treks organised and managed by the Tribal Eco-development Committees.
To suit the interest and fitness of various groups of visitors,
soft, medium and hard trekking trails are available in this sanctuary
ranging from merely taking a short walk and losing oneself in the
serenity of Shola (evergreen) forests, little climbing and having
a bird's eye view of the seamless blending of forests and waterscape
of the reservoirs to conquering the tallest peaks of the sanctuary.
Tourists can make their choice on the spot after consulting the
able tribal Eco-guides.
Wildlife
Safari
For
the tourists who cannot spare more time but still want to experience
the wilderness and get educated regarding conservation of forests
and wildlife, opportunity is available in the form of wildlife sightseeing
tour conducted by the Tribal Eco-development Committees using the
minibus of the forest department. The three hour ride will take
them through various forest types and provide them a glimpse of
the charismatic wildlife present in the sanctuary. It could be a
lone tusker or a loving family of majestic elephants. It could be
a huge herd of dark and muscular but docile gaurs (Indian bison)
or sambar or spotted deer or a sloth bear lurking in the bushes.
If fortunate, sighting a languid leopard or a terrific tiger is
also not impossible. Not to mention the scores of unique birds who
will score the background music during the whole trip.
