I didn't get the WAY beginning when Alex walked out, and I don't remember
exactly how he was introduced,(if anyone knows, please help!) but I got this much out of it: [WS=William Shatner, AB=Alex Band and CB=Charles Band] WS-You're Alex Band, and the incredible thing is you're 20 years old which is .middle aged for a rock musician and you have this huge hit! Tell me about that AB-It's the first single off our first record, which came out in America almost a year ago now, and we've been touring ever since. But now it's gone international and it's ...number 1 in like, 11 or 12 countries ?...WS-and it's title is .AB-Wherever you will go ?...WS-Wherever you will go...and it was written for, applied to AB-It was applied to a lot of things actually, one of the things being Enterprise, .which I was saying before was funny ...WS-Star Trek commercials AB-It was actually used in the NHL Playoffs, the World Series, the Olympics, we played in Salt Lake, so it's...yea WS-Fantastic! So you've got an international hit, but it was used as/in .advertisements for Star Trek AB-Yea a lot of different things ...WS-So, science fiction, Star Trek, enters into that song right away *AB-Yeah, 'wherever you will go'...*laughs WS-Wherever you will go-where no song has gone before. The other incredible part .and really the connection between you, Alex Band, is Charles Band .AB-*laughs* Yes !?WS-Who is Charles Band AB-that would be my crazy father, who makes all these movies that they're all about to watch. I mean my first memory is like, a 15 foot baby, ya know, ripping a girl's ...clothes off or something !WS-of course! a childhood memory ...AB- that was typical ?WS-from a horror movie.... That's remarkable. Did it affect you do you think AB- not really-I mean in good ways, nothing bad. Honestly, I think growing up with that and seeing how it was created made it easier for me as a kid to watch horror .movies WS-so you don't think your association with terror and horror movies as a youngster, ?a first memory of a 15-foot monster, affected you not at all AB- ummm not to follow rock music, but definitely to be stronger of a person and not to be scared of things and whatnot WS-and you've acted in films AB-a little bit, actually with the band we were in a movie called coyote ugly WS-oh coyote ugly, I saw it yea AB-yea, we're in it performing the song, the hit song but beforehand growing up, I acted of lot of parts in a lot of my dad's movies. I know a lot of our fans now are going back to research the movies I was in ?WS-do you remember any AB- oh yea ?WS-what AB-I was in [some movie I couldn't tell what the name was... if anyone knows, please help!] 2, puppetmaster 2, I was in all the 2's...I was in a movie called Dr. Mordrid-I actually had a line in that one ?WS-And what was the line you had AB-*sigh* something like...'man they were giants'? I was looking up at a giant ...dinosaur or something ?WS-Would you do me a favor Alex AB-yea ...WS-Deliever the line like you did AB-Aaah I need to see the movie, it's been so long WS-No no, man, they were giants ...AB-I think I was about 7 WS-Right here is the giant and when I say action, I want you to deliver the line AB-and I was there with my mother WS-ok put your arm around your mother AB-well it would be around her waist, I was tiny ?WS-ok right here now, ready AB-ok !WS-action AB-[saying this whole thing in a kiddy/almost girlie voice] man, they ...were giants! and that's exactly how I sounded cause I was just a little kid *everyone laughs* .WS-You know who would be so proud of you? I'm gonna surprise you ?AB-who !WS-your father *Charlie walks out* CB-it can't be that much of a surprise AB-no, no it's not, I knew he had something to do with this whole thing WS-Well Charlie, you must be so proud of your son CB- well I am cause you know, a heartbeat ago he was that little kid *they mock Alex* WS-man they were giants CB-man they were giants *they laugh* WS-say it again AB-no, no I can't *laughs* CB-one quick story. I mean how interesting it is you know for Alex's life and since he came on this planet has been visiting me on the sets of all my little horror movies, probably at least a hundred, not just 1, cause I've made over 200 movies and he's always on the set and in different countries, Italy and America, and it was a thrill for me a few months ago to visit him on his set for a rock video. It was a strange reversal and let me tell you his set was a lot bigger, a lot more impressive with a lot more money and people than this set right now. *all laugh* WS-You've got a great career in another area than your father, but maybe one day you'll work together !AB-I'd love to !CB-right now, here we are AB-I've been begging him to put my band in a movie so we could all be killed. It'd !be great ...CB-of course now its not as simple, now I have to call the manager and RCA !WS-Expensive ?!CB-oh I know who could afford it *AB-no no...I'll get killed for free *more laughter WS-Thank you for coming AB-thank you! I appreciate it *they all shake hands* |
