In Unison History/Background
Since 1992 In Unison has been providing services in residential care homes, and it was there that we gained an understanding of the difficulties and fear individuals experience when they prepare to move into their own home or apartment. We then began developing a plan to provide personalized training and support to bridge the caverns of complications and problems. Thus, in 1996 we added a vital continuation component to our curriculum, Independent Living Services, so individuals with unique challenges could be assisted to achieve greater happiness and contentment through independence.
In Unison's Independent Living Services emphasize:
1. Rights of all persons to be involved and make choices
2. Abilities rather than disabilities
3. Utilization of skills which improve independence, productivity, positive sense of selfworth; and
4. Integration into life's normal rhythms.
