| General Resort Snow Situation The recent weather system has brought cold temperatures and snow to all of us, even plenty at low levels. The resorts should benefit from this and expect good skiing over the next few days, if they manage to open their roads and the conditions are not too severe. Expect a busy weekend. | Cairngorm Mountain- Lots of new snow allowing Cairngorm to open more runs today hopefully. They are currently having problems opening the roads but hope to open later today. They currently indicate that 3 zones are open, but expect more to open later on when all runs have been assessed. Projected opening today- Ptamigan T-bar, Coire na Ciste T-bar, Cas T-bar, Funicular and maybe the M1 Poma. There will be a complete run from top to bottom via the home road. Other runs complete with fresh snow- Ptarmigan Bowl including Ciste Fairway, Traverse, 105, Cas, Gunbarrel, Zig-Zags, Home road. Expect more to open. Upper snow depth- 28cm, Lower snow depth- 15cm. Midday temperature (-8.2). Glencoe- Set only to open at weekends this winter. Has good new snow and should be able to open most if not all lifts at the weekend weather permitting. It remains to be seen whether you will be able to ski all the way to the carpark at the weekend. Upper snow depth- 39cm, Lower snow depth- 15cm. Midday temperature (-3). Glenshee- Roads blocked but will try to get them open later today. All runs filling in nicely and all main runs complete with fresh snow. Expected uplift when roads open- Claybokie Poma, Cairnwell T-bar, Bucharts Access Poma, Bucharts T-bar, Carn Aosda T-bar, Dink-dink Poma, Plastic Slope Poma, Sunnyside Poma 1and Sunnyside Poma 2. Groomers working overtime to pack the snow down so it doesn't blow off the hill in the strong winds. Upper snow depth- 20cm, Lower snow depth- 10cm. Midday temperature (-3). Nevis Range- Good amount of new snow overnight has increased the amount of runs and uplift expected to open. Roads open as they are a lot lower than other ski centres roads. All upper runs complete with a terrain park at the summit. Middle runs much improved and now easily ski-able. Good beginners area. Opening today- Alpha Button, Goose T-bar, Quad Chair, Summit button, Linnhe and Lochy button, Portable Trainer Tow and Gondola. Upper snow depth- 35cm, Lower snow depth- 15cm. Midday temperature (-4). The Lecht- Roads currently closed but they may be cleared today. Loads of snow over the past few days giving excellent conditions on all runs. All runs complete. All uplift expected to open this weekend and on demand today or tomorrow if they can get the roads open. Are working on packing the snow down and pisting. Upper snow depth- 25cm, Lower snow depth 10cm. Midday temperature (-6). ALWAYS CHECK THE ROADS BEFORE TRAVELLING- IF THE SNOW CONTINUES IT IS LIKELY THEY WILL BE BLOCKED. |
