Matthew 23:28

Even so you too outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Acts 8:9-23

Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is the divine power known as the Great Power.”

They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic. But when they believed Phillip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized both men and women. Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw. When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part to share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.

For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”

(=THINK IT OVER=)

All these verses talk about people who are two faced; they are nice and perfect at church or around church people and then they turn around and their whole attitude changes towards life. They don’t care about cussing, lying and other things that they KNOW they wouldn’t do in front of their church friends. Do you think that it is right to be a “Judas”? Which is basically what it is! We are one way one moment, and then BAMB we betray Jesus and everything He’s taught us!

These are great examples of people being fake! Simon was willing to pay dirty, used money for the Holy Spirit.  We all have to realize how two-faced we look when we talk about people, or make fun of people, or act like plain ol’ hypocrites. Anybody can wear a cross or go to church. But you aren’t setting the best example when you do those things and then go out and use the Lord’s name in vain, and cuss people out. You’d be better off hiding your faith!!! No I am NOT saying to hide your faith. That’s not something you should do. But you shouldn’t pretend you’re a Christian one day and say all those Gosh Darnits another! You could be pushing an atheist who wants to believe in something, away. You never know who is looking towards YOU for an example. So you have to try to be a good example ALL the time. Not just when you are at church or around churchy people. The Lord realizes that none of us humans are perfect. Not even close. But our goal should be to be as much like Jesus as possible. And it IS possible to try. And I know that I can start right now by going the rest of the month without talking behind anyone’s back, without using the Lord’s name in vain (sorry that one just really bothers me), I can go a month without lying, I can do all these things. But I can’t do them alone. I NEED Jesus’ help, everyone does.

~~~
*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:
 Are there times where you are like that? I know a lot of us can be. But maybe if we tried to bring that church life, into our everyday lives. Wouldn’t that work? I challenge you today to do just that.
~~~

&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:

Dear Lord, I pray that I will not be a hypocrite that I will be true to you and true to myself. I love you and I pray this in Jesus name, amen.

Psalm 139:13-14

For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb, I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

- NIV

Romans 8:29

For whom he foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed of His Son, that He might be the first born among MANY brethren.

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

~~~
(=THINK IT OVER=)
Ever had a time where you wish you were different? I have. But you know, if God wanted you to be different don’t you think He would have changed you a long time ago? He created you in your mother’s womb He planned out who you would be. You don’t need to change who you are for other people to like you because they need to like you for YOU! God loves you, he always has! He predestined you before the earth was ever here to be one of his children!!! He sent His ONLY SON (at that time) to come and die for you! Now that's some pretty powerful love don't you think? The people in the world look at the outside of you, the way you dress, how you wear your make-up etc. But God looks at your INSIDE. He knows who you really are, and He loves you for the person that you are.
I have a friend who I am going to mention. She has been going through this same exact thing. She asked a friend if he thought she was feminine. Now she should have prepared for the answer, but anyways; he said, “Well, you look feminine, but sometimes you don’t act like it. Your hair isn’t very feminine but you walk feminine.” Now that made her and me kinda mad, because she had liked this guy for a while. But you know, she came out of that; hurt, but she said, “I am not going to change for him, he needs to like me for who I am.”
~~~

*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:

I ENCOURAGE you do be un-normal, a freak, an outcast, FOR GOD. Be yourself!!! Who cares what other people think of you, the only thoughts of you that really count are the ones from God. People can call you names and put you down but God will ALWAYS think the same thing of you, you are His child, you always will be, and nothing will separate that love.

~~~
&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:
Dear Lord, I thank you that I am unique, I thank you for making me the way I am. I will not change my personality just because other people don’t like it. I thank you for everything that you have done for me, especially for making me who I am. In Jesus name, amen.
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Love: John 13:34a
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another.
Joy: Proverbs 17:22
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bone.
Peace: Ephesians 2:14a
For He himself is our peace.
Patience: 1 Peter 2:20
For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.
Kindness: Ephesians 4:32
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ has also forgiven you.
Goodness: Amos 5:14
Seek good and not evil, that you may live; and thus may the Lord God be with you, just as you have said.
Faithfulness: Revelation 2:10
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Gentleness: Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the gentle for they shall inherit the earth.
Self-control: 1 Corinthians 7:5
Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again lest saten tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
--- 2 Peter 1:5-9
For this very reason make every effort to add to your fait goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten hat he has been cleansed from his past sins.
~~~

(=THINK IT OVER=)

The verses just explain everything! Up there I have a verse for each fruit. All of these are essential to our daily lives! When you become a Christian you receive the Holy Spirit and once you receive the Holy Spirit these are the fruits that you will start to bear. No sometimes it will not come naturally; sometimes you need to pray over these things, which Danielle has found out while being at camp. But once you start to pray for the spirit to let your fruit bear then he will do that for you! You need to abide by these scriptures every single stinkin day! Even when life is kicking you in the booty you need to show these fruits. When you abide by these scriptures the light of Jesus will shine EMENCLY through everything you do!

