Ice Box Episode 1: Continuing Drama Edward BoJangles, a successful entertainer who sings about his past days in the high school marching band, has had a lot of dramatic experiences in the past few years coming back home. He has seen his ups and downs. Friends have been by his side and friends have betrayed him. Some have even gone to extreme lengths just so he would love them. Fame is such a fickle thing, Edward once found himself fading away from the lime light, which is what he wanted, for the time being. Now hes seeing he cant live without it. Being a celebrity across the nation is what he wants; however, he doesnt see how much of a celebrity he can be to one small town in Pennsylvania. Edward is at home, writing down lyrics to his third album. His second album did not so well in the terms of success, but his small town seemed to love his work. They invited him to once again perform at Kane Fest, the small town fair. Edward is pressured to finish these songs in time for the fair in July. He only has a few months to finish and be able to put on a better show than two years previous. At his last concert for the town he shocked them with the news he was going to Clarion University; however, his plans have fallen through. He has put his long life dreams of becoming a teacher to pursue an entertaining job professing his love about music. His friends have gone to college and are graduated. Elizabeth has graduated from Mansfield University with a degree in criminal justice. She has come back from college and is interested in joining the Kane Area Police Department. She and Edward have not taken a walk in almost two years. Edward has focused so much of his time to his career it has kept him busy, like wise Elizabeth has become very busy with her schooling and career. Belle, a young mother, has graduated from beauty school and now works with health services providing care for families who have children with special needs, and also maintains her own beauty shop at home on the weekends. Kate has given up on her dreams of becoming a teacher as well; she dropped out of college and now focuses on being a missionary across the area speaking at local churches. Bradley, who had a crush on Edward has given up on making Edward love him and has turned over a new leaf. Bradley has just completed his third year of school to study international business. This fall he plans to go overseas to get an internship. Thomas and Victoria have broken up for the time being since Victoria found out Thomas had cheated on her while being away at school before Victoria could go to college with him. This was after a brief engagement and Victoria is still upset with Thomas. Many of his other friends have had their fair share of drama without Edward in their lives. Most of them have moved on and never see him again. As Edward continues to write down lyrics for his new album, he recalls a time when his friends were around. All the memories, new faces, new fans hes had over the years, nothing compares to his old friends and memories from band. He has a plan to get everyone back together and let him know hes still there for them. He begins to come up with an idea to do just that. He wants the good old days to come back and have fun. He sends out a bulk e-mail to all of his friends. The e-mail reads, Dear Friends, It has come to my attention that it has been a very long time since we have seen each other. To be honest, it has been far too long. I miss the memories of the times we all had fun and hope we can create many more memories in the years to come, by starting as soon as possible with a party in honor of you. To all my friends, you are hereby invited to a party at my home, the old Kane Manor, this Saturday at 6 oclock. A feast in your honor will be had and you are all eagerly invited! Feel free to bring as many friends as possible. Saturday will be a time for friendships, new and old. See you then. Edward. Edward awaits the big night, hoping everyone will attend. He decides to go shopping looking for new clothes to wear to the occasion. Edward cannot wait, he and the rest of the town are in for a big night!
Ice Box Episode 2: Upcoming Events Saturday comes and Edward is busy making sure the food is prepared, party favors are arranged, and the guest list is post with instructions to allow anyone in who has an invitation or with someone with an invitation. The Kane Manor has been decorated to host a grand event. Edward looks around and is becoming excited. He feels like he needs his friends around this very second to share in his excitement. He decides he needs to drive around town to calm his nerves. He gets into his car and drives to the main street in Kane. While on his drive he sees a familiar car. It is a Crown Victoria sitting in the Quality, the only grocery store, parking lot. It is Elizabeths parents car. He stops to go in and visit hoping Elizabeth is there. He walks through the store without a sign of her. He walks up to her mother who is working in the office. He waves to her and she comes down to talk with him. Is Elizabeth here by any chance? Edward asks her. Edward is disappointed to hear that she is back at home. He then asks her if she got the invitation to the party Edward is having tonight. She responds, I dont know if she plans on going. Shes really upset about not finding a job. Thats ridiculous. Shes very intelligent about crime stuff. She should be able to get a job, no problem! he says. Elizabeths mom shrugs and is called back into the office. Edward gets back into his car and thinks about driving out to Elizabeths house, but something stops