It's always a guarantee that on any big TV show in America we do, the host(s) always seem to f*ck up the tittle of our songs and(or) album. What is up with that? This one was the most classic: Kelly said, "And here's the Calling with they're new single 'It could happen to anyone'..uh I mean 'Could it happen to you'..uh (eer...'Could it Be Any Hard...Harder'." That definitely wins the award. - Alex (tour diary - november 27, 2002 ���! The first one is just unreal. It was discusting, but Scary Movie 2 is 10 times worse. But it will definitely get you laughing, that's for sure! - Alex Band in J-14 (There gay lovers. No matter what has been thrown our way, we're still doing what we want to do. - Aaron Kamin We're all clothes whores - Alex Band Bon Jovi. I was 11, and I took a girl... in a limo. It was funny. That was my first experience with rock stardom. I wanted to be like Bon Jovi. But musically i was more into the Beetles. - Alex (about his first concert) Leaving Bangkok was anything but easy. When we left the hotel, we were immediately followed by at least ten taxi cars full of fans. We weren't that worried though, by then they were practically becoming part of our group. Aaron tried to show the young Thai fans that he was O.K. by mooning them as they drove by on the freeway. I'm sure the sight of his naked white ass showed them just that, or blinded them. - Alex Boston was a blast. The venue was smaller than most but packed way beyond capacity. That was an intense show. I always go to grab peoples hands while we're performing but this one girl had like a gorilla grip and wouldn't let go for like two minutes...I must admit I was a little scared. My wee little frail hand was all red and crushed. -Alex Nick Carter has gotten all bloated and fat now! - Alex R.C.A. signed us early on and held us back for years. It was kind of writing and driving ourselves crazy and ripping our hair out. - Alex It's always been my biggest dream to tour with my brother. I love to watch him (play) every night. - Sean I think it just brings a whole new aspect to playing live and what the show means to the people. - Sean It's a beautiful, beautiful place; we don't get trees in Los Angeles. - Sean on Arkansas Work hard and keep it honest. Naked women and all that kind of stuff. - Alex on growing up When this came up, I was like, 'I'm not doing school anymore, I'm going to be a rock star.' And all my friends are jealous. Then the years go on, and I'm working for my dad, signed to this major deal without any money coming in. It was so bittersweet. - Alex The real meaning of that song is that someone in Aaron's family and someone in my family passed away pretty much at the same time. It's a song about almost wanting to go with the person once they're gone. RCA wanted to make the song not so heavy of a topic. So in the video we went with these little teeny girls gettin' cheated on by their boyfriends. It lightened it up a little bit, but that's not what the song is. I would have done that differently. But I can only argue so much, because the friggin' video has been on 'TRL' every day. So I can't say that they didn't do the right move. - Alex on Wherever You Will Go I'm real excited because we're going to about nine different countries next month after this tour. I actually got them to give us three days off at my family's castle in (Giove) Italy. My dad has this castle where every year I've gone and spent the summer in Europe staying there. It'll be cool to have my band come there. And it's all souped up with servants and all that. - Alex I think it's all weird - the whole state of radio and MTV. Even the Linkin Parks of the world - it's like the biggest selling record of last year, the rock smash. But now you turn on KISS-FM and all the pop stations and it's almost so rock that it's pop. So, I don't think badly of it. I think it's really goofy that the NSYNCs of the world are that popular. That's the bizarre part. But, we're standing with the basic premise of what MTV was built on, you know, which were little rock and roll bands. And I guess at the end of the day, whatever's gonna reach out to more people up to the point of losing credibility is all cool. I'm not interested in crossing that line. - Aaron September 11 was the first day of our tour, which made it all very interesting. But people are listening to the lyrics now and saying, �Wow, I can relate to this because of everything's that happened. - Alex I hope it comes across as transcendent of everything - age, nationality, race, and religion. - Aaron on the vibe of the album It's really about being outcast and not being able to live your life normally because you're different. - Alex on Stigmatized Most of the songs on Camino Palmero revolve around faith, and being outcast for your beliefs. - Alex Pearl Jam is in the most ideal state ever. They do things the way they want to do it. They work hard on their product. They don't wait forever to put out another record. They have the same success on every record, and a great group of fans. I'd love to see that. - Alex on where would he like to see The Calling in the future We wrote a lead song for a movie, with Freddie Prinze Jr. and we actually gave the song to a different band on RCA. Nothing very big, you know, little things, we're just starting to start writing for other things. But in the future, I think we will for bigger bands maybe? - Alex It's very flattering. I think a lot of bands, when they're compared, they say, "No, we're different." I do think we're different, but to be compared to other great bands, it's very flattering. - Alex on being compared to Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20 For my taste, I think his vocals are a little too overpowered, I think I have more of a range. But it's still flattering because Scott Stapp is a great singer and Creed has sold like 50 million records. - Alex on being compared to Scott Stapp of Creed It was great, it was our first touring experience and it was good to open for them, to win over their audience! To get their audience interested in us too, I know that's not a really nice thing to do but I like their music a lot too. - Alex on touring with Lifehouse Yeah, we have fans that will follow us thousands of miles, everywhere. Some of them would even fly across the United States. I have a tattoo on my wrist of the band's symbol, and a lot of times, fans would come to me and say, "Look what I got," and they have the same tattoo! (laughs) Then I'm like, "That was stupid!" - Alex So you know, crazy stuff like that. We get lots of gifts, letters and people bake us cookies! Only nice stuff, we haven't had any really scary fans. Sometimes, we have fans steal things from us. They want belongings -- they sold Aaron's camera once! They developed the pictures and put them online! - Alex on fans I haven't had too much time to see lots of bands. Oh! I went to Alien Ant Farm, they were good! They're silly, but they put on a good show, I like their record. Me and my girlfriend went to see Nelly Furtado in Los Angeles when I was home for a week. I was disappointed, her show was not good for me. But I like her record. - Alex I think [it's bad on] the days when you wake up at 6 to do radio and you do stations and you do in-stores and you do all the stuff then you play the show at night.
