He picks up a pen and holds it by the cap. He makes an arch with his arm and brings the pen down next to the name of the client a new intern will be in charge of. Myles walks over to Elizabeth and Jamie back at the little fair. He smiles at them both as Elizabeth plans to ignore him for the time being. Jamie looks at him with anger in his eyes. So, is everyone enjoying themselves? he asks them. There is no answer. Okay then, Ill take that as a no. Whats got everyones nipples tweaked? he says. Elizabeth continues the silent treatment. Jamie on the other hand grows angrier. He speaks, Who are you and what have you done with my brother? Myles begins to worry, but remains calm, What are you talking about? Im right here and Im perfectly fine. Jamie, who also knew about Edward and Elizabeths deal, becomes furious. I was being sarcastic! You are definitely not fine. Somethings wrong with you. Either you explain yourself or Im going home, he demands. Myles shrugs with a smile. Fine, whatever, Jamie says as he pushes past Myles. After a few steps he turns around to wait for Elizabeth. Do you have a problem with me too? he speaks to Elizabeth. You should know when I have a problem with you. Jamie was right. Who the hell are you and what have you done with Edward! she yells. Myles lets his anger get the best of him and yells back, I locked him in a tunnel! This is a new Edward and if you dont like it, you can just take your white trash bodies home! Jamie and Elizabeth storm off. Myles cannot believe what he just said. He runs after them. Elizabeth starts her car and Jamie gets in. Myles taps on the window. Jamie rolls it down. I didnt mean it, I was sarcastic! Myles tries to cover his tracks. The two drive off. Dust from the driveway surrounds Myles. Who needs them. I certainly dont. Jamie is just like the rest of his family, stuck up little snobs. I have a party to get back to, Myles says as he turns around. When he returns he notices everyone has left and the vendors are packing up. Mrs. Crawford lies on the couch. Her pain in her right breast has subsided. She looks at the other end of the couch where Shelby lays. The black lab looks at her. It begins to pant. Oh Shelby, what has happened to my Edward? I may change my mind about moving in. What do you think? What do you want to do? You know what; youre a great listener when you want to be. I just wish you could talk, she talks to the dog. Shelby moves closer to her and Mrs. Crawford pets her head. They both turn to watch the television. Wheel of Fortune finishes and she begins to watch CSI. Her eyes begin to feel heavy. Soon she is asleep and dreaming. She dreams of being in the hospital, being wheeled in a stretcher down a hallway. The stretcher comes to a stop in an operating room. She hears a doctor speak, The cancer has spread. We are going to have to amputate her breasts. I hope shell make it through the surgery. Then as beeping comes from machines, a nurse is heard, Shes losing a lot of blood. Mrs. Crawford wakes up in a cold sweat and startles the dog. Edward continues to read about a virus that kills most of the humans in America. He pauses from his reading and places the book on his lap. Im really glad this is just fiction. This super-flu is terrible. I wonder what everyone else is doing. I hope theyre having a good time, he talks to himself. He grabs a bottle of water and begins to drink. He feels his bladder becoming full. What I would do for a toilet right now. At least I know what a dog in the middle of a field feels like now; no tree no toilet. All I have is a bucket. Thats going to smell, he says and then sighs. In the corner he decides to relieve himself into a bucket. He continues, Im really glad they didnt put newspapers down; Im not a new puppy.
Ice Box Episode 6.08 Freedom Has Its Price (8/6/2008) Myles watches the vendors pack up and leave. He goes inside to an empty house. He grabs his cell phone and calls Irwin. He answers his phone, Irwin, where are you? Im here watching CSI, Irwin answers. Watching CSI where? Myles becomes agitated. Im upstairs in one of the bedrooms. Why? is the response. Get down here; we have work to take care of, Myles demands. Irwin shuts off the television and goes down the steps. He is met by an angry Myles. Pack up, were leaving tonight, he tells Irwin. Irwin asks him why they are leaving tonight and Myles explains, Im tired of being this low life. Hes as boring as you can get. On the plus side of things, Im caused quite enough drama for him Im sure. I wish I could see the face on Edward when he finds out what hes been up to. Ill explain all the details about that later. Lets pack up and well let Edward out early in the morning so he can have all the fun in the world. After most of the offices are empty and dark, one remains with its lights on. Two gentlemen continue their work. The easy work is done. We have the client, now all we need is the lucky intern. Are we in charge of choosing one or is that the colleges responsibility? he says. Thats a very good question. Let me see, the other man states as he looks through papers in a file folder. It says we can express an interest, but the college gets to chose. The other man asks if they have possible intern information on file. The other man says yes and lifts a small, yet heavy box full of files. Id rather not go through all these files tonight. It is getting rather late. Perhaps we could do this tomorrow, he suggests. No, were picking an intern tonight. Weve wasted enough time today, he says as he becomes anxious to go home. Its going to be easier than choosing one of our clients. The clients are more important to us than some ignorant intern, he continues. He moves the box toward him. He runs his finger over the top of the files. Tell me when to stop, he instructs the other man. Stop, he tells him as his finger stops on a file. He pulls out the file and flips through the papers. This intern looks very good. Youve made a good decision. Notify the college tomorrow about a Mr. Bradley Fulton. Hes one lucky man perhaps, he instructs his partner. The two pack up and head home for the night. Mrs. Crawford is in her car outside her home. She speaks to herself as she thinks about her pain in her breast. Get a hold of yourself. What are you worried about? Okay, so cancer and death are somethings to worry about. What if its not cancer? What if its just something I ate? Maybe its just heart burn. I should just go inside and go to bed. I cant leave. Jamies sleeping. If he wakes while Im gone hell panic. Hes sixteen years old, he can take care of himself. Then again its ten thirty. The emergency room is pry closed. This hospital is a joke. She recalls a time when Edward was in high school and went to the emergency room at nine thirty and there was only one doctor and nurse on call. So returns to the situation at hand, To go or wait, that is the question, she continues as she starts the car. She waits to put the car in drive. She sighs and drives to the hospital. She parks the car and sits in the car for what seems forever. She unbuckles her seat belt, then waits another five minutes. She sighs and walks through the emergency room doors. There is no one at the receptions desk. She stands and waits. Frustrated, she turns around to leave. A nurse appears, Miss? Did you need something? Mrs. Crawford speaks under her breath, Figures, right when youre about to leave. She turns around to the nurse, Yes, I had a sharp pain in my right breast. I was wondering if I could get a check up. Late at night Myles and Irwin sneak down into the studio. They hope not to wake Edward. Lucky for them Edward is a heavy sleeper. With a screw driver in hand and ski masks over their faces they unlock the doors locks and open the door slowly. Edward is asleep and the two remove the locks. When they finish they leave the door ajar just enough for Edward to realize the door is open when he wakes up. They pack up their other things, walk out of the Kane Manor, and calmly go home to sleep. Tomorrow they make their new plans which will happen over the next few months. The next morning Edward wakes up and notices the door opened just a little. He runs to the door. He opens it and runs all the way up to the first story towards the kitchen. He goes outside to take a deep breath of fresh air. No one is there, but the grass looks like it was smashed down from people walking. He sighs, Im sure everyones looking for me. I better let them know Im okay. He calls Elizabeth, but she doesnt answer. He calls his brother next, but again no answer. Edward goes back to the tunnel to clean it up. The urine is strong. He takes the bucket outside after grabbing his keys. He drives to his familys house. He goes inside. Shelby, the family pet, greets him at the door. He pets her and then talks to the dog, Where is everyone girl? Shelby runs upstairs and Edward follows. Mom, what are you doing sleeping? he asks her. Well lets see, Im tired. Its what I do when Im tired, she answers still bitter about yesterday. Why arent you out looking for me? Youre right there, I dont feel like playing hide and go seek. You mean you didnt miss me yesterday? Not really, is the answer. Edward becomes upset, I was kidnapped and locked in the tunnel under the Manor, and you dont care? Mrs. Crawford sits up with wide eyes.