him. He sees Bradley walking towards the store, but he notices Edward and walks over to him. Edward rolls down the window so the two can talk. Bradley, its been a long time since weve talked. How is everything going? Bradley responds that hes found someone else to make him happy, although he still misses Edward. Edward asks Bradley about the party tonight and he answers. He explains that he feels that its best to never see Edward again so he wont be coming to the party. Edward looks upset and asks why Bradley feels this way. Bradley continues to explain that he let Edward go in his heart and he doesnt want to have to continue to fight his feelings or make his present significant other feel awkward or second best. Bradley says his good-byes and Edward drives back home. Once home Edward thinks about canceling the party. It is obvious that this idea of his wasnt such a great idea after all. No one is bothering to show up. Its free food! What more do they want? Its a free party; everythings been taken care of! Maybe I need to think of another plan to get my friends together, or at least see more of them. Edward goes to his bedroom, lies on the bed, and thinks about Elizabeth. He was most excited about seeing her again after not seeing her for over a year. He grabs his cell phone and dials Elizabeths home phone. Someone is on the Internet there and Call-Wav picks up his phone call and tells him to leave a message. Hi, this message is for Elizabeth. I was wondering, um if youd like to go for a walk like we used to back in the day? Give me a call back as soon as you can. Thanks, bye. He hopes she gets the message in time. It is almost 4 p.m. in the afternoon. The party starts in two hours! Elizabeth is sitting at the computer and listens to Edwards message. She looks at the invitation sitting next to her. She picks it up and looks it over. I thought he said the party was to start at six oclock? If he wants to go walking, something must be wrong. A walk would probably do me some good anyway. I need to get out of the house and do something. I better call him back.
Ice Box Episode 3: Turn Out and Torn Up Edwards phone rings and he recognizes the phone number on the caller ID. Elizabeth! he shouts over the phone. Hi, Edward! So you want to go walking? Good, Ill be over in a few minutes, Elizabeth says as she puts on her shoes. Edward is extremely excited and gets his shoes on. He sits and waits anxiously by the door. Edward is tapped on the shoulder by one of the caterers. What do you want us to do? she asks. If at all possible, have the table and dinner ready by six. Ill be back a little after. Make sure my guests have everything they need. I think thats all, Edward responds then pauses to think, Whatever you do, do not let the guests leave. If they become restless, start dinner without me. Edward sees Elizabeth drive up the driveway and he rushes outside to meet her. The two hug and exchange greetings. Both talk about how much they have missed each other and decide to start their walk. During their walk they discuss their present concerns for themselves. Elizabeth is worried about finding a job in the area. She hopes to work at the police department in town. Edward is worried about his future career and seeing his friends again after spending so much time away from them. A lot has changed, hasnt it? Edward asks Elizabeth. Elizabeth nods and comments, Just a few years ago we were concentrating on what time to walk, what to talk about, and finding something entertaining to do. Now we focus on different things, I need a job to pay off my schooling, find someone to settle down with, start a family in the near future. Edward asks her where she wants to settle down and if there are any possible husbands in the future. She answers saying there was this one guy in college she grew close to, but since being home the two have been apart. Edward sighs, Sometimes you have to leave the one you love, or in my case, the one you love leaves you. He remembers Geri and has given up hope on ever dating her. Elizabeth asks about Geri. Shes moved on. She has a child now and is staying over in England. Weve kept in touch by letters. Its rather kind of sad, when you think about it. All I have is my music right now. What I want are my friends, Edward says. The two come back to the Kane Manor, Edwards home. There are a few cars outside parked in the driveway and it is a little after six oclock. Edward and Elizabeth stop by Elizabeths car. Elizabeth reaches for the handle on the door, but Edward stops her. Are you sure you dont want to come in and see everyone? We can hang out some more and catch up with everything. Consider it a friend reunion! Please, Liz, come inside and have dinner. Once dinners over you can leave and I wont bug you to stay, Edward begs. Elizabeths hand slowly moves from the car door to her side. The couple walks inside to see a few of their friends. Elizabeth stays for the entire party having a fun time. Everyone enjoys themselves playing games and see their old friends. The partys turn out wasnt so bad after all. Edward was worrying about the party, but not he has to worry about his live performance in July at Kane Fest. There is also something else that Edward needs to worry about, but he does not know about it yet. Later that evening, a man dressed in all black with gloves on and a metal bar in hand smashes a glass window on the other side of town. There is no alarm and the man opens a lock to a window and climbs in. Moments later the man returns through the window with a jewelry box, a few watches around his wrist, and pockets full of items.