In 2nd Peter chapter one verses five thru nine, it talks about how if you have one of these things, you will ought to have another. If you have faith, you should have goodness too. If you have goodness, well then what about knowledge? The list goes on and on like that, and we should really start applying these things to our lives!

~~~
*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:
I challenge you, that whenever you have your prayer time, to pray for God to let your fruit shine. When you wake up I want you to wake up with a smile on your face!
~~~

&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for today and everything that you have given me. I pray that my life will be a light to everyone around me. That I would grow in you and bear fruit all the time. I thank you and praise you for all that you have done for me. In Jesus' name, amen.

Mark 13:32-37

“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back --- whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone:

‘Watch!’”

1 Thessalonians 5:2

For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

~~~
(=THINK IT OVER=)
 I especially liked the lesson in Mark. It gives us a little story to help us understand His point. Pretty much it means that we’re not supposed to let our guards down. It clearly states that no one, not the angels, nor Jesus (the Son) know when He will come back. Only God (the Father) knows. And if Jesus doesn’t even know, then how can we possibly predict the time? That is why we must always be ready for it! We must never let Him come back and find us sleeping. It’s actually okay if you’re literally snoozing when he comes to take all of the believers to Heaven. But figuratively speaking- we should be telling everyone we know that HE IS COMING BACK. And even people we don’t know need to know also right? But I think that if you tell the people you know, it will be like a chain reaction. After all, we want all of the people we know to be in Heaven with us right? There is something called the Elijah Generation. It is supposedly the main generation that will prepare the way for Jesus, just like John did. You can see it all the time, more and more people are getting saved! We are the Elijah Generation, we need to let everyone know that our Savior is coming back to take us home!
~~~

*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:

Be ready for Jesus to come back, be prepared and hungry for His return! I am so excited about Jesus coming back, and you know, He may not even come while I am alive! But I am still excited and I try to tell every one I can. So I encourage you to do the same, let everyone know what’s to come!

~~~
&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:
Dear Lord, I am so excited about your return. I pray that you will give me the words to say when I tell people about your return. I can’t wait for you to come, what a wonderful day that will be!! I thank you for sending your ONLY son to die for me and that he will keep his promise and come back for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Jeremiah 20:8-9
Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction. So the word of the Lord has brought me insult and reproach all day long. But if I say, “I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,” his word in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
Proverbs 29:23
A man’s pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.
~~~

(=THINK IT OVER=)

Embarrassment isn't fun at all.

I remember a time when I was telling my friend about Christ... and she played along than "prayed" with me... only minutes later she told me she went along with it to make me shut up... now that was embarrassing... it made me mad/sad inside... I didn't know what to do but pray. And today this girl is a very godly young lady and we are like sisters! God will work through your embarrassment.

When the disciples were embarrassed, what did they do?? Did they run and hide in a closet?? No! They kept going, they were strong and endured every bit of it! And we can do that too. But you know, when we talk to people about God, and they just aren't ready to receive it, and they tell you to shut up or they call you a freak you need to let them be. Because that is when God will work in them. Just look at my friend today!!

Now I’m not really sure if Jeremiah 20:8-9 are the best verses that could be used, but I just feel like they kind of fit the topic. You have to think about them for a second. When we talk about the Lord to some people, all we’ll ever receive is negative words towards his name. We will be called all kinds of names. And sometimes the names we are called can embarrass us. This is normal--- I think! But after being humiliated like that, we CAN’T just go and turn our backs on God, because of what was said to us. It is said that we should actually pray for that embarrassment! Can you believe that? But in Proverbs is explains that unless we are embarrassed at some points, then our pride gets really high. A lot of pride is a really bad thing. It makes us think that we are in charge of everything, and we can do anything- by ourselves. We are unintentionally taking the glory away from Jesus when our pride is so high. So this is why we must be embarrassed every once in a while. It’s pretty much so we stay in reality, realizing who’s who, and what’s what. God’s the Father and we’re his children. And just like it is supposed to be- the Father is in charge!

~~~
*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:
When you are talking to people about God and they start putting you down for what you are talking about. Calling you a freak and saying you don’t know what you are talking about, don’t let it get to you! If they don’t want to hear it then that’s their loss!
~~~

&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:

Dear Lord, there are times when I get so embarrassed that I don’t know what to do… I feel like walking away and hiding in a closet. But I know that that’s not what you want me to do. You want me to move on. And I pray that you would help me to move on. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Ephesians 6:16-17

In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of saten.