Ice Box Episode 6.09 It Cant Be True (8/10/2008) Early morning the two businessmen in NYC are hard at work again. One man looks for the college information to give them a call and explain what has happened. He finds the phone number and dials. A voice over the phone speaks, NYU, this is Julie, how may I direct your call? I need the business majors department. She tells him that he has reached the business department and he explains the news. She tells him she will leave a message for the dean and he will call them back. In about an hour the dean gives him a call. The dean tells them he will contact Bradley and send him over to the management building in the next day or two. The management team asks if its okay for them to contact him themselves. The dean tells them they can and that hell send over the internship paperwork later today to finalize things. They finish the phone call with the dean and then call Bradley to tell him the great news. Edward and his mother go into the kitchen and he explains what happened over a cup of coffee. He explains that he passed out and woke up in the tunnel. The door was locked and I was trapped. I couldnt get out, he continues. Mrs. Crawford looks at him, interested in the story. Who put you in there? she asks. Edward shrugs, The last thing I remember is that a man was at the front door. He worked for one of the food stands. He said he was a diabetic and needed juice. Thats all I remember. The muscle relaxant that was in his drink has affected his memory. Mrs. Crawford looks at her son and explains that hes gone crazy. She explains that he was there the whole time. That he spoke to the crowd, kissed Elizabeth and made her upset about her decision of moving in. Edward is delighted about her decision, but wants more information on what else he supposedly did. He is told that is basically it and he rushes to call Elizabeth for help. It is early afternoon and the Kane Republican has a shocking article with the headline, Kane Fest Cancelled. According to the article the borough council is no longer able to have the festival at the elementary school in the middle of town. The council has thought of a new site such as the park across from the school, but will be unable to block off the park to collect an admission fee. It also states that declining vendors and the lack of man power are other reasons to cancel the event. The mayor was quoted as saying, It is a terrible thing to cancel this event. Kane Fest was the biggest event for Kane. The citizens will be upset, Im sure. However, there is nothing more we can do at this time. Irwin and Myles are at home in their one bedroom apartment. There are suitcases on the bed filled with their clothes and a few other small belongings. Myles turns to Irwin and says, I should probably call my mom and see if we can go ahead with this, if she says no, were back to square one. He grabs his cell phone and dials the Kane Republican office. Mrs. Montgomery answers the phone, Hello, this is the Kane Republican, this is Mrs. Montgomery. Myles speaks, Mom? Mrs. Montgomery is taken aback. Myles? Is that you? she asks. Yes, it is. I have some sad news to tell you. She becomes concerned about her son, What is it? He responds, I got into trouble and I need some help. She asks him what kind of trouble hes in and how she can help. Myles explains, Well, lets just say I need some money. She becomes upset, and asks why he needs money. He continues to answer her questions, I made a few bad investments in California and I want to come back home to live. I miss you, mom. Feeling sorry for her son and wanting him to come home, she asks how much money he needs in order to come home. He tells her he needs about $25,000. She is shocked at the amount, but because she is wise with money has the amount to give to her son. She asks how she should send the money. He tells her she cant send it in the mail, and that shell have to send it through Pay Pal online. He tells her the details and the money is sent. Thank you so much, mom. I wont be able to come home for a little while though. I have some more business to attend to before I can do that. Dont worry, okay. I love you, goodbye. In NYC Bradley receives his phone call from the management building. Were pleased to tell you that wed like to have you as an intern. Is this something youd be interested in? Bradley is excited and accepts the position. The management team tells him to come over tomorrow to fill out paperwork and get some more information on his internship. Edward speaks to his brother and convinces him to call Elizabeth. Tell her to come over as soon as she can, he tells him. She explains that she is at work, but will stop over around five oclock when shes done. After five she comes over and Jamie answers the door. He lets her in and to her surprise Edward and Mrs. Crawford are sitting in the living room. She asks why Jamie called her to come over. Edward speaks to her, I asked him to call you. I have some explaining to do. Yes, you sure do, Edward! she raises her voice at him. Please, sit down, its a complicated story, he tells her. She refuses and he begins to explain his story, starting with the diabetic at the door. He finishes his story about staying in the tunnel. She begins to think for a second and remembers the kiss. Furious, she looks at him and says, It cant be true, I dont believe you! Edwards mouth drops in surprise, expecting her, of all people, to believe him.
Ice Box Episode 6.10 Moving Along (8/22/2008) Elizabeth and the Crawfords sit in their living room. Edward is trying to convince her that he was locked in a tunnel since early that morning. Since Myles pretended to be him, she believes he was there the whole time. Youre just making this up to apologize for yesterday. I cant believe you would make an excuse instead of apologizing, she says. I dont believe you either, Jamie adds, Yesterday you were so mean to both of us. You called us white trash. Edward hears more of the events that took place while he was in the tunnel. What can I do to prove to you that I was in the tunnel? Edward asks. Elizabeth and Jamie think for a moment. I dont know what you can do, Elizabeth says as she crosses her arms. There is a few seconds of silence, when all of a sudden Jamie shouts, I know what you can do! Edward, kiss Elizabeth! Bradley walks around New York City. He walks to the management building. So this is where it is. Tomorrow I sign my life away to this company. I have to succeed in order to graduate, he speaks to himself. He begins to walk away. I wonder if Ill have a famous client. I wonder if Katy Perry is signed to them, he says as he begins to daydream. He daydreams about managing her. He stops daydreaming to get a fresh pretzel and sits down on a bench. He begins to daydream again. He imagines her giving him a private concert. She sings I Kissed A Girl to him. Suddenly he snaps out of his dream because a homeless man asks for change. Bradley, upset by the end of the dream, drops a dollar bill in his cup. Bradley walks back to his apartment. In their one bedroom apartment, Myles and Irwin finish packing. Irwin pulls out his laptop. He and Myles check the money in their pay pal account. The $25,000 is there and they transfer it into their bank account. Irwin closes his laptop. The two get in their car and travel to Pittsburgh International Airport. They buy two tickets to California. Soon they are on their way. Irwin looks at Myles. He looks at his face for a long time. Myles notices, and speaks to Irwin, What? Irwin smiles, Im excited to see your old face again. However, I may miss this one, he tells him. Well, stop staring at me. It creeps me out, Myles says. Irwin looks away. The two watch the in-flight movie and take a nap. Back at the Crawfords house, Edward and Elizabeth both snap their heads at Jamie who suggested he kiss her. Edward speaks to him, How would that prove I was in the tunnel? Jamie shrugs and smirks, Youll see. Edward becomes frustrated at him and says, The kiss wont solve anything. Itll just cause more problems. Besides we made a deal we would remain friends and nothing more. I dont want to jeopardize our friendship, or, well, whats left of it anyway. Elizabeth looks at Edward, You mean that? He looks at her and swears he meant every word. Elizabeth begins to think back to yesterday, Edwards voice was different, and he wasnt acting like himself. She says whats on her mind and Mrs. Crawford explains that she had a feeling something was amiss with her son. They all assume that this is the real Edward, but Elizabeth is still cautious. The phone rings and Mrs. Crawford leaves the room to answer it. Hello? she says over the phone. Hello, this is Ann from Dr. Sahalies office, whom am I speaking with? the voice over the phone says. This is Mrs. Crawford, she answers. Ann explains to her that she needs to speak with her about her visit to the hospital. Is it serious? asks a scared Mrs. Crawford. Your tests came back inconclusive. Well need you to come back in anytime this week from more tests, Ann explains. Ill be in as soon as I can make it, a somber Mrs. Crawford says. Their conversation ends. She returns to the living room. Mom, whats wrong? Edward asks. Nothing hunny, she responds. Elizabeth notices something is wrong and leaves for home. Although the family sits and talks, Mrs. Crawfords secret remains. The next morning the town is buzzing with gossip. The Kane Republican reports about a new crime spree. This time the robberies were of the homes where council members reside. The mayors home was also targeted. The newspaper details an explanation for the robberies. Word processed notes were left at each home. These notes warn of terrible events if Kane Fest doesnt happen. The mayor was stated as saying, These threats are petty; however, they will be taken seriously. The police will be on extra alert as well as each citizen should be. Its a shame it has come to this, but the threats will not bring Kane Fest back. This is turning out to be a very sad summer. Bradley takes a taxi over to the management building. He tells the receptionist who he is and who he needs to see. She tells him to wait in the lobby. After waiting for a little while two men walk over to him and shake hands. After meeting they go to a conference room. Bradley signs numerous papers. Once they are finished, they ask him if he has any questions. Bradley looks at them with anxious eyes and asks, Whom will I be working for? I mean, which client have you chosen for me? He waits for an answer, hoping for Katy Perry. The two businessmen look at each other then to him, Why, we chose someone not so famous anymore for you. Bradleys mind wonders, Can it be Tina Turner, Cher, New Kids On The Block? Finally as if the suspense is killing him, Bradley asks who it is. They give him a name he knows all too well. In fact, he already knows this person and was a big fan. Their answer is Edward BoJangles Crawford.
