I tried to pick a topic.  Possible ones include:
      Music and math
      Baseball and math
Went to previous students sites:
http://www.geocities.com/michigankh/- this was a bad site
http://www.angelfire.com/music3/math3/home.html- this was a really good and
             informative site
http://www.angelfire.com/il3/camera/- this is a good site but not the topic
             I want to do
http://geocities.yahoo.com/home- this is a really good source for the actual
              building of my site
http://geocities.yahoo.com/home- not as good as geocities.com for building my
              page but it is still
a backup source if I need it
       http://professional.homestead.com/~site/FeaturedSite/FeaturedSite.
ffhtml?URL=www.carmelorecordings.com- really good example of a
              professional site on music
http://professional.homestead.com/~site/OurService/- good site for a profession
business to build a site but not for me
Decided on topic:
       Music and math

Began research on topic
http://www.csm.astate.edu/music.html- really good site that gives lots of info
             involving trigonometry and music
        http://www.math.niu.edu/~rusin/papers/uses-math/music/- another good site that
gives some background information comparing math and music and the effects
             they have on each other
        Sent E-mail to
Dave Rusin and asked for approval to use his site as a link.

My name is Sarah Sommer and I am a high school student in Illinois. I am
doing a project for Algebra II on mathematics and music. It consists of us
building a website that explains our topic in depth. I was searching
through various sites and was interested by yours. I was wondering if I
could use your site as a link from mine. Thank you very much. My site is:
            http://www.geocities.com/isymjazz. I haven't started the actual building
of it yet because I'm still researching my topic. However, when it is
done, you're welcome to look at it. Thank you very much.

            main%2Faskjeeves%2Easp%3Fask%3Dmath%252C%2Bmusic%26o%3D0&ask=math%2C+music-
lots of good information that involves intervals in music and equations in
            math that satisfy those intervals

Received response from Dave Rusin about using his site as a link

By all means you are welcome to make links to my site.
        Good luck with your project.

Continued research on my topic
Checked out Dave Rusins site (http://www.math.niu.edu/~rusin/papers/uses-math/music/)
                again for more information
http://www.math.washington.edu/~hillman/Entropy/infcode.html- not a very good site; it
focuses more on math and communication not math and music
http://www.unifr.ch/perso/beermi/mathandmusic.pdf- this is an essay someone wrote on
the relationship between math and music.  It is really good but way too long.