Ice Box Episode 4: Expecting to Suspect The next few days go by. The Kane Republican, the towns daily newspaper, has an interesting front page. Across the top the heading reads, Burglars Rob A Total of Ten Houses. The story continues to explain that the criminals have broken into a total of ten houses in the Kane Area. They target houses without security alarms, dogs, and lights on. The police chief is quoted as saying that these individuals know what they are doing. One instance the intruder robbed a homeowner while they were sleeping. The police suspect that the robbers are linked in some way to their victims; however, any connection has yet to be unsolved. Elizabeth reads the article and carries it to the family car. She drives to the police station and asks to see the chief. The chief comes out and sees Elizabeth. She tells the chief that it looks like they could use her help. The chief, who is looking uninterested with her, says Listen, youve come in here numerous times, I cant hire you. We have a full staff and we cant use up anymore of the taxpayers money to hire a new part time officer. Elizabeth is looking frustrated after listening to the chief. You need to listen, I graduated from the top college for anyone in a criminal justice field. I know everything there needs to be known. Have you even looked at my resume? I promise that if youll hire me, I could bring in the people responsible for these break ins. Obviously you are understaffed. Otherwise, you wouldnt have individuals breaking into other peoples houses and stealing their belongings. I think you need my help! The chief looks her over and pulls out her resume. She has little experience; however, she did graduate with honors in her degree program back in college. The chief decides to let her on the police force temporarily. Before I can hire you, Ill have to speak with the mayor. If he says yes, and if no progress is made in a week or two, well have to let you go. Do you understand? Elizabeth nods her head with a smile. Youll be sorry you hadnt hired me sooner. Elizabeth hurries home to tell her family the news, but no one is home. She notices Edward is on AOL Instant Messenger, but he is away. She leaves him a message saying she has good news to tell him and cant wait to see him. She asks if he wants to go walking later that night. Too excited to stay put, she gets in the car and drives around town. Edward is busy writing more song lyrics and then practicing his songs in his studio he had created in the basement of the Kane Manor. He has only one more month to put together a show for the towns fair, Kane Fest. Edward takes a break and looks at his laptop. He reads the message Elizabeth sent him. He then sends her a message back saying to give him a call later to organize plans. He goes back to practicing. Elizabeth is driving around town looking for clues or suspicious individuals around town. She drives through town by the post office. The post office is the local hang out for juveniles. She spies a few young adults she doesnt know. She continues to drive by. She stops at the Quality Market to tell her mother about maybe getting a job. Her mother is not overly excited as Elizabeth is. Elizabeth leaves her mother and drives back around through town. She gets back up toward the post office when out of nowhere a skateboarder glides across the street. Elizabeth has to slam on the breaks. She looks at him with an evil glare. The skateboarder gives her an inappropriate gesture. Ill fix this town, if its the last thing I do! she says. She drives back home then gives Edward a call. The two go walking around town. Both share their stories of their day, including the news in the Kane Republican. Edward says that he has to install security devices around the grounds of his home. He is also considering getting a night watchman to look over things while Edward sleeps. He feels like he is a future target. Elizabeth recalling what she learned in college says, Well, most criminals will start off small, and move to bigger crimes. You might be one of the next targets. Edward is a little worried now. During their walk they cross paths of two men wearing black hoodies. Their hoods were up and it made their faces dark by the shadows. Edward looks at Elizabeth and the two nod their heads. Obviously those two are up to no good.
Ice Box Episode 5: First Day at Work Edward and Elizabeth return from their walk and then go to sleep soon after preparing for their big day. Elizabeth wakes up and is ready to start the day. She hurries over to the police station to hear about the news. The chief isnt in and she waits outside enjoying the nice sunny morning. She listens to the birds singing their songs in the trees. Edward wakes up and dreads the day. It is dark in his room and he hopes today will turn out well for him. He has scheduled a practice session in his recording studio all day. He has only planned to eat dinner if he can practice enough to feel like he doesnt need to do so anymore. Depending on how good I sound, I may be able to fit in dinner, he says as he looks at his planner. Well, better get ready. Ive got a long day ahead of myself. He gets cleaned up and then heads down to his basement to start practicing. He begins to sing one of his songs. Elizabeth, back at the police station, is still being patient waiting for the police chief. A cop car with its lights flashing pulls into the station. The chief gets out and rushes into the station. He looks to the other policeman at the desk and says boastfully, I think we have our famous burglar! Elizabeth stunned to hear the news, looks at the chief, and says, What? You have the burglars! She calms down and asks the chief if she can go to Smethport to take the accused to the jail along with the chief. The chief glances at her and then looks back to the paperwork. Oh come on, it will be a learning experience for me. And if you actually have the right people, you wont be needing me on the task force. Remember you said that youd let me on the force if I caught the robbers, and people are innocent until proven guilty! Therefore, I should be able to start as soon as possible. The police chief glances at her again and says, I didnt hear a word you said, but I suppose you can come with me to Smethport. The police car departs for Smethport, Pennsylvania. Edward back in his studio tunes his voice. He sounds terrible. My gosh, I cant sing today. My voice is shot. At least I have the words down and the music ready to go. I just need my voice. This is going to be a complete disaster, I just know it is. Edward looks down and holds his hand over