Ice Box Episode 6.11 No Choices (8/25/2008) Bradley stands with his mouth ajar. He cannot believe his old friend is now his client. The two havent been on best terms after Bradley blackmailed Edward with photos of the two kissing. Eventually they were published in the Kane Republican. Then Bradley realized he couldnt make Edward love him, so he left town and went to college in NYC. His feelings for Edward went dormant and soon found a new love at college. Bradley remembers all of this and begs his bosses to give him a different client. His bosses explain to him they are very busy and there are no exceptions. Take it or leave it, Mr. Fulton. Those are your options. The next day or two go by. Mrs. Crawford waits in the waiting room at the hospital. She already registered and is awaiting a nurse or doctor to arrive to complete more tests. Finally Dr. Sahalie arrives. She takes Mrs. Crawford to her office to explain whats happening. Once there, she explains the options, Mrs. Crawford, we couldnt tell if the mass in your breast is cancerous or not; however, Id like to be one hundred percent sure. What we need to do now or sometime in the very near future is take some x-rays. After we see the size and shape we can discuss a simple surgery to take a sample of the mass. Then if need be we can plan for a more complicated surgery to remove the mass. What would you like to do? Mrs. Crawford listens and ponders what would be best. She refuses to have her children know about this because Edward has been through enough and Jamie has marching band camp and school starting soon. How soon can we take x-rays? she asks. Dr. Sahalie tells her they can get the ball rolling today. She writes down her requests for x-rays and tells her to get them done today. Mrs. Crawford leaves for the x-ray department. With their bank account full, Myles and Irwin explore California. They are on a search for the doctor who preformed Myles plastic surgery before. They look in an outdated phone book attached to a pay phone. Myles rips out the page and the two walk to the address printed on it. On their way to the doctors office Myles complains about the smog. Irwin takes a deep breath in, Smells like home. After a little while the two arrive at the doctors office. They venture in to meet a receptionist. How can I help you? the receptionist asks. Myles steps up to the tall counter and explains that he would like to have an operation. The receptionist explains that there will have to be a few examinations before having the surgery. Myles tells her he has been through this before and knows all the details. He begins to become impatient. She flips through the calendar at her desk. She tells him he wont be able to see the doctor until late October. He tells her he cant wait and needs an appointment as soon as possible. She tells him he has no other options. Elizabeth is working the night shift so she and Edward have decided to go on an early afternoon walk. Elizabeth arrives at the manor and Edward meets her at the door. Both of them feel awkward around each other after the recent events. They make small talk about the weather. A little while later the conversation turns to the topic of Kane Fest. Its a shame they have to cancel the event. Its like the social event of the year, Edward says. Elizabeth recalls last years Kane Fest, Well, things have changed after what happened last year. You wont have to worry about getting arrested this year. Both of them chuckle. Thats the truth. I dont want to spend another night in jail for the rest of my life, Edward tells her. And thats a good thing. You dont want to know what goes on with prisoners in jail, Elizabeth says as she remembers the odd things her professor at college told the class. Id rather not know, but I can imagine, Edward states. The two finish their walk. Edward goes home and Elizabeth gets ready for work. In NYC Bradley tells his bosses he would like to change clients if at all possible. His bosses continue to tell him, he will work with Edward Crawford, or no one at all. He looks at them with sad eyes, Fine, Ill work with him. Is there anything I need to know before I start working? His bosses tell him they will give him more information later and they have work for him to start working on. You need to organize a small rural tour near Kane, Pennsylvania. Make sure Edward has new material. Tell him no more of this marching band crap. I want a report at the end of the month on the progress youve made. You better get busy; the concerts have to start by the end of September. Bradley gathers his papers and hurries out the door. Later that night is a town meeting at the borough building. The topic of discussion is Kane Fest. The room is full as citizens are standing around. The mayor calls the meeting to order. A citizen speaks to the council about options to hold Kane Fest somewhere else. The mayor explains there is no where else. A few citizens shout about a few places like the ballpark on the bottom of Hacker Street. The mayor explains that they have thought about the ball park; however there is no room for parking. After a few more places are suggested and refused a few citizens become frustrated and raise their voices. Elizabeth, who is in her patrol car, hears her radio asking for officers to report to the borough building. The fire alarm is also going off at the fire department. It appears the mayors house has been set on fire.
Ice Box Episode 6.12 Some Choices Are Better Left Unmade (9/11/2008) Elizabeth is on her way to the borough building in her patrol car with lights and sirens going. She finally arrives, Finally some action. She walks in to the room where shouting and verbal abuse is going on. Before she gets between the mayor and a town citizen, she takes a few seconds to listen in. She moves in and tries to separate the two. She gets pushed out of the way, but is able to get between them once more. Knock it off before I arrest you, she warns. The citizen and mayor surround her while continuing their shouting match. The citizen is the first to get violent by throwing a punch. He misses as the mayor deflects the punch. As the mayor deflects the punch he accidentally hits Elizabeth and she falls to the floor. She calls for back up as she removes her handcuffs. Shes done being the nice girl as she tackles the citizen to the floor and handcuffs him. As the citizen is handcuffed she turns the mayor around and handcuffs him. She reads both of them their rights and takes them over to the police station which is next door. In a calmer part of town Edward speaks to his brother as they play video games. Im really sorry about the things that have happened. I feel stupid. We knew something was going to happen, he tells Jamie. Jamie tells him that no one would have expected something to that degree. Lets not dwell on the past anyway. Tomorrow I start band camp! Im so excited, he adds. Edward remembering his past days in the band tells Jamie not to be too excited, I remember when I wanted to be drum major my senior year. When it didnt happen I was crushed. Who is going to be drum major anyway? Jamie tells him no one knows. Do you want to be D.M., Jamie? he asks. Jamie stalls to answer, but Edward draws his answer out. Well, yeah, he says. Well, who knows? Maybe things have changed since I was in band. The two go to bed soon after. The next morning it is busy at the Crawford house. Jamie and Mrs. Crawford are up early. She packs her son a lunch to take to band camp. Jamie takes a shower. While her son is in the shower she makes a phone call to Dr. Sahalies office. She gets information from the doctor that makes her uneasy. She speaks to herself, She wants me to come in to discuss the surgeries. I suppose I can go after I drop off Jamie at band camp. Jamie finishes getting ready and Mrs. Crawford takes him to band camp. On his first day of band camp for the 2008-2009 school year Jamie walks through the high school. He arrives at the music room. The school smells like fresh floor wax and cleaning products. The hallways are freshly painted and the odor fills the hallway. This is his third year with the band. He knows unpack his snare drum and prepare to go outside in the late summer heat. Others are preparing too, by putting on sun screen and filling their water bottles. Jamie sets his drum and harness next to him and sits in the back of the music room with the rest of the percussionists. As more and more band members file into the room and take their seats, the older members know something important will be announced soon. The director walks into the room and then to his office in the back. A hush falls over the band. The question on most of their minds will be who the next drum major is. In California Myles and Irwin wake up at five oclock in the morning because of the time difference. They try to go back to sleep, but cannot. Frustrated they shower and eat breakfast. Im so upset I cant get into the plastic surgeon until October! This is going to be a bad day; Im already cranky! I have to live with this face for another month and a half. Im going to go crazy. Irwin, can you do me a favor? Myles speaks to him. Irwin listens, Can you put me in a coma for the next month and a half? Jamie and a few of his friends hope they will be picked for drum major. One of his friends that also play the drums tells Jamie that hed love to be the leader of the band. He says hes always wanted to be drum major since he joined three years ago. Jamie listens but doesnt say anything, although hed also love to be drum major. Another one of his friends sits in the clarinet section. She looks back at Jamie and lips the words, I hope he picks me. Jamie smiles and nods his head, but inside he is nervous and anxious. He looks at the clock. The minute hand strikes the top of the hour and the director steps out of his office carrying the show music for this year. Once again it gets quiet. The director speaks, Welcome to band camp. Every member who wants to be drum major is smiling except for Jamie who is extremely nervous. The band director speaks about what happens at band camp and he what he expects from each member. Jamies stomach is in knots and he runs to the bathroom. The director looks at Jamie as he leaves the room. While he is gone he continues to discuss band camp. After five minutes and Jamies stomach has calmed, he returns. Beside the director is a band member that is not one of his close friends. He assumes that he was chosen as drum major. He and his friends are upset, but hold back emotion. They carry on with practicing marching and playing their music well into early afternoon. Bradley piles together paperwork and various things. He packs his clothes into suitcases and then travels to the airport. He checks his luggage in and goes through security. Once inside the terminals he reaches for his phone. He looks up Edwards phone number. He dials, but doesnt push send. How is he going to react? If he doesnt agree to all of this, Ill have to find another internship somewhere. Im sure his record label called him. He pry already knows. Ill call, everything will be fine. Edward answers the phone even though he doesnt know the number, Hello? Bradley speaks, Hi, Edward, this is Bradley. Its been a long time, hasnt it? Edward, wondering if Bradley is up to something plays along. Hey Bradley, whats going on? Bradley is relieved hes in good spirits, I have some news for you, unless you already know. What news is that? Edward asks clueless. Oh, well, Im in NYC right now. Im getting on a plane to come home, he stalls. Why would you come home? Edward asks. The answer is you, Bradley answers. What do you mean its because of me? Bradley pauses for a moment, Im sort of your new manager.
