| continued from previous page... Sent E-mail to Michael Beer asking for permission to use his site as a link. My name is Sarah Sommer and I am a high school student in Illinois. I am doing a project for Algebra II on mathematics and music. It consists of us building a website that explains our topic in depth. I was searching through various sites and was interested by yours. I was wondering if I could use your site as a link from mine. Thank you very much. My site is: http://www.geocities.com/isymjazz. I haven't started the actual building of it yet because I'm still researching my topic. However, when it is done, you're welcome to look at it. Thank you very much. Sarah Sommer http://www.math.uga.edu/~djb/math-music.html- this site isnt what Im looking for; it lists a class curriculum and doesnt describe anything Log Off Time: 8:02 PM |
| October 29, 2001- Log On Time: 5:30 PM Received response from Michael Beer about using his site (http://www.unifr.ch/perso/beermi/mathandmusic.pdf) as a link. Hi Sarah, Thank you for your mail. Of course you may use my site as a link from yours. You can directly refer to http://www.unifr.ch/perso/beermi/mathandmusic.htm Please tell me when your site is finished, so that I can add it as a link to my site too. Regards from Switzerland. | November 4, 2001- Log On Time: 2:20 PM Continued research on my topic http://www.iguanagraphics.com/musimatics/index.html- this is a good site for anyone looking for a book on the relation between math and music but not for me because it only sells books. I found this quote that describes the relation between math and music. It is a good quote that I might put on my site. "Music gives beauty and another dimension to mathematics by giving life and emotion to the numbers and patterns." -Charity Kahn, Math and Music: Harmonious Connections http://www.geocities.com/Athens/2405/index.html- this site isnt very good because it is for little kids who are beginning in music and it doesnt really relate to math. http://www.peel.edu.on.ca/~centralpeel/DEPART/MUSIC/THEORY/UNIT11/UNI11.HTM- this site wasnt very helpful because it is mainly for younger musicians, but it did have a little bit of useful information. http://ericir.syr.edu/Virtual/Lessons/Arts/Music/MUS0004.html- this site had a lot of links, but the links werent what I was looking for. http://www.netstoreusa.com/eabooks/068/0684872765.shtml- this site was advertising books so it wasnt very helpful. http://www.musicofpi.com/#FreeDL- this site is interesting because it explores a new song experiment that uses Pi, however it doesnt really help me very much. http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/9349/- this site is good for someone who wants to listen to different types of music that involve math, but it wasnt very helpful to me. http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/9349/functions.html#trig- this site was really good because it has a lot of different formulas and theories for the relationship between math and music. | November 22, 2001- Log On Time: 11:51 AM I began working on the construction of my site. I switched my site to: http://www.geocities.com/isymjazz/MathandMusicPage1 I added the background to my page and read about how to add further things like pictures and text. I wrote e-mails to Michael Beer and Dave Rusin informing them of my site address change. This is Sarah Sommer. I recently e-mailed you asking for permission for a link to your site. I wanted to inform you that I have changed the site. It is: http://www.geocities.com/isymjazz/MathandMusicPage1. Thank you very much! Sarah Log Off Time: 12:48 PM |