his eyes. His hand ventures down to his throat. Hoping he can loosen it up by rubbing it, he massages his neck. He looks at the clock and it says it is almost noon. Edward ventures up to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. He thinks that the hot liquid might help his throat and also wake him up a little. On his way he notices the Kane Republican hanging in the mail slot. He fixes his coffee, pours a cup, and then heads to the mail slot. He unfolds the Kane Republican to read the main heading, Two Men Rob Yet Another House. He reads the article, Two men have robbed another house. An eye witness has reported that a break-in that happened around 8:40 PM last night was caused by two unknown men. These men were wearing dark clothing and had hoods up. The eye witness gave the police other information which was not available in time for press release. Edward looks at his home. Then he says, I guess its better to be safe than sorry. Ill call Open Sesame and have them install a home security device around the property. If what Elizabeth said was true, I could be next. Back in Smethport Elizabeth, the chief, and the accused burglar wait outside in a hall way. The chief gets a call on his cell phone from the station. The officer at the desk says, Chief, I think we made a mistake. Thats not the burglar. We just got three more calls this morning about break-ins from last night. Hold on sir, the phones ringing. There is some talking from the officer and the chief tells Elizabeth to watch the accused burglar sitting on the bench. The accused burglar talks to Elizabeth. This is ridiculous. Im only 19 years old. Just because I own a few hoodies doesnt make me out to be a bad guy. Elizabeth begins to listen closely. This is stupid. My neighbor hates me and hates my friends. He pry set me up. Elizabeth responds, Youre probably right. And you dont fit the stereotypical robber. Tell me about yourself, if you dont mind. The 19 year old talks to Elizabeth stating he did okay in high school and didnt plan on going to college. Elizabeth tells him that if he wants to succeed in life, college is his best bet. The chief returns to tell the accused and Elizabeth that they are all going back to Kane. On the way home Elizabeth asks the chief what the phone call was all about. There was just another break in a few hours ago. These damn kids are robbing the town in broad day light now! Where are the citizens? Why hasnt anyone stopped them yet? The chief hits his hand on the steering wheel and Elizabeth smiles because she knows she still has a shot on becoming the towns newest police officer. Elizabeth turns to the chief and the chief looks back at her and he says, Listen, dont say a word. Youre joining the team. I need all the help I can get.
Ice Box Episode 6: All Nighter Elizabeth joins the police team and is starting her first shift that night. She is told to stay at the police barracks and answer any calls. The other officer will cruise around town in the cop car. She does so. It is a quiet night. She waits by the phone hoping it will ring. She finally gets her wish when the phone rings. There is a car wreck on James City hill. She feels bummed out but radios for the fire department, ambulance, and fire police. She remains at the station waiting for another phone call. Edward is still up working on his songs. His voice is becoming scratchy and hes becoming upset with his performance. He walks back upstairs for another cup of coffee. While hes in the kitchen he hears a noise coming from the doorway. Edward pauses for a moment. This is it! The burglars have come to me. Ill be ready for them. Theyll be sorry, he says as he puts down the cup of coffee. Suddenly the doorbell rings and he jumps. What kind of burglar rings the doorbell? He goes and answers the door. It is his brother, Jamie. He lets him in and the two sit down to talk in the living room. What are you doing up so late? he asks his brother. His brother responds saying he couldnt sleep and was worried about Edward. I know how you get before big performances. Well, Kane Fest isnt exactly big, but to Kane it is. Thats all we have during the summer. Edward stands up and gets his coffee in the kitchen. He hollers to his brother to see if he wants anything. Jamie says hes fine. Edward rejoins his brother in the living room. The show isnt all thats bothering me. Its these damn burglars that are running around town. Elizabeth says I may be a prime target. I hope shes wrong, but she knows what shes talking about. All I can do is sit and wait I guess, Edward says. Jamie asks to spend the night with Edward. Edward tells him he can sleep in the guest bedroom. Edward gets up and walks toward the basement door. Jamie looks at Edward then asks him what hes doing. Edward explains that hes practicing his show downstairs. Jamie asks to go down and listen in as he practices. Edward at this point doesnt care. The two go downstairs. I feel like this is my first day of singing ever. I sound terrible. Elizabeth is still back at the station and finishes her shift. She goes home to get some sleep. She wakes up to find a message on her computer from Edward. It reads: I took your advice and had security devices put up. You can rest assured that Ill be safe, and Ill feel rest assured that the streets are safe because youre out there. Thank you. Elizabeth sighs. She feels worthless being put behind the desk all night. She goes out to get the newspaper later on in the morning. Another house was robbed. Shes beating herself up because she wasnt out on the streets to catch the criminals. This has to stop, she says as she gets into the car to patrol the town. Edward wakes up in the late afternoon and collects his mail. He has received a letter from Geri. She and the rest of her band from the Spice Girls are getting back together. Edward sits down to write a letter back stating how happy he is for her and wishes her all the success in the world. Edward looks at the time. He cant believe he slept all day. He showers and then plans to take a walk by himself. During his walk he thinks to himself about his career, the town, and Elizabeth. While somewhere in the middle of town he sees someone that shocks him. He rubs his eyes and the person disappears around a corner. My eyes must be playing tricks on me now. I better get back and get some more rest, he says. He arrives back at the Kane Manor, opens the door and the alarm goes off. He forgot to reset the security system before he opened the door. He quickly resets it before the police came. Edward rubs his eyes and then goes back downstairs to practice some more.
