He's real. Present tense. I have to get that out and up front. You're dealing with a person who believes that the Bible is true. I believe that Jesus lived, died, and through his own power as God, rose again. I believe that He lives today and will forever, and that I will be able to prove it by documenting every single second of 'forever' when I die. Jesus exists. To understand Jesus you need to get with a friend and take off all your clothes. Then get some jello pudingany flavor will do. Apply the jello to your abdomens and sing any Elvis song. Both of you cannot sing the same song. 'Blue Suede Shoes' doesn't count because it sucks. Take pictures. If this doesn't work, disregard the above and buy a Bible. Send pictures to: Kelsick J. Franklin, p.o. box 200. New Jessup GA, 32588 What about Jesus? Jesus is our buddy. More than that, Jesus is our chance to live forever. I don't mean to sound like a leech, but Jesus is there to be taken advantage of. According to the state of humanity, Jesus is the only way we can achieve immortality.
I know that this is sounding really obscure, and fantastic, but it's true. Human beings were originally designed by God to live forever. After we commited a spiritual offense, God disengaged our spirit leaving us weak and mortal. When the first man, Adam, sinned for the very first time (he had a severe warning not to) all of humanity (both of them) were cut off from immortality. In God's eyes we didn't deserve to live. We were like a malfunctioned machine. Imagine a modem that keeps calling Tibet instead of the internet server. You'd disconnect it wouldn't you? That's how we aredisconnected form God. The entire Old Testament is all about our puny struggle to connect ourselves back to God. Failure. It's almost frustrating seeing how, time after time, men entered into a contract with God and kept falling out. Finally, God devised a plan. This is what 'Christians' mean when they say the plan of salvation. It's the way home. First you have to be in a mindset that when you die, by default you go to Hell. Then you have to decide that eternal damnation and what the Bible calls 'burning' is a bad thing. Hell is where humans go when they die. It's like a big dumpster. Total and permanent separation from God. In a world where selfishness is encouraged and love means sex, we can't really understand when we learn that 'God is a God of love'. Immediately we say "Well if He loves me then why did this or that happen?" That's like a child saying "If mommy loves me, then why does she make me take that disgusting medicine." Most tiny children don't have mature, developed thoughts and for that instant, the child honestly thinks that he has been betrayed by his mother. How else is a 'normal' child supposed to react to pain and discomfort? In much the same way, people question painful events in their lives that don't make sense to them. Because of their idea and perception of love, they convoince themselves that pain is not included in Love. God is a God of Love. Because He loves us, He has forgiven the past, and all the malicious things people have done to dishonour Him. (Read the Bible to learn about this. People did some really messed up stuff to God, and they actually knew they were doing it...Including trying to rape angels and deliberate disobeience to God's design)