Ice Box Episode 6.13 Trying To Do The Right Thing (9/17/2008) What did you just say? asks a puzzled Edward to Bradley. I take it they havent told you yet. I applied for an internship with a record label and they told me who Id have for a client. Next thing I knew, surprise, its you! Bradley explains, I hope youre not mad at me. I didnt plan for this. I would have rather had Katy Perry, but youll have to do. Bradley tries to joke a little to make the situation better. Edward sarcastically comments, I would rather you had Katy Perry too, but I hear shes busy with a girl and her cherry chap stick, my apologies. Edward, Im the one whos sorry. I tried to get another client, but they said no. I tried to do the right thing, Bradley states. Edward feels a little sympathetic towards him, but lets him know he will see what he can do. Bradley tells him he is already on his way home, but to keep him informed. Bradley boards the plane and will arrive in Pittsburgh in the afternoon. Elizabeth goes into work at noon and is surprised to receive word that the chief wants to see her. She knocks on his door and walks in. Elizabeth, have a seat, he says sternly. Elizabeth sits down. You cause more headaches for me than my own children. You arrested the mayor last night. What came over you? he asks her. She stays calm and explains what happened, They mayor came over me, as he hit me and knocked me to the floor. He and another citizen became violent, so I arrested them both. I figured they could talk in jail and calm down after they had time to think about what theyve done. Consider it a time out for two overgrown children. Elizabeth smiles a little; however, the chief is not amused. Elizabeth, Im going to be forced to give you mandatory time off. Ill let you know when you can come back to work. Go home and relax, okay? the chief tells her. I was only trying to do the right thing. This is ridiculous, she says as she storms off. It is now lunch time for members of the band at the high school on their second day of band camp. They all grab their packed lunches and find a place to eat in the hallways. Jamie and a few of his friends eat together. Holly, Veronica, and Oliver join him to eat. They are exhausted, yet they enjoy being at band camp. Holly talks to the group, Its pretty crumby that John got picked for drum major. He doesnt know what hes doing. Veronica nods her head, Like when he said mark time move when he wanted us to mark time mark. Theres a big difference. Holly adds, I know, gosh, what is he thinking. Jamie, who had listened to Edward come home and complain about his drum major decides not to complain. Hey, guys, can we please talk about something else? I know its terrible, but there is nothing we can do about it. John, who was standing inside the music room and able to hear, walks by them and asks where the director is. They say they dont know and John rushes off. Mrs. Crawford is back at the doctors office to discuss her options. The doctor lets her know that with the help of the x-rays they see a fairly large lump in her right breast. Well need to either take a sample piece of this lump or remove it completely. Its up to you, the doctor tells her. I would like to make sure what were dealing with before we attempt to remove the whole mass. However, like I said, its up to you, the doctor continues. Mrs. Crawford tells the doctor to prepare to remove a sample first. When can I plan for the surgery? she asks the doctor. The doctor lets her know they could schedule something tomorrow and that it is a minor surgery. Mrs. Crawford schedules the surgery for tomorrow as soon as Jamie goes to band camp. The doctor warns her that she wont be able to drive herself home so shell need to bring a driver. Mrs. Crawford agrees and then leaves to go home. At nine oclock the Crawford phone rings. Jamie answers and is surprised to hear a familiar voice. It is the band director wanting to ask him a few questions. Hello, Jamie. I needed to ask you a few questions, the director says. Jamie is a little worried, but prepares for whatever comes next. I was wondering; do you like being in the band? Yes, Jamie answers. Okay, well, would you be upset if you didnt play in the band? Jamie becomes angry, Yes, Id be upset. I enjoy band! Im not quitting band! Laughter is heard over the line and the director says, I was wondering if you would be drum major. John stepped down and I need a replacement. Due to recent events for Elizabeth, she calls Edward to go walking. Edward says he should be able to walk. He waits for her to arrive. Ill deal with Bradley later. A walk will do me some good, he says to himself. Soon Elizabeth arrives. They walk and Elizabeth is fuming mad. Can you believe that? she asks him after explaining everything. Edward shakes his head. Thats ridiculous, he says. I know, thats exactly what I told the chief, she says, and then I left. Today has been very odd and full of news, he says. Elizabeth asks him what he means. He replies with the news he received from Bradley. Wow; that is news and odd as well. What were the odds of that happening? she comments. Soon their walk ends and the two go to bed early to sleep off what happened to start a fresh new day.
Ice Box Episode 6.14 News For You (9/28/2008) The next morning the Kane Republican is published with the headlines, Excitement At The Borough Meeting. It details the events that happened the night before. It also states that the police are looking for information about the arson that also happened. The chief has been quoted as saying, The events that happened at the borough meeting and the mayors home being set on fire are unrelated. Right now this is only speculation, but we havent ruled anything out at this point. We are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of this town. Elizabeth reads the newspaper while she stays in bed. She throws the paper to the floor, I bet theyre doing everything they can. Im not there, and if I was we could be doing so much more. Elizabeth spends the rest of the day in bed. Mrs. Crawford sends Jamie to band camp. While driving Jamie tells his mother he received a phone call from the director who wants him to be drum major. Mrs. Crawford is excited to hear the news and pulls him close to give him a hug. The seat belt pushes on her right breast and shoots pain to her brain. She makes a face behind Jamie as she tries to ignore the pain. She focuses on Jamies news and tells him shes so proud. He leaves for his first day as the bands leader. Mrs. Crawford hurries away as she has to make a stop somewhere before going to the hospital. John, the old drum major, is nowhere to be found and Jamie is worried about what the other members will think of him. He sits in the back of the room. Soon Holly Washington, Veronica Potter, and Oliver Diffendale arrive and know nothing about last nights phone call. Jamie calls them over. He wants to know what they think and see how they react. After Jamie tells them the news they are excited. I hope youre better than John, Veronica says. Holly looks around, Have you seen John yet? Band is about to start. The director told me that John stepped down. He didnt tell me he quit. Itll pry be hard for him the first couple days. Maybe we shouldnt be hard on him. Okay guys? Jamie tells them. They all nod their heads and soon its time to start practicing. Mrs. Crawford arrives to a very nice looking house. She rings the door bell and walks in. A voice from down the hallway is heard, Hello? Hey, its your sister. Are you almost ready? Mrs. Crawford says. A woman walks down the hallway trying to put an earring in. Okay, Im ready now, says Mrs. Montgomery, Lets get you to the hospital. Mrs. Crawford smiles, Thank you for doing this. Im so grateful. I would have asked Edward, but I havent told my children about this yet. Mrs. Montgomery enquires as to why she hasnt told them. My children have been so busy and Edwards been through a lot since last year. He doesnt need this, she answers. Mrs. Montgomery nods and then tells her sister she has news of her own, I received a phone call from Myles a few days ago. He wants to come home! I cant wait to have my son home with me again. Mrs. Crawford fakes a smile and says in her head, That boy is trouble. Edward will be thrilled. They arrive to the hospital and Mrs. Crawford is prepped for surgery. Shortly after noon Edward calls Bradley, So lets get this show on the road. Im going to head over to your house. Ill be there in ten minutes. Bradley who is staying at a hotel tells him that he will meet Edward at his house. Edward, who is suspicious about the way Bradley is acting, caves in and lets him have his way. Soon Bradley is at the Kane Manor. Edward lets him in, Im glad youre here. My management team called me early this morning and asked how my new manager and new album were coming along. I said a few choice words and then told them my album was coming along. Anyway, youre stuck with me, Im sorry. Bradley asks him why hes sorry. Im not Katy Perry, Edward answers, We just need to get along and work together. I dont see why we cant put our past behind us. Bradley feels foolish and sorry about their past. He thinks about the day they went swimming at his house at his house and Bradley forcing his lips on Edwards. I think its time to put the past behind us, Bradley smiles and nods. Edward asks him a question, Why couldnt I come over to your house? I need to get out once in a while. Im still stuck in here; cant we go to your house? Bradleys smile goes away. Jamie and the rest of the band are outside on the bands practice field which is the parking lot. The director tells Jamie to have the band practice marching for about a half an hour then to work on playing and marching. The day warms up fast and everyone has beads of sweat on their faces. The band continues to work very hard. After lunch the band is back on the parking lot. When the director feels the band is burnt out from marching in the heat, he tells Jamie to have them grab their water bottles and line up in parade formation. He calls them to attention and marches them up to the school. They plan on practicing their show music inside for the rest of the day. While the band is marching to the school a car pulls up next to the director. It is Johns mother and Johns mother is also in the car. His mother looks furious.
Ice Box Episode 6.15 Left Behind (11/29/2008) The Kane Republican has been published already for the day, but reporters are in the process of getting the next days paper in order. The next article explains that nothing will make the Kane Festival happen this year. The borough council decided to continue with business by dropping the Kane Fest issue. A few council members apologized, but urged the town to move on. A middle aged man in his late 30s sneaks into a bed and breakfast owned by a council member. He makes sure no one is around. It is quiet until he picks up a few expensive looking vases and other items and smashes them on the floor. He escapes unnoticed and casually walks to another council members home. No one is home and he sneaks into the garage. He spay paints graffiti all over the walls. After feeling he has done enough, he returns home. Mrs. Crawford has been in surgery for a little while. Mrs. Montgomery waits in the waiting room. Her cell phone rings suddenly and startles her. Hello? she answers the phone. Youre needed at the office. We had an interview with the mayor, but no ones here to do it, the voice over the phone says. Fine, Ill be there in fifteen minutes, she says. She hangs up her phone. She looks at her watch, it is still early. She stands up, walks over to the admissions desk, and speaks to the person there. I came with my sister. Could you possibly give her a message when she comes out of surgery? She writes her message down and then leaves for the Kane Republican office. Bradley and Edward sit in Edwards living room at the Kane Manor. So, why is it that we couldnt meet at your house? Edward repeats himself. Bradley starts coughing hysterically. Between coughs he asks for some water. Edward leaves and comes back with water. Bradley takes a few sips then changes the subject back to Edwards career. Honestly, how is your album coming? he asks Edward gives him a roll of his eyes, Well, Im not sure. I havent really started it yet. Bradley becomes worried, You know both our careers are on the line here. You need to whip something up and quick. No, really? Edward says sarcastically. You dont have to worry, Ive been thinking about it, he tries to assure Bradley. What have you been thinking? he inquires. Here goes. Halloween is coming up and I think Ill put together some covers of some Halloween songs. What do you think? Bradley is thrilled to hear anything productive come from Edwards mouth. Lets work on this idea some more. We need song lists, tour dates, places, and concert ideas, Bradley says trying to keep Edwards mind preoccupied. Back at the high school, the marching band is inside. Jamie has the band practice their music, while the director speaks with Johns mom outside. Why isnt my son drum major? Johns mother asks the director, I made him stay home today, because I was furious. The director stays calm and explains what happened, John came up to me yesterday and said he would rather plan in instrument. So I told him that it would be no problem. Youll have to take that up with your son. Ill do that, she says and shoots a look to her son. She glances back over to the director, Johns not in trouble is he? Of course not, he tells her. Okay then. Thank you for clearing that up. By the way, do you need some chaperones for the football games? Id love to help out, she offers her help. The director tells her to stop by the music booster meeting and she could speak to someone about that. Mrs. Crawford comes out of surgery just fine. Still a little affected by the anesthesia, she is wheeled to her room for post surgery observation. She asks the nurse to tell her sister where she is. The nurse goes out to the waiting room. No one is there. She goes to the admissions desk. Was there someone here with Mrs. Crawford? she asks the admission personnel. The lady at the admissions desk tells the nurse no ones been in the waiting room for a while. The nurse asks if there is a message for Mrs. Crawford, but the admissions personnel doesnt see one. The nurse leaves. Im sorry Mrs. Crawford, there is no one in the waiting room. Do you know her phone number? You could give her a call, the nurse tells her. At the Kane Manor Edward and Bradley continue their work. Listen, why dont you go home and work on the where and when? I could get some work done on my songs and ideas for the show, Edward talks to Bradley. Bradley tells Edward that it is a good idea. Bradley packs up his notes into a messenger bag then heads to his car. Edward quickly goes out the back door and starts his car. He follows Bradley to his hotel. Now, why do you suppose hes going there? Why not go home? Somethings not right. Ill find out sooner or later, Edward says to himself.