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.

~~~
(=THINK IT OVER=)
The devil will tempt us from all directions. But we need to be ready!!! The Bible says that we need to take up our shield of faith, and when we do all of the fiery darts of saten will be extinguished.
When Paul was in jail, he was always around a roman soldier, so he used their armor as an example. When in war, the Romans had a shield that was dipped in water to extinguish the fiery arrows thrown by the enemy. Their shields could be linked together as a wall against the enemy, therefore protecting the Romans and giving them a better chance at winning.
The pieces of armor that I mentioned are some of the most important parts. The shield of faith, is- our faith obviously, the helmet is our salvation through Christ Jesus, and then the sword is the Bible.
The sword is our weapon against saten. Jesus used the “sword”-the word against saten when He was being tempted. And that’s exactly what we need to be doing also. In the Bible it also says that with every temptation there will be a way of escape. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
~~~

*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:

Whenever you feel tempted by the evil one, start quoting scripture verses to yourself. I encourage you to memorize the one I have typed up there and say it to yourself whenever temptation comes your way.

~~~
&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:
Dear Lord, the devil has been tempting me left and right, but in your word it says that with every temptation there is a way of escape that I will be able to bear it! I thank you Lord Jesus that you have given me a way out, I thank you Lord, for all that you have done in my life! Continue to bless me in your ways and keep me away from all of that temptation! In Christ’s name, amen!
Ephesians 6:13-17
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
--- KJV
~~~

(=THINK IT OVER=)

So for the verses in Ephesians 6:13-17 it pretty much explains itself.

It is talking about how you need to put on this "armor" every single day! We have to have truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation. Oh and don't you dare forget the sword of the Spirit- being the Word of God! But you know; the most important piece is the helmet. The helmet protects your head, which is virtually the most important part of your body. But if you only had a helmet and nothing else… you’d be defenseless. So we need that helmet of SALVATION and put our faith in Jesus, live in truth and we will have righteousness and we should read the word of God every day and use it to defeat the devil. Putting all of this armor on everyday, we will be in great shape!!! How will Satan ever be able to get to us? If we have all of our armor in place... there is absolutely no way he can!

~~~
*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:
I challenge you today to put on the FULL armor of God so that you can stand against the devil!!! When you live in truth, and righteousness, you have the peace of Jesus, when you put your faith in Him, and read your Bible and use it as a weapon against the enemy, nothing can stop you!
~~~

&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:

Dear Lord, I am going to put on ALL of the armor that Paul listed. I pray that no matter what comes my way; with my shield, shoes, helmet, sword, and belt, nothing will be able to overtake me!  I thank you for your gift of salvation, with out it…. I couldn’t use the rest of the armor. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Psalm 63:6-8

When I remember Thee on my bed, I meditate on Thee in the night watches, for Thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of Thy wings I sing for joy, my soul clings to Thee; Thy right hand upholds me.

Psalm 9:9

The Lord will also be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble, and those who know Thy name will put their trust in Thee; for Thou O Lord, hast not forsaken those who seek Thee.

Genesis 19:19

And it came about when they had brought them outside, that one of them said, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you, and do not stay anywhere in the valley; escape to the mountains, lest you be swept away.”

~~~
(=THINK IT OVER=)
A lot of people I know think that quiet time is a set time where you have 15 minutes for one thing 10 for another, etc. But I totally disagree. I think the quiet time is needed in life just to get away from things that are going on around you. It isn’t a set time to do something to read to pray or whatever, it’s a time where you and God are alone with no distractions talk about the things that are going on. You don’t just do it everyday and that makes you a good Christian. And you know; it’s not necessary to do it everyday! But the reason you have your “quiet time” is to spend time with God and really get away from the things that are bothering you. For example: I just went camping over the holiday and I was in a bad mood, I was arguing with the people around me and it was just a mess! So what I did was I walked away somewhere where nothing could distract me and I prayed and prayed and cried and prayed some more! And you know, that’s true quiet time; when you walk away from anger and temptation and spend time praying and letting God know what you are feeling. And asking Him to give you patience and get through it or whatever is needed!
The verse from Genesis is a good verse for this subject. We will say that the mountain is the “quiet place” where you are alone with no distractions. And this verse was in the story of Sodom and he was saying, “Get away!! Run away!” and that’s what we need to do when life is being a pain in the rear. We need to run away to the mountain!
~~~

