The Lecht
Location-
The Lecht is situated in the centre of Scotland, on the infamous A939 Cockbridge to Tomintoul road. In winter, this is probably the worst road for blockages and it is worth checking out that the road is safe and open before travelling. Even then, this road is often subject to freak storms appearing out of nowhere and causing problems. Situated at 2090ft,with a peak height of 2551ft it might not be as high as its other Scottish counterparts, but the ski area collects and holds snow well in the winter and the Lecht is also the only Scottish resort to have snow machines.

The ski area-
The area consists of 22 runs, 3 on the east side, and 19 on the west, and 14 lifts, 13 on the west side and 1 on the east. There is 1 chairlift, the Snowy Owl, and the rest are pomas, with exception of 5 tag-a-long lifts where learners can just grab the rope. There is a snowboard fun park, which opens more often than other parks in Scotland as the Lecht's jumps are constructed from earth, so only a layer of snow is needed over the top to make it rideable.

Services-
The Lecht's catering used to be its major downside. Before now, a small cafe was used to serve the whole mountain and this resulted in huge queues and unhappy customers. This summer, however, the Lecht began construction of a new building, so that tickets, cafe and equipment hire will all be under the one roof. Hopefully, this development will mean a better catering service for customers, and less people will be forced into bringing packed lunches! The lecht also has a small ski school and good equipment hire.