Ice Box Episode 6.16 When September Ends (12/07/08) After Mrs. Crawford called her sister and was picked up at the hospital, she now sits at home on the couch. She mumbles to herself about being left at the hospital. She turns on the television and notices Days of Our Lives is on. She looks at the clock, Crap! Jamie needs picked up. She picks up the phone to call Edward. Edward, its mom. I need you to do me a favor. Could you pick Jamie up from band? Im really sorry. I have a sudden case of the flu or something. Thank you, love you. Edward gets off the phone with his mother and heads to the high school. Jamie is waiting outside. Edward, what are you doing here? Wheres mom? he asks. Moms come down with the flu or something, Edward answers. I hope shes better for the music boosters meeting, Jamie says as he thinks about up coming football games and band competitions. Maybe you should go to the meeting with her. You could sign up to be a chaperone! his voice showing excitement. Oh, I dont know. I suppose Ill go with. Edward caves only because hes thinking about his mother. He drops Jamie off at home, but before he gets out of his car, Edward tells him that hes going on a quick tour and might not be able to chaperone or go to any band competitions. Jamie is shocked by the news, but must get to work on homework. Well talk about this soon, Jamie says then heads inside. Edward takes off for home to work on songs and ideas. A familiar car is driving around town. It makes a stop outside two council members houses then at the mayors. Then it travels down a side road and parks. There is a map of Kane being held by the driver. On the map are squares where the council members and mayor live. There are four squares with an x over them. These are the places where citizens have already vandalized due to the Kane Fest issue. Suddenly a police scanner is heard. Attention Station 5, we need you on standby for Station 10, a fire station call goes through. Copy that. Station 5 on standby, is the reply. Damn, only a fire call. I need some leads, Elizabeth says as she puts the map down on the passenger seat. She continues to listen to the scanner. Nothing of importance is said so she takes a look at the map incase shes missing something. She notices a ray of light reflected off one of her mirrors and is on one of the unmarked squares. Thats not the kind of lead I was hoping for, but thatll do, she says as she starts the car and drives away. After Edward has worked on some ideas for his concert tour coming up, he arrives at his old home where his family lives still. He heads inside to let his mother know hes there. Hey, mom, are you almost ready? he shouts upstairs. His mother is changing her shirt in her bedroom, Yeah, Ill be right down, sweetie. Soon she is downstairs, I just have to grab my coat and well be on our way. Edward who knows when fall comes to Kane the nights get cold, but he knows it is only late summer. Mom, are you sure youll need the coat? Its pretty warm outside still, he tells her. She reminds him what she told him earlier about having the flu, I think I just have the chills then. She smiles a little and the two arrive at the high school soon after. They arrive to the cafeteria where a few other parents and teachers are sitting. Whispering is heard as the members look at Edward. They find seats and the president of the music boosters calls the meeting to order. They cover old business and are ready for new business. The next order of business is the Black Cherry Festival of Bands, the president says, We will need a lot of help and we already have most of the plans done. We are currently looking into something big to draw in a huge crowd. Does anyone have any ideas? There is a silent pause as members look around and shrug. Mrs. Crawford looks at her son then leans close to his ear, What about you? You could do something Im sure. Edward presses his eye brows down and squints his eyes. My son will perform a musical number, a concert, Mrs. Crawford tells the small crowd. Edwards eyes become big as he stares at his mother. The president looks at Edward, You would? Thatd be great! Did you have any plans? Being put on the spot, Edward thinks on his toes. Well, I am going on tour, and I could make this part of the plans. The tour is about Halloween and Im sure itd be a great hit and draw in a crowd. Then do we want to make this a motion? the president asks. The motion is made and then seconded. The president asks for a vote. The idea is passed unanimously. Edward wishes he was at home. Elizabeth sits outside a council members house. The ray of hope Elizabeth is following is just that. She hopes the sign will be what shes looking for to help her prove to the police chief that she is important to have around. She waits in the car and turns down the scanner. It is becoming twilight outside and soon it turns to sundown. Elizabeth wakes up from falling asleep without knowing it. She looks around, I hope nothing happened while I was sleeping. Knowing my luck right now, thats exactly what happened. She glances toward the house and notices a shimmer of light coming from inside. She looks and notices all the other houses still have some form of electricity working whether it be a porch light or lights inside their house. She becomes suspicious and watches the house a little more attentively.
Ice Box Episode 6.17 (80th Episode) All About Getting Results (12/13/2008) The next morning Jamie has left for school already while Mrs. Crawford is asleep in bed. The phone rings suddenly which wakes her. She answers the phone groggy, Hello? The other voice over the phone replies, This is Ann from Dr. Sahalies office. How are you today? Mrs. Crawfords eyes become larger as she becomes aware of who is calling. Im okay, she says. Ann tells her that the results from her biopsy are in and she should come to the hospital as soon as she can to review them. Mrs. Crawford tells her that she will be available to come over in a few hours. Ann schedules her in Dr. Sahalies date book and then ends the phone call. Mrs. Crawford is left in bed next to Shelby, the Crawfords Labrador/Shepard mix. She looks at Shelby and then to the phone. Its going to be one of those exciting days, isnt it? she asks the dog. Shelby just wags her tail and moves closer to Mrs. Crawford. Mrs. Crawford pets her and then makes her way to the shower to get ready for her appointment. Elizabeth who watched a mysterious person leave one of the council members homes last night is working on a plan to catch whoever is behind these terrible acts. She sits in her bedroom with her map of Kane marked with the locations of each members home. A few of the locations are marked with an X. Elizabeth studies the marking closely. There are still only four houses marked with an X. If I had my badge I would have busted the person last night. The chief has made a huge mistake giving me this time off. Id like to see the faces they make when I tell them I have solved the case. There are only a few more houses left. There has to be a pattern, she talks to herself. She marks each house in order of their attack from one to four. At the house last night she writes in pencil a number five. She studies the map a little longer. Oh, a pattern! she exclaims noticing the order of attacks and the location toward the center of town, The attacks are heading outward. She continues her thinking, No, that cant be right. Its too simple. There has to be something else. Once again she looks at the map. After a few minutes she sets it down and goes to the kitchen to get some breakfast. After getting some cereal she stands in the living room where her dad is watching ESPN. She begins talking to her father, Maybe Im not cut out to be a police officer, daddy. She sits next to him. Her father looks at her and reminds her of a time long ago, Remember when you were in first grade and you said, I want to be a super hero when I grow up. Then I told you that you could be anything you wanted to be. After a while you changed your mind; I believe it had something to do with a fear of heights. When you changed your mind you said, Daddy, Im going to be a cop. I told you that you could be anything you wanted to be. Do you still want to be a cop? Yes, she responds. Then be a cop, he says. She smiles at him. They both glance at the television, If the Cincinnati Bengals are seeking retribution for his hit that broke linebacker Keith Rivers' jaw last month, Hines Ward said they know Suddenly Elizabeth stands up and is about to spill her cereal. She runs halfway up the steps when her father asks her where shes going. She looks at him and says, Im going to be a cop, dad. She runs upstairs and her father looks at the television, Thats my girl. It is now mid-afternoon and school has just let out. Jamie arrives home and drops his book bag off at the house. He tells his mother who is back from her visit to the doctor that hes going up to see Edward. When Jamie arrives at the Kane Manor he notices another car parked out front that he doesnt know. He walks inside to see Edward with a stranger. Hey Jamie, this is Bradley, Bradley, Jamie, Edward says as he introduces them to each other. The two shake hands and Edward asks Bradley if hed let him talk to his brother for a few minutes. Bradley nods and says that he has some phone calls to take care of. While Bradley is in the other room, Jamie and Edward go to the kitchen. Do you want a snack? Edward asks his brother. No, Im fine. Listen, about this tour, tell me whats going on, Jamie cuts to the quick. Edward tells him that his record company is forcing him to tour and come out with a new album. And I cant have any songs dealing with band, Edward finishes his explanation. So this is serious. Have you ever written a song not dealing about marching band? he seriously asks his brother. Edward rolls his eyes at Jamie and leans against the counter, They gave me such a short time span to write some songs, they are expecting me and Bradley to fall on our faces. Part of me thinks they dont want me anymore. Were trying everything we can to make it work. Im going to do a Halloween type theme, I think. I might throw in some other holiday songs, but nothings for sure as of yet. He continues to explain that the tour starts tomorrow and he has to leave early in the morning. He asks him to take care of their mother while hes gone. They hug and Jamie leaves the two to do their work. Bradley in the other room is on his cell phone. He pauses when he notices Jamie leave and Edward coming back. This time he excuses himself and walks to the kitchen leaving Edward in the living room, Listen, you cant come see me. Why? Well, just because. Now is not a very good time. Besides I wont be here for a while after tomorrow. I have to tell you everything? Fine, Ill be in Philadelphia tomorrow. I have a lot of work to get done. Well talk later, okay? Bye. Bradley returns to Edward, Big day tomorrow, huh?