Ice Box Episode 7: Taking A Break (8/3/07) The next week goes by and the town is in an uproar over the polices lack of effort in catching the famous burglars. Elizabeth sits at the desk answering phone calls when the chief walks in. Chief! Listen, you know our deal about me keeping this job, yet you have me stuck behind this desk all day! How am I supposed to catch the burglar if Im not out there where I can find them? Its not as if they are going to walk right in through the door. Just then Edward walks into the police department. The chief and Elizabeth turn and look at him. Edward looks back at them. The three pauses a moment and then the chief tells Elizabeth shell be on patrol duty tomorrow. Elizabeth is excited. The chief exits the department building and Elizabeth and Edward are left alone. I read your away message, thats how I knew you were here, Edward says. He continues, I added a security system around the house and I was just wondering if there was anything else the newest police officer would like to advise me to do. Elizabeth thinks for a moment and tells him he might want to put up a few cameras in the area to watch over the grounds. Nothing is more incriminating than photos or video, she says. The phone rings and Elizabeth answers it. Edward looks at his watch then motions that hes going to leave. Elizabeth nods her head and waves with her other hand. Edward returns to the Kane Manor. He picks up the Kane Republican. The top heading reads Burglars Take A Break as it appears the burglars have stopped for the time being. In a smaller heading on the bottom half of the front page is an article about the upcoming Kane Fest. Edward BoJangles To Perform reads the title. The article goes on to explain the events of this years festival, including Edwards performance in the late afternoon. Edward gets butterflies in his stomach after reading the article stating how excited the town is. He then becomes angry over the newspaper because he feels the article should have been the top story, not the burglars. Edward goes downstairs to the basement where his studio is to practice some more. After a few songs and singing a little better than the past few weeks, Edward becomes frustrated. He decides to take a walk to cool down. Edward sets the alarm before he leaves. While on his walk he runs into Bradley and his new boyfriend. The couple is wearing hoodies and Edward points out that right now wearing them in town is not the best idea. The three gossip over the news. After a little while Edward tells them to continue and that he is sorry for interrupting their walk together. Bradley smiles and says that it is alright that Edward stopped and talked to them. Bradleys boyfriend smiles as well. All three say their goodbyes and continue on their walk. Edward continues walking around town. Suddenly he glances around and sees a young man, the same young man he saw the other time he was out walking by himself. He is in shock and rubs his eyes as if his eyes are playing tricks on him. He runs after the person. The young man sees Edward and begins to run away. Edward tries to run faster. The other man disappears through a side street. Edward looses him and then returns home upset. This is no time for me to loose my head. What is wrong with me? Is the pressure of having a small concert for my hometown too much for me? Im starting to see people who arent really there. This is not good. Edward prepares a warm washcloth and puts it over his face. The phone rings, which startles Edward. It is Elizabeth who wants to know if he would enjoy a walk around town. Edward says that hes had enough of walking around town for today and explains to her that he needs a break to relax. Elizabeth is worried about Edward, but lets him go to relax. She wouldnt understand if I told her who I have been seeing and why I think Im loosing my mind, he says before lying down on the couch to cover his face again.
