| I think the first time I heard Green Day, I was 14. I had just started High School, and "Dookie" had just come out. It was contraversal, it was catchy, and it was GOOD. I, myself, had been raised to not stand out. So when I started dressing "punk", I felt like myself. My parents, on the other hand, felt like I needed an excorcist. I never did the crazy hair or heavy piercings, but I did have unneccesarily ripped clothing, patches up the wazoo, and saftey pins everywhere (??? What where we thinking? I dunno, it was cool at the time...). Before long, though, I got more into hip hop and R& B. They had more hits, so I kind of forgot about Green Day for a year. I wasn't allowed to go to concerts or anything, so I just forgot. Instead, we listened to what was hot at the moment. There was Biggie, the man formerly known as Puff Daddy, the man formerly known as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Mary J, Ma$e, Tupac, Bone Thugs, & LOTS more. The only other rock bands that really struck a chord with me (excuse the pun) were Live, and NIN. But they, too, dimmed. My pants went from ripped to baggy, shirts from funky to baggy, and shoes went from Converse and Puma to Adidas, Fila, and Nike. Now, although my parents still didn't think a girl should dress this way, they figuered it was better than the previous style, and let me be. I am grateful, though, because the jumping around music styles made me more open for the future, although while in school, you stood loyal to your group. You were either Rock, or Rap. And so were your friends. That's how it was in the 90's. It's different now, though. Now, you're cool if you steal your big brothers' CD's so you can learn all the dirty words that they leave out on the radio. I seriously don't know why they even bother with censorship. Anyways, the other reason I'm grateful is it put me in the position to learn about the world of lowriders and tuners. As soon as I got my first car, I had neon, a system, and rims put on, and started hanging out with car clubs. The first one I was in was called Infinity Car Club. They were mostly lowriders, as that was cooler than tuners at the time. My car is an SUV, so it fit better anyways. Then I started my own club, with my then-boyfriend and my best friend. We broke it up, because the two of them constantly fought about who made what decisions for the club. Now, years later, my fiance is part of New Era Kreations, a tuners car club (for more info, see the 'about us' page). I still have a system and neon, but I haven't had rims in a long time... too expensive for tires. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Then, a few years ago, I remember thinking to myself, "What ever happened to Green Day? I haven't bought an album in years...", and went and bought Dookie again (where the other copy went, I have no idea). I had heard a few songs from them (Good Riddance was our "Class Song" when I graduated in '98), but nothing held with me like Dookie. Then, in 2003, there was buzz that they're coming out with a new album. I fell in love with the song American Idiot right away. Now that I am me, not part of a group trying to be cool, I can proudly state my religeous and political views (like, I don't believe in religeon and am VERY liberal), I thought the song was amazing, and it stuck to me like white on rice. I got the album the day it came out, and I don't think it has been out of the CD player many times. I made SEVERAL copies, so that I would have a copy for work, the house, my boyfriends' house, and I also put them into my mp3 player. I also bought Bullet in a Bible, which is a live concert from England, which includes some songs from other CD's and a DVD. Bryan and I also went to the American Idiot Tour concert when the were here. BEST...CONCERT...EVER. I wished I could follow them city to city, but alas, the job, daughter, and boyfriend would not allow that. If you like thier music, you would LOVE their show. I had gotton us standing room tix, so we were about 6 or 8 feet away from the stage. Soooo cool. The only thing that I would have changed about the show, is that I TOTALLY wish that it had been like a 18 yrs and up concert. It pissed me off hearing 12 year olds singing songs that they know NOTHING about. But they wouldn't make as much money if they did that, and they have to make money to stay in the game, so... vicious cycle. Now I hear they're back in the studio again, after picking up ANOTHER Grammy (the AI Album's 2nd trip there- most of their Grammys came from the 2005 Grammys) for Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I am so psyched to hear what they come up with next... And if you are wondering, I love ALL the songs on AI, but Whatsername is my favorite! |

| I'm not one of those meanies that hopes he gets divorced just so I can marry him (I would never meet him anyways), he has a beautiful wife (Adrienne), and two young boys. It's just mean-spirited to think that way, but a girl can wish, right? Bryan teases me all the time for being so obsessed, and if I ever get extra passionate with him, he's like, "Are you thinking of Billie Joe?". It's funny. You don't have to agree with me, but it's my opinion that counts for me... HE IS FRICKIN' HOTT!!! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