Ice Box Episode 6.18 Destination: Brotherly Love (12/20/2008) Elizabeth, after hearing the name Hines Ward and running upstairs, had an idea. She takes the map of Kane and divides off the four wards in Kane. She notices something, a new pattern. She puts a number next to each house that was attacked in the order from one to five. There is a circular pattern with the crimes. Each ward has two members on the council. Over half of them have been a victim thus far. She studies the map for a few more minutes and pin points the next house to become attacked. She thinks about what to do next. Ok, I have the next house on the chopping block. What do I do now? I could tell the chief, but he gave me some time off. If I tell him he could become upset and not want me involved with anything. I cant go to the mayor; because I arrested him and he pry doesnt like me that much anymore. Oh, who cares, Ill go over to the station and explain what I found out. If they dont listen, thats their fault. Elizabeth drives over to the station and explains her case. The chief is cooperative. He listens to her explain her theory. The chief is at his wits end and is under pressure from the town council to stop these crimes. Ill put an undercover police unit outside this house. I hope youre right about all this. The next council meeting is coming up soon. Hopefully, we can catch them. Ill keep you informed about the situation. Thank you, Elizabeth. He walks back into his office and Elizabeth is excited to hear what the police chief had to say. She returns home and hopes to hear from the chief soon. Edward and Bradley are continuing their planning. The dates are one right after the other in time to perform the concerts before the Halloween season. It consists of playing in three major Pennsylvania cities, two smaller New York cities close to the border, and then a home-stretch leg of the tour consisting of towns surrounding Kane. The first stop is in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. Edward packs quickly and then loads the car to arrive at the Bradford regional airport later in the night. Bradley has already packed his luggage into the car and waits for Edward. Finally they are packed up and ready to go. Edward already talked to his mother about leaving town for a little while and asks her to watch the Kane Manor while hes gone. Ok, I think Im ready. Ive already talked to my mom and Im all set. What about you? he asks his manager. Well, I guess Im ready. I havent eaten anything recently, would you mind if we grabbed something to eat at the airport? Bradley asks Edward. Im starving. I think dinner will be a swell idea, Edward answers. Mrs. Crawford is spending a quiet evening at home alone with the exception of the family pet dog, Shelby. She did not go to her appointment with Dr. Sahalie earlier this morning. She fears the worst and would not want to burden her family. She watches Wheel of Fortune, one of her favorite shows. The phone rings when they get to the bonus round. Mrs. Crawford pauses a moment then answers the puzzle before the contestant. The phone rings once more. The contestant doesnt answer the puzzle before the buzzer goes off. Where do they find such dumb people to be on these shows? she talks to the television while the phone is still ringing. Hello? she finally answers it, Yes, I did miss my appointment. Im terribly sorry. Can we reschedule? she asks the doctor hoping to stall and give her more time before she gets the worst news of her life. Dr. Sahalie says, Its a shame you couldnt hear the news in person. What Im about to tell you may affect your life. Well, any news coming from a doctor will affect your life. Mrs. Crawford becomes worried. Dr. Sahalie continues, Lets get to the point; the reason I wanted you to come in today was for the fact that we have some news for you. Your lump is benign. Its best to remove it anyway, but thats completely up to you. Are you okay? Mrs. Crawford takes a few seconds to breathe and be thankful of the good news. Thats good that it is benign. Whenever you are available I can make the surgery, she tells the doctor. How is Monday? I can see you at 9AM Monday morning, Dr. Sahalie makes a date for the surgery and tries to reassure her that everything will be fine. Mrs. Crawford hangs up the telephone and continues watching the television, College students on Jeopardy, come on Shelby, lets show these young ones that weve still got it! Elizabeth took a nap and missed a phone call from Edward. He left a voicemail on her cell phone, Hey Elizabeth, this is Edward. I am going on tour and will be gone for a week or so. I know you dont have to go into work so I thought youd like to come with me. Consider it a little vacation. Im leaving this evening so give me a call back whenever you can. Elizabeth listens to the voicemail and hurries to pack a few things before getting into her car. She calls Edward at the airport and tells him she wants to go. Edward tells her that his flight leaves in less than an hour so she needs to hurry. Driving at a quick pace she passes the high school. There is a football game at the high school stadium. It is half time and the visiting band has just concluded their show. It is now time for Kanes marching band to take the field. Jamie calls the band to attention and they march on to the field. They complete their first number and begin their second. During their second song the band freezes not remembering their moves or music. Jamie is terrified and disappointed.
Ice Box Episode 6.19 Puttin On The Ritz (1/2/2009) Bradley, Elizabeth, and Edward arrive in Philadelphia after an hour flight. They pick up their luggage and proceed to the hotel. They sleep to prepare for a busy day. Edward is the first to wake up in the morning and he showers. He is excited that Elizabeth joined them. After he is dressed and ready for the big day, he becomes anxious. He goes for a short walk around the city to try and calm his nerves. Feeling refreshed he heads back to the hotel to find everyone is ready and wondering where he was. I went for a quick walk to try and calm my nerves, he tells them. Bradley gets a phone call from the management team in New York City. They ask him what progress hes made. He explains that the tour kicks off tonight at the King of Prussia Mall. Edward becomes nervous again after hearing Bradley talk about it. He goes to the bathroom to get away from the talk. Bradley continues to discuss the events. Elizabeths cell phone rings and she takes the call outside the room. Hello Elizabeth. This is the chief. I have some good news for you today. Last night we caught the vandals responsible for the chaos around town. We couldnt have done it without your help. The mayor and I want you back on the force whenever youre ready, the police chief says. Elizabeth, who is shocked by the gratitude of the chief, extends her recognition by accepting her position back, I would love to be back! Thank you. The chief continues their discussion, Would you be able to come in so we can talk about this in person. I have more information for you and you should be here in person. Elizabeth looks around the hallway and reluctantly tells the chief she is out of town, I will be back in town in a few days. Can the news wait until then? The chief tells her he can wait for a day or two, but they will need to talk soon. Elizabeth hangs up the phone and returns into the room. Edward is just coming out of the bathroom and notices Elizabeth entering the room. Where did you go? Edward asks her. Jamie, like his brother, is also out of town. He is on a school bus heading for Bradford for the Sounds of Autumn marching band competition. He fears the worst after last nights performance. He is quiet on the bus as Holly Washington, Veronica Potter, and Oliver Diffendale carry on conversations with each other. They are all excited and try to enjoy themselves. Oliver is sharing a seat with Jamie and Holly and Veronica share a seat in front of them. Holly turns around to offer Jamie some Orbit gum. Jamie declines the generous offer as he stares out of the bus window. Whats wrong Jamie? she asks him. Jamie shrugs, Oh, come on. Whats going on? Youre acting all emo. Veronica looks at Jamie and pipes in, Yeah, normally youre all happy and fun on these trips. Today youre depressing. Oliver looks at Jamie and agrees with a nod of his head. Jamie finally tells his friends what hes feeling, Guys, Im worried about tonight. We have to do better than last night. If we go to this competition and forget the music or moves, we can expect last place. I dont want last place, do you? His friends all shake their heads from side to side. What can we do about it now? Were on the bus, Veronica asks. Jamie calms the bus down. Listen everyone, after last nights performance Im a little let down. We have to practice harder and be the best we can be! I dont know about you, but I feel we have to be like the cheerleaders from Bring It On; when were down we have to pick ourselves back up. Use every spare moment to practice and take the Kane standard up a few notches. Show them we can do it and do it the best we can. Lets show them our spirit fingers and show the other bands we are proud. The members on the bus just stare at him until Holly lifts up her hands and moves her fingers around and screams. Everyone does the same. Once the bus quiets down he instructs the band members to get out their music and the color guard to grab a pencil. Were going to go over our show. Ill count the moves, you sing your part. Color guard, the pencils are your flags. Everyone ready? 1, 2, ready, play! Jamie has the band practicing hoping for a great performance tonight. Mrs. Crawford awaits her surgery sitting at home while Jamie is at the band competition and Edward is off on tour. She grabs the phone after looking at the clock. Jamie, how did it go? she asks him about the competition. We got fifth, which is second to last, he explains. Im sorry sweetie. You guys practice so hard and are so great. You deserve better, she tries to make him feel better. He replies, Well, at least we didnt get last. Well do better next time Im sure. Mom, Im on the bus right now and we might loose service soon, would you mind if I spend the night over at Olivers? She gives him the okay, Thats fine; Ill see you tomorrow afternoon then? I love you, Jamie. Jamie answers his mother then hangs up the phone. Mrs. Crawford then calls her other son, Edward after his concert. Edward answers his phone and is glad to hear from his mother, Hey, how are you doing? His mother explains that shes doing fine and is spending a quiet evening with the dog and that his brother isnt doing as well, Jamie got second to last in Bradford tonight. Hes down. Shoot, that stinks. Ill make sure to try and cheer him up when I get home, he tells her. How did you do tonight? she asks him. A little better than second to last, I think. Lets just say that, he answers. Well, I just called to see how you were doing and to say I love you, Edward finds this odd and tells his mother that he loves her too. Mrs. Crawford hangs up the phone and looks at the dog, I told my boys I love them, should I work on the will now? Edward sits in the hotel with Elizabeth and Bradley. Edward looks down as Elizabeth notices and suggests going to watch a movie. Edward knows hes feeling down and doesnt want to ruin the time with his friends says thats a good idea. Bradley looks online for a movie theater and listing of movies. Hey, The Dark Knight is playing. I really want to see it, Bradley says. Sure, lets go! Edward tries to perk up. They grab their coats and arrive inside the theater. The movie begins as Elizabeth, Edward, and Bradley take their seats with popcorn and soda pop. During one part of the movie a loud bang from a body hitting the window of a skyscraper causes Bradley to jolt. He and Edward look down at the arm rest to find Bradleys hand is clenching Edwards hand below. Bradley removes his hand and apologizes quietly. Edward continues to watch the movie, as Bradleys mind focuses on holding Edwards hand.