Ice Box Episode 8: "Unmasked: Part 1" (8/15/2007) Edward wakes up after falling asleep with the washcloth over his face. He wishes yesterday was all a bad dream. He makes some coffee and eats breakfast. He practices singing his songs in the shower. He begins to show improvement with his singing. He walks downstairs heading towards the basement to his studio. On his way he sees his brother, Jamie, coming to the front door. He lets him in and leads him to the living room. The two sit down to talk. Moms being all weird. I had to get away, he says. Edward looks at him with an inquiring look. What do you mean being weird? he asks. Well, this past week shes been harping on Scott to get a job. All he does is sleep, eat, and run around town with his no good friends. Hes never going to graduate high school. I swear hes adopted, because theres no way were related to him, he answers. Edward nods his head and sips on his coffee. And now shes getting on my case. I have joined so many clubs and organizations from school and church Im always on the move. I wish I had a car. Then I could come and go as I please. Anyway, band camp is coming up next month and I was wondering if youd be able to help us out. Stop by and give us a few pointers. Although, the band as a whole has improved a lot since you were in it, so I dont think you could help us out that much, Jamie says as he gives Edward a look. Edward rolls his eyes at his brother then speaks, I would love to come back to band and all that, but telling me, Im not any good, isnt the best way to get me to go. Id love to see all my younger friends again, but I dont know if I should, he contemplates. Jamie looks at Edward, Its your call. I dont really care if you come or not, but apparently we need the help. Why do you need my help? asks Edward. Well, Mr. Hofmann left us and now all we have is Mr. T directing us and hes going to have his hands full. He wanted me to ask you, Jamie answers. Oh, is that all? Edward asks. Thats about it. Oh, and do you mind if I stay here for the day to hang out? Maybe play some video games or something, I wont bother you because I know youre busy with other things, Jamie says. I suppose. Ill be down stairs if you need anything, but dont come down and get in my way. Edward says as he gets up and walks downstairs. While Jamie is upstairs setting up the video games, Edward is downstairs practicing his songs and dance routine for his show in two days. Edward is really improving each time and he begins to feel confident that this show will be his best yet. He goes through his songs twice more, then takes a break. He heads upstairs to find Jamie asleep on the couch while Who Framed Roger Rabbit plays on the television. He shuts it off and then decides to go for a run around town. Hoping not to see this person who doesnt exist, Edward changes into shorts and prepares for the run. He has his MP3 player on full blast and hopes for the best. During his run around town all is well, until he arrives by a house with cop cars outside with their lights on. He wonders if Elizabeth is there and maybe he could get the scoop on what is going on. He slows his pace down to a slow walk and turns off his MP3 player. Neighbors are outside standing around gossiping. Edward over hears a few of them talking. Apparently the burglars just broke in not too long ago and stole their laptop, CDs, and few other things. This is getting out of hand; I hope they catch whoever it is soon. Edward is looking for Elizabeth but doesnt see her. He continues on his way. The police chief notices Edward running away. He calls for Elizabeth to help identify Edward. Yea, thats him. He must be exercising because hes nervous about his show in a couple of days, she says. Is that so? asks the chief. Edward continues his run through town. He manages to get all the way home and is relieved to not see the man who he claims doesnt exist. Edward enters his house and sees a note from his brother. It reads, Thanks for letting me stay here for a little while. I didnt want to bother you since I know you were busy so I left without telling you. If its at all possible stop by the house, Mom really wants to see you. Maybe that will calm her down and get off my case. See you later. Jamie. Edward tosses the note down on the coffee table and decides to practice some more feeling energetic. During his practicing he keeps thinking about seeing this mystery man. He stops practicing and contemplates canceling his show at Kane Fest in two days. If this doesnt get out of my head soon, I will have to cancel my show and let down an entire town. I cant let that happen. Edward takes a bath to relax and get his mind off of everything that is troubling him. Back at the house that was just burglarized, the chief gets a phone call of recent evidence that arrived at the station. A resident who installed a hidden security camera has caught the buglers on tape. The officer at the station reports that they have a video of them entering into a neighbors house the day before. Finally, well be able to have them before the week is up! the chief says as he flips his cell phone proudly.