*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:

Life can get so crazy sometimes, and sometimes you need to get away from it. I challenge you that whenever life is “beating you with a stick” to go off some where, where you can be totally alone and just talk to God and ask him for advice. IT’S THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO.

~~~
&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:
Dear Lord, I don’t like it when life kicks me in the rear, and I thank you that you are there when it does. I thank you that I can always talk to you when I need to get away from the things that are going on around me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
(Genesis 1:1-5)
Day two:
God created an expanse that he called the heavens to separate the waters above from the waters below.
(Genesis 1:6-8)
Day three:
God separated the land from the water and created all kinds of plants, fruit trees, and vegetables.
 (Genesis 1:9-13)
Day four:
 God created the sun, moon, and the stars. The sun he created to govern over the day and the moon to govern over the night.
(Genesis 1:14-19)
Day five:
 God created sea creatures small and great, and the birds that fly in the air. He blessed them and told them to multiply.
(Genesis 1:20-23)
Day six:
 God created cattle, crawling creatures, beasts of the earth, and finally: man. He looked upon everything and knew that it was very good, and He blessed it.
(Genesis 1:24-31)
Day seven:
 God rested from all that he had done for he was satisfied with what he had created. (Genesis 2:1-3)
~~~

(=THINK IT OVER=)

All of this is: pretty easily accepted by those who believe in the Lord. Lots of people seem to have no problem believing that God created this whole Earth in just 6 days.  In my opinion- after you learn and accept what we’re talking about today the rest should be a breeze!

For me, it’s much easier to accept a man who can perform miracles, or the world being flooded, than to accept someone breathing a few words and then creating millions of miles of land, and zillions of tons of water!!

But since this is in the Bible you can be 100% positive that it’s for real!

Picture this: the world being nothing at all… and then tiny little cells form out of completely nothing and those cells form into bigger things and those bigger things form into a monkey and then that monkey gradually forms into a man. You got that?? Good! Now picture this: A very big God who has told us that he can do anything imaginable says that he will create something and then he does it! Now yeah this may seem waaayyy too easy to decide… but which one seems easier to believe? In evolution it took a very long time for things to happen, but the way God did it, it only took 6 days. Which one do you think a 7 year old would choose? What did the Bible say about having the faith of a child?

Genesis 32:22:32

That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two maidservants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”

But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

The man asked him, “What is your name?”

“Jacob,” he answered.

Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.”

Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”

But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there.

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.

~~~
(=THINK IT OVER=)
Jacob had sent all of his stuff, along with his family across that stream so that he could be left alone a while. While he was alone he wrestled with a man. It was a VERY long fight. I’d imagine that the two were equally strong because neither could get the other down! But the man he was wrestling had some type of power, cause when he touched Jacob’s hip, he messed it up pretty badly. And finally the wrestling match ended.
The man was getting ready to go when Jacob told him that he wouldn’t let him leave unless the man blessed him. So the guy asks his name. Then he changes Jacob’s name to Israel. He changed it because Jacob, excuse me, Israel had struggled to overcome a whole bunch of battles with God and with men. Yet he had always gotten over them, or overcome. Then Jacob says, well what’s your name? (Funny how it takes him this long to ask). Yet the man doesn’t tell him. So I’m still not sure whom it was he fought with. Whether it was God, or just one of his angels??
Anyhow Jacob named the place Peniel, because he saw God face to face, and yet he didn’t die (Does that mean it was God he wrestled?????).
But even to this day some Israelites don’t eat the tendon attached to the hip, because of Jacob….uggghhh I meant Israel!
~~~

*~TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE*~:

Ever had a time where you think that God just doesn’t like to bless you? But if you asked for him to bless you then you would feel selfish?? Well don’t feel selfish!! He is there to give you the blessings all you gotta do is ask and receive!!

~~~
&+PRAY ABOUT IT+&:
Dear Lord, I know you have a blessing you want to give me, I pray that you would bless my life indeed and enlarge my territory that your hand would be with me, that I may see no evil and it may not cause pain. You blessed Jabez when he prayed this and now I want you to bless me. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