Ice Box Episode 6.20 Down, But Not Out (1/2/2009) Mrs. Crawford wakes up early to shower and prepare for a trip to the hospital. Her sister, Mrs. Montgomery, arrives shortly after she is ready to take her to the hospital. Are you ready? Mrs. Montgomery asks Mrs. Crawford. As ready as I can be, I suppose, is the response. Good, lets get this show on the road, Mrs. Montgomery says with a smile. They arrive at the hospital and soon Mrs. Crawford is prepped and ready for surgery to remove her benign lump. Mrs. Montgomery sees her once more before she is taken away into the operating room. If anything happens to me while Im in there, apologize to my boys for not telling them about this and let them know I will be watching over them, Mrs. Crawford tells her sister. Mrs. Montgomery nods and smiles a little, Nothing is going to happen to you; youll be just fine, Im sure of it. Mrs. Crawford squeezes her sisters hand and then is wheeled off. Mrs. Montgomerys cell phone rings in her purse, So help me if its work calling, Im not leaving my sister again. She looks at the caller ID and notices its her son. She quickly answers, Myles! My goodness, I havent heard from you in a while. Myles, who still looks like Edward, sits in a waiting room and is happy to hear her voice, Its good to finally get a chance to talk to you. Ive been so busy getting things ready for my trip home. I cant wait. Mrs. Montgomery becomes anxious, When are you coming home? Well mom, I have a few things to take care of and then Ill be home probably in the next week or two, if all goes well, he tells her. A man walks over to Myles, Mom, I have to go, but Ill give you another call soon. They two hang up and Myles looks up at the doctor who will perform his plastic surgery. After Mrs. Montgomery hangs up the phone she thinks about how wonderful it was to hear from her son. I know my sister is going to hate me for this, but Im going to do it anyway, she says as she opens her cell phone to call Jamie Crawford. Bradley, Elizabeth, and Edward are sitting in their hotel room packing their belongings. Their flight to Pittsburgh leaves in a few hours. In a taxi cab to the airport Elizabeth receives a phone call from the chief, Elizabeth, are you back in town yet? Elizabeth has been thinking about leaving the tour early in order to go home and see whats going on. Instead, she feels bad about leaving Edward and has decided to stay for the time being. No, Im still out of town. Whats going on? she tries to get the police chief to tell her his big news. Well, it is important that you come home as soon as possible. The mayor wants to talk to you about something important. When can we expect you? he tries to avoid giving specific details. Just tell me what this is about and Ill see what I can do, she tells him. Fine, the mayor is resigning and has appointed me to replace him. We need a police officer to replace me. I thought about you and the mayor wants to talk to you about it, he explains. Oh, wow. Honestly, are you sure? a shocked Elizabeth is watched by Edward and Bradley, Perhaps later this evening. She finishes the conversation and hangs up her cell phone. Edward and Bradley dont say anything to her, but both of them are pondering what the phone call was about. They arrive at the airport and Elizabeth explains to Edward what has happened. Edward is happy for her and tells her to take a flight to Bradford and drive home. She insists that she stay for the concert at the Monroeville Mall. The three board the plane to Pittsburgh. After receiving a phone call from his aunt, Jamie hurries to the hospital in order to see his mother. He calls Edward who has landed safely in Pittsburgh and awaiting his luggage. Did you know mom was in the hospital to remove a benign lump in her breast and not tell me? he asks his brother harshly. Edward knows nothing about this and replies, What are you talking about? I didnt know anything about this. Is she okay? he asks. Jamie becomes frantic because no one seems to know a lot about his mothers condition and fears the worst, What if something happens to her? Edward tries to calm down his brother, Listen, nothings going to happen to her. Shell be fine. You need to relax and go see her. Ill be home in a few days. Tell her I love her. Jamie finally arrives at the hospital angry at his mother for not telling him about what has been going on. In Pittsburgh Elizabeth takes a flight to Bradford after Edward makes her leave. Edward is performing on stage in the Monroeville Mall when Bradley receives a phone call. Hello, how are you? Bradley asks the voice. Ive been better; Ive decided I have a surprise for you when you get back to Kane, the male voice says. Tell me youre not there waiting for me, Bradley says. Youll just have to wait and see, wont you, the other voice tells him. Im busy, so it might be a while until Im back in Kane. Youll have to chill out until then, he tells the voice. The voice replies sarcastically, Its starting to get cold up here anyway, so I have no choice than to chill out. Ill be waiting for you. Goodbye. Bradley hangs up the phone and watches Edward. He thinks about squeezing Edwards hand last night and then he puts his hand over his cheek, I have to stop this. I only have a professional relationship with him and nothing more. Besides, I have things at home to deal with now.
Ice Box Episode 6.21 Recovery (1/16/2009) Jamie arrives at the Kane Community Hospital. He finds his mothers room; however, shes not in there. Mrs. Montgomery is walking down the hallway back to her sisters room when she spots Jamie peaking out of the door looking for his mother. Jamie, she calls to him. He turns his body to see her and then walks out of the room into the hallway. He doesnt say anything to her. Lets go sit down and talk about this, she says. She follows Jamie into the room. He leans against the hospital bed instead of sitting down. Mrs. Montgomery notices he is upset and eases into the topic of conversation, Let me tell you what I know, before you ask any questions, okay? Jamie nods his head. Okay, your mother about two months ago felt sharp pains coming from her breast. She came to the hospital to get it looked at. They needed to perform a biopsy to determine if the lump they found was benign or not. In order to perform a biopsy they needed to knock her out. I had to drive her to and from the hospital. Youre probably thinking, Well, why couldnt I take her. She has her reasons for that. She told me that she didnt want you or your brother to worry about her, or become a burden. Anyway, the lump they found was benign, thank goodness. Shes still in surgery to remove the lump. Thats all I know. Jamie feels different emotions from being angry, sad, and relieved all at the same time. When will she be out of surgery? he asks. Mrs. Montgomery shrugs. Edward and Bradley over the past few days have finished the major cities part of the tour. After the show at the Millcreek Mall in Erie there is some downtime. The two return to their hotel room and sit on their beds. This has been one hell of a time. Im glad we have a few hours to ourselves before we have to pack up and go on, Edward says. Bradley agrees, Its almost over. What do you want to do to pass the time? Edward thinks, We could go swimming in the indoor pool they have here. Bradleys mind wanders to the time he blackmailed Edward into loving him. He thinks about them swimming in the pool at his house, and forcing a kiss between Edward and himself. Im not in the mood to go swimming. What else can we do? he says. Edward thinks about watching a movie, but thinks about what happened during the movie in Philadelphia when Bradley squeezed his hand. The two sit in silence. How about we pack up and get ready for our next show. That way we can have more time when we get to Jamestown to do something else, Bradley suggests. Edward agrees. As Bradley gathers his things, his cell phone rings. The management team in New York is calling, Mr. Fulton, how are you doing today? Fine, Bradley answers, Why do I have the pleasure of a phone call? The management team bares some bad news, Well, lets just say were unhappy with the tour. The rest of the tour has been cancelled. We can talk in detail about this later, but I just wanted to break the news to you first. Have a good day, Mr. Fulton. Bradley hangs up his phone and Edward notices the blank face hes wearing, Whats wrong? Another cell phone rings, this time in the hospital room assigned to Mrs. Crawford. Mrs. Montgomery answers her phone, Hello, Myles! How are you? Mom, are you sitting down? I have something important to tell you, he talks to her as his face is all bandaged up from the plastic surgery to get his old face back. His mother speaks to him with worry in her voice, Myles, whats wrong? Myles sighs and then continues his story, Just a few hours ago I was attacked by robbers. They took my credit cards and money, but left everything else. I called the card companies and everything except my face is fine. Im terribly bruised and bandaged. At least Im still coming home. Mrs. Montgomery is angry at the fact that he is in California, These things dont happen here in Pennsylvania. You would have been safe if you would have stayed! You get your butt back here mister, and I mean it! I will mom. Ill be on my way home soon, he tells her. Bradley looks at Edward unable to find the right words to tell him the tour has been cancelled. Edward becomes worried and repeats himself, Whats wrong? Bradley, unsure of how to sugar-coat the news, tells him the best he can. You might want to sit down, he tells him. Oh goodness, its always bad news when you tell someone to sit down before you tell them, Edward comments. That was the label on the phone, Bradley explains, I dont have any details as of right now, but Ill make sure to get them soon. The tour, he pauses, has been cancelled. Edward looks at Bradley with his eyes squinted as disbelief comes across his face. What? he asks. The tour, its cancelled. They said they were unhappy with it. Thats all they told me. Im sorry, Bradley says. Edward looks around the room, stands up, and finishes packing. What should we do now? Bradley asks. Between putting things into his suitcase he looks at Bradley and says, Go home.