Ice Box Episode 9: Unmasked Part 2/3 (8/22/2007) The day before Kane Fest, the Kane Republican has asked Edward for an interview to appear in the newspaper the following day. Edward has accepted and the reporter has arrived at his house. Edward welcomes the reporter, walks her to the living room and offers her a drink. I wouldnt mind a cup of coffee, I suppose, she says. Ill be right back, Edward says with a smile. Soon after Edward returns with two cups of coffee, cream, and sugar on a tray. The reporter looks at Edward, smiles, and then fixes her coffee to her liking. So lets get started, are you ready? she asks him. He makes a smile and nods. Its been a long time since Kane has had someone famous come home and stay. Do you plan on staying longer or is this town too small for you since youve been gone? the reporter continues. Well, to be honest, Im glad to be back. This is where I grew up and I enjoy it here, most of the time. My friends are still here and they give me a reason to stay. I dont have plans on leaving, but sometimes it is good to get away. Edward answers. The reporter continues to ask him questions, You have a new album coming out in the near future, are there any big plans for this one? Edward looks at her and smirks, With all my work, theres always big plans, but with this one, I dont think these plans compare to my other plans in the past. This album, Im hoping, will be out sometime in the next few months. Theres nothing big happening, and its just going to be sold locally. I dont see myself as big as I once was. Edward says as he then sips on some of his coffee. The reporter then looks at him and replies, You have lost some weight and look like youve been working out, youre looking good actually. Edward begins to blush. I have been running a bit more and walking with my friend, Elizabeth, which has become the highlight of my day usually, he says. The reporter begins to ask him questions about his upcoming performance at Kane Fest tomorrow. What do you think about Kane Fest and your performance? she asks. Edward looks at the floor then looks up at her and answers, Well, Kane Fest is the social event of the year. Nothing comes close to getting the town together. Its just really sad that it has become more and more depressing each year watching the big Fest become closer to nothing except socializing. Wheres the fun? Wheres the excitement? As for my performance, Im just trying to bring a little of the fun and excitement back into the lives of the town. It will pry take a lot more than me to do it though. The reporter jots down his statement in her notes. Edward has a half smile on his face, scared she may ask follow up questions to get some negative answers out of Edward about the town. He tries his best to remain confident. She looks at Edward and then asks a question he was not expecting, What do you think about the burglaries that have taken this town by storm? Edward looks at her in surprise. He recovers and then answers, Im really surprised that the police department hasnt been able to catch these people. I just think its terrible that this is happening. Im sure in the near future they will have them in custody. My friend Elizabeth who has just joined the police department recently really knows her criminal background. Im sure shell be able to figure out who is behind these crimes and bring them into justice. The reporter asks Edward a few more questions about the crime spree thats plagued the small town then realizes a question she should have asked long ago to get a great story. You spoke of your friend, Elizabeth, a couple of times, is there anything there, relationship wise? she asks him. Edward smiles and laughs a little, No, theres nothing there, except for friendship. However, if something was going on with Elizabeth and I, theres little doubt that I would not disclose any information without talking to her first. And before you ask if theres anyone else in my life, no, no there isnt. Im alone. Well, well, well, Mr. BoJangles, you sure do know how to answer questions from the press. Well, its about time for me to go so I can work on this before print time tomorrow morning. Thank you for the interview and good luck tomorrow, she says as she stands up. Edward leads her to the door and opens it, Thank you for the interview, I think its calmed me down a little. Ill make sure to buy a copy tomorrow. The reporter leaves and Edward closes the door behind him, lets out a breath of air, and then glides down the door against his back. Later that evening Edward goes for a walk with Elizabeth to calm down. During their walk Edward sees someone in dark clothing. Their face is shadowed by a hood. Suddenly the face becomes visible as light glares crossed it. Edward who has been seeing this person a lot finally lets it slip to Elizabeth thats hes going crazy. Elizabeth, Im going crazy. I keep seeing someone around town, but they cant be there, Edward tells her. She questions why the people cant be there and he answers, Because the person I am seeing is me!
