When I found out I was in pregnant, I was shocked but also overjoyed. I had been on birth control pills and just wasn't sure I was really pregnant. I bought 5 pregnancy tests and took them to make sure. I didn't really understand it at the time (and still don't really) how it had taken so long to conceive my other 3 children with no birth control at all, but I conceived TJ while on the Pill.
None the less, I was still happy! I couldn't wait to be a family of 6! I have always wanted lots of children and I guess my dream was coming true!
It was a rough pregnancy! About a month after finding out I was pregnant, my husband got called to Active Duty. It was hard to see him go, but knew he wouldn't be to far away because he was only going to Ft. Campbell Kentucky. But then on May 14, he had to leave for Kuwait. Boy was that day hard!!!
Over the summer, I did my best at taking care of myself and my other 3 children. It was hard with ball games, and summer activities but we did it. I tried to keep the news off of the TV so that the kids wouldn't see it.
I had a lot of problems throughout my pregnancy. We found out early on that I had Placenta Previa and also a Cyst on my right ovary. They thought for sure the Placenta would move itself up and everything would be ok. I also think I had a touch of PreEclampsia because of blood being in my urine every month.
But somehow he survived through it all. On August 26, I woke up that morning, like any other morning. I talked on the phone to my husband and then went to make the kids some Kool Aid. As I was walking back to the sink I noticed red spots in the floor. I looked down at my hand to make sure the cherry kool aid pack wasn't opened and then looked at myself. I was bleeding! I got so scared but was trying not to let the kids see how scared I was. My 10 year old doesn't like the sight of blood and he kept asking where was it coming from. It was all over my gown! So I called my sister n law and asked her to take me to the hospital....After what seemed like forever, they finally admitted me and said that everything looked ok, I just had some bleeding due to the Placenta Previa. I stayed in the hospital for a few days and was sent home on bedrest.
On August 29, 2003, my husband came home on Emergency Leave from Kuwait. Boy it sure was good to see him! I was sad that he had to come home under these conditions but I was so scared and was glad to have him by my side.
My doctor decided it would be best to do a c-section and take TJ early because of the complications.
On September 15, 2003 I went in to have the c-section. Everything went well and at only 3 weeks early, my baby boy was born at 8:28 a.m. Everything seemed fine. His APGAR scores were 9 and 9 and he was perfect. Looking back now, it upsets me because they never put a cap on his head.
Later that day when I asked for them to bring him to my room, they said they couldn't because his body temp was low (my sister n law said it was 91). I was worried but not to worried because he seemed fine.
We got to come home on Wednesday and of course we were busy bees. Family came over, not only to see him but also to see my husband while he was home.
On Saturday, we had a birthday party for my oldest son and my nephew. Life was so good! I was hurting some from the C-Section but I was on cloud 9. Could life get any better?
Saturday night, our school had its annual Fall Carnival. It was so nice showing off our kids. Someone had came up to my husband and asked him how many kids did we have now and he said 4. It felt so strange to hear him say 4 but I just grinned from ear to ear. I was so happy!
On Sunday morning we went to church and had him dedicated. Whenever my babies are born we always have them dedicated the first Sunday I am back at church. That night my church had a baby shower for us and it was so nice. Little did I know the next day would be the worst day of my life!!!