Ice Box Episode 6.22 85th Episode No Place Like Home (1/23/2009) Elizabeth arrives at the police station, happy as a lark. Nothing can ruin her day as her attitude is in high spirits, than it has been in weeks. The chief wanted to see me. Is he in his office? she inquires. Yeah, hes in there with the mayor. Theyre expecting you, the officer at the desk replies. She walks over to the door, knocks, and walks in. Ah, Elizabeth, good to see you, says the chief. The mayor turns around, Hello, he says. Elizabeth, remembers arresting the mayor last month, says Hello. Have a seat, Elizabeth. We need to discuss whats going to be happening in the new year, the chief tells her. He continues, The mayor has decided to resign, and has chosen me to fulfill the rest of his term. This would leave the police department without a chief. Therefore, were asking if you would like to head the police department. Weve seen what a great resource you are to the department, and we dont want to loose you, the mayor adds. I figured if I leave and you become the new chief of police, I wouldnt have to see you everyday giving me headaches and such, the chief says humorously. Elizabeth smiles a little. So whats it going to be? Would you like the position? the mayor asks. Surprised by what is happening so quickly, she pauses for a moment to collect her thoughts. I would love to, she says. Great! Well provide you with more information and the necessary paperwork later. No need to overwhelm you today, the mayor says. Elizabeth stands up and says, Thank you. She leaves the department feeling happy about the job promotion. Wait until everyone hears the news, she says to herself in her car driving back home. Bradley is driving a rental car down the interstate with Edward on the passenger side. It is quiet; no one says a word. Edward looks out of the window as a rest stop sign passes them. Bradleys phone rings and he notices it is the management team calling again. He tells Edward who is calling and Edward tells him to pull over at the rest stop. Bradley answers the phone before arriving at the rest stop. Good afternoon, Mr. Fulton. I just had enough time to give you a call before my next appointment. I hope this is a good time, his boss says. As good as ever, I suppose, Bradley says. Edward puts his palm to his forehead and as soon as Bradley puts the car in park, he heads into the restroom area. Edward keeps his emotions in check by taking a few deep breaths and running his fingers through his hair. He paces inside the restroom. A trucker walks in the doorway and notices Edward pacing, Um, mister, are you okay? Edward puts his hands down from his head, Im fine, he says as he leaves the restroom area to find somewhere to be alone. He finds some comfort food from a vending machine and paces outside the building. He watches Bradley talk in the car. Do I really want to know what theyre discussing? he thinks as he continues to pace back and forth. He squats on the sidewalk next to the building to relax, They were the ones that wanted a tour, and we gave them one. Now they change their minds. For the love of, he pauses, notices a family across the way, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! Im so angry. He lets out a small grunt under his breath and looks to see if Bradley is done talking on the phone. Bradley waves him back to the car and Edward hops in. Another silent pair of individuals is sitting in Mrs. Crawfords hospital room. Jamie is looking at the floor as Mrs. Montgomery looks at him. It has been an hour or two since either of them have spoke. Mrs. Montgomery looks at her watch, Listen, I have to go and since youre here, would you mind taking your mom home? Unless youd rather I stay, it doesnt matter. Jamie raises his head, Its okay. You can go. She gets her purse and coat, Tell your mother Ill see her later. I will, Jamie says. He watches his aunt leave. After a half an hour later, Mrs. Crawford is wheeled into her room. Are you family? a nurse asks Jamie. Yes, Im her son, is the reply. A doctor will be here shortly to speak with you, he is told by the nurse as she writes down Mrs. Crawfords vitals onto a metal clipboard. Dr. Sahalie arrives and Jamie walks outside the room to speak with her. We removed a benign lump in her right breast. Shell feel a bit sore over the next few days. Make sure she doesnt do any strenuous activities for a week or two. Here is a prescription for the pain. Im sure shell make a fast recovery. She has my phone number in case anyone has any questions. Ill check back with her in a few hours to see how shes doing. She may sleep for a little longer since the anesthesia hasnt worn off yet, Dr. Sahalie explains. Jamie listens and then asks a question, When will she be able to go home? Dr. Sahalie tells him that she will stop by in two hours and they can talk about taking her home at that time. Jamie goes back into the room and takes a seat. He looks at his mother, She looks so peaceful right now, he whispers. Im not dead yet, comes a groggy voice. Irwin closes a trunk of a taxi after removing two large suitcases. He wheels them inside an airport and waits in line to get two tickets for Bradford, Pennsylvania with a connecting flight in Pittsburgh. Irwin gets the next available receptionist and gets the tickets. He lets the receptionist take their bags after he creates labels for them. He glances back at Myles. Sitting down near the ticket line is a bandaged Myles. He waits while Irwin takes care of tickets and the luggage. A family with a little girl is sitting on the opposite side, facing away from Myles. The little girl, who is around five years old, notices Myles and becomes curious. She walks around the seats to get a better view. Myles notices her through his peripheral vision, but he doesnt move. The little girl stops moving closer as she becomes a little frightened of this strange looking person. Myles turns his head slowly to face her, leans toward her, and says, Boo. The little girl screams and runs back to her family. The familys flight has just been called and her parents dont pay attention to her as they drag her with them to catch their flight. Irwin arrives back to Myles, You have a unique way with children. Youll make a great father one day. The two look back at the little girl as she is staring back at them with tears in her eyes. She wipes her nose and doesnt take her eyes off of Myles until she is out of sight. So, are we all ready for Pennsylvania once again? Myles asks Irwin. Actually, we are. We better get going; our flight leaves within the hour, is the answer. Myles smiles under his bandages, Owe! Irwin, unaware of what happened asks Myles why hes in pain. Im in pain because I smiled. Dont make me smile for the next few days, Im sore, Myles explains. Well be in Kane before nightfall, Irwin comments. Myles refuses to smile and celebrates by punching Irwin in the arm, I told you not to make me smile. I cant wait to make Edwards life hell once again. He punches Irwin again because the thought of hurting Edward would make him so happy. Bradley and Edward are just entering Kane. So, thats why they cancelled the tour. Dont be upset at me, Im just the messenger. Ill get everything sorted out and well be on the top of our game, Bradley says as he finishes the explanation of the tour getting cancelled. Well, Im glad I have a reason now. I took it personally and felt like this is my entire fault. I still feel like it is, but I feel better now. Thank you for explaining everything, Edward tells him as they pull into the driveway of the Kane Manor. Edward gets out of the car and grabs his suitcase from the trunk. Before he closes his door he leans over to tell Bradley that he is a good manager and thanks him for a job well done. He reaches out to shake Bradleys hand. Bradley shakes his hand and then says hell call him tomorrow. Edward waves goodbye and heads into the Kane Manor as Bradley drives to his motel room. Once he arrives at his motel he notices a young man wearing a baseball cap leaning against the building. His head lowered. Bradley grabs his suitcase and heads towards his room. The young man doesnt look up, but speaks, Youre not even going to say hello, Bradley. Meanwhile at the hospital, Dr. Sahalie is ready to check-up on Mrs. Crawford. Jamie has fallen asleep in his chair. Mrs. Crawford is sitting up eating crumby hospital food. Dr. Sahalie knocks on her door. Come in, she whispers. Dr. Sahalie notices Jamie and whispers to Mrs. Crawford, I just want to check your vitals and see how you were doing. Im fine, except for a little discomfort around my breasts, she explains. Jamie stirs awake, Its about time. Was I asleep? I was tired of her talking nonsense. I take it the drugs wore off. Dr. Sahalie chuckles to herself, but continues looking over Mrs. Crawford. Listening to you snore was just as bad. Talking nonsense can be funny; how can anyone find anything funny about snoring? So, how am I looking? Mrs. Crawford asks the doctor. Well, I can tell the anesthesia wore off and youre doing okay by medical standards. I told your son some things for you, such as, dont do anything strenuous for a week or two. Ill let you get dressed; youre fine to go home. See, I told you it was a simple procedure, the doctor replies. Edward is home alone inside the Kane Manor. His suitcase remains by the door unopened. He walks downstairs to his studio in the basement. He stares at the equipment and the various sheet music lying around. He collects the music and puts it in a folder. He calmly walks out to a burning barrel in the back of the estate. He sets the music down on the ground and finds some dry leaves. He puts them inside the barrel, along with some small twigs. He pulls a Zippo lighter from his pocket. He puts the lighter on top of the music so the folder doesnt blow open. He goes inside and comes back quickly. He pours a little bit of lighter fluid on the leaves and twigs. Then, he sets the lighter fluid down on the ground away from the barrel. He picks up the sheet music and flips through it slowly. He pulls out one of the songs from the tour and sets the rest behind him. He takes the lighter and flicks it. He lights the sheet music on fire. It burns a little before he throws it into the barrel and starts the leaves and twigs on fire. It becomes a small fire when he hears a voice behind him, Who needs pride or self respect?