Ice Box Episode 10: Unmasked Part 3/3 (9/29/2007) The past few days in the Ice Box have been packed with action it seems. Elizabeth, and the rest of the police force, has been busy trying to catch a team of burglars who have terrorized the whole town. It is the day of Kane Fest, the towns social event of the year. Edward has been busy working on his new songs and the stress is mounting. He has become crazy from the stress, explaining to Elizabeth that he has been seeing someone around town that doesnt exist. Elizabeth had asked him what he means, and he replied that the person he was seeing was himself! Edward is up early in the morning to squeeze some extra practice time into his already busy schedule. He has been scheduled to meet with a makeup artist, hair stylist, and Elizabeth before tonights events. The hair stylist arrives at his house at nine in the morning to cut and style his hair. Edward is excited for a new look. After his hair is finished he waits around for a few hours. Elizabeth goes into work for the day. The chief seems extremely happy. The mayor is also in the police station and looking very happy. Elizabeth walks into the chiefs office since the door was open. She knocks then walks in. The chief introduces her to the mayor and brags about her dedication to work. The mayor smiles at her and tells her that he is happy she is on the squad. She asks why the two of them were so happy. They look at each other, then the chief looks at her. Well, todays going to be a great day. Today is the day well catch those burglars, he says. She asks how that is going to happen. Its quite simple really. We already know where they are going to be. Well be there and be ready to take them into custody. Then its a matter of paperwork and thats it! the chief continued. Elizabeth, who is full of questions continues, Where are they going to be and whos going to be the one to do the arresting? She presses her eye brows together and alternately glances at the mayor and chief. My dear, you sure are full of questions. They will be at Kane Fest today and Ill be the one making the moves. I just need back-up in case they flee. Ill need you to guard one of the exits. Dont wear your uniform; I dont want them to get suspicious of whats going to happen. Dress casual and if they run towards your exit, youll nab them. Got it? Elizabeth nods. She then leaves the office and hops in the police car to patrol the area for the early morning. She drives by Kane Fest and sees a big crowd already. She wonders who the chief is going to arrest and if hell need backup. She is worried Kane Fest will turn into a disaster if guns are involved around hundreds of civilians. She wants to talk to the chief about this mistake he will make. She drives back to the station. The makeup artist is due to arrive at the Kane Manor, Edwards home. He waits patiently. His hair looks great. Finally, the artist arrives and they get started. Edward is becoming more nervous every minute. Finally the makeup is finished and he thanks her for a job well done. The makeup artist leaves and Edward gathers up his things for his performance at Kane Fest. Once he has everything, he drives to Kane Fest. Back at the station, Elizabeth warns the chief about the disaster that will happen if they arrest the burglars at Kane Fest around hundreds of civilians and the possibility of gunfire. The chief says he doesnt want to hear her concerns. Elizabeth becomes angry. You have to listen to me, chief. Innocent people could get hurt if gunfire is exchanged between us and the burglars! she exclaims. The chief tells her to get back on the street and change in time for the bust tonight at Kane Fest. Your post will be at the south entrance. Be there by 5 oclock. Wait for orders when I get there. Youll have a great advantage being put there, youll see everything. Chances are, if they try and run, theyll come towards your exit. Be ready. Elizabeth leaves the police station upset, changes her clothes and arrives at Kane Fest. Edward is just arriving to Kane Fest and walks by Elizabeth. He walks over to her to talk. Elizabeth tells Edward about the danger lurking tonight. Edward is worried about being on a stage above the crowd, being an open target. Elizabeth tells him, that if guns are fired, he will be safer than the people on the ground. Theyll fire at the police, not someone up on stage singing, silly, she says and the two laugh. Edward tells her he has to go get ready. His performance is at 6 oclock and he has less than an hour to be ready. Edward and the technicians do a few sound checks and Edward is worried about his show, the burglars, and guns. Soon the show is about to start. Edward starts off with his song, Dont Cry For Me, Pennsylvania, a slow calming song. The chief arrives to Kane Fest to update Elizabeth on the situation. Were going to get him. Its only a matter of time. Hes definitely here and were ready for him. Well have to make him talk to give us his partners name, but if we can get one of them, well get the other. Edward BoJangles, will be under arrest before the end of the night. Elizabeth is shocked at the news that the police are after Edward! Elizabeth tells him that Edward cannot be the one who has burglarized the town. The chief says that his face is clearly visible on the tape back at the station entering the house that was burglarized a few days ago. She is told to stay put and stop him if he makes a run for it. Elizabeth says that the police are making a big mistake! On stage Edwards costume is poking the middle of his back and causing him discomfort. He sings another slow beat song, March Away. The crowd can see him squirm in his costume. He finishes the song and then begins to warm up the crowd by talking and pepping them up. He then sings Final Halftime which is a faster remix type version of his song. The crowd loves this faster version. The song ends and Edward thanks the crowd for their applause. Just then, the chief runs up on stage and arrests Edward. The crowd is in an uproar and shock. The chief tells the citizens of Kane that Edward BoJangles is the criminal behind the burglaries and he is under arrest. Edward, who has handcuffs on now, refuses and denies that he is the burglar! The police chief reads him his rights and then escorts him out of Kane Fest through Elizabeths exit. Edward looks at Elizabeth and screams, Im not the burglar, I swear it, they dont know what theyre doing! Elizabeth help me! Stop them! Elizabeth just looks in shock and is told to hold the crowd back which has started to follow Edward and the chief. Elizabeth turns her back to the crowd with arms wide open holding them back and watching Edward be carried away. She begins to become very angry with the chief and holds back tears.
