Steve's Column

Before you begin to read my column, there is one thing you must keep in mind. These are strictly my opinions, thus if you find any of this offensive, this page is not for you. You need to be an open-minded person and understand that every one has the right to their own opinion's and freedom of speech in this country. Each week there will be an issue that is talked about. Again, these are simply my views on what is going on in the world around me. It can involve current events, political issues, sports, games, etc. Enjoy!

I'm sure you have read in other parts of this site that I am looking for a job. Let me tell you this whole hunting for a job thing is new for me. I'm one of those people who go into a job and either get hired on the spot or are hired after the first interview. I'm not used to going to several interviews and still not knowing if I'm hired, or having to fill out more then 3 applications out before getting hired. I know you probably don't want to hear about my struggle for employment, but I am going somewhere with this.

I have figured out why I am having so many problems. It's due to a lot of big corporation's picking up and moving overseas. This is ripping a lot of people out of their trade jobs and forcing the to take what ever job they can. Now while this is good for the countries that these businesses are going to it's killing us. The other day I seen on TV that radio flyer [the maker of the classic little red wagon] was moving over seas. They say, "it's to stay competitive". With who I have to ask? The only competition I can think they would have would be rubber maid. I also had seen a campaign for Senator Kerry stating that President Bush passed several bills to make it easier for companies to make that hurtful move.

The problem started out when we let big business beat out most of our Mom and Pop companies. Now that they run most of the money flow their thirst for more money is not satisfied. They know they can move to another country and pay there workers much less then they have to pay here. With America's cheep import fees they save so much money it's insane. What cost cutting measures will they take next?

Final Thought:
I have come up with the answer. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need to ban together and boycott any company that picks up and moves out of the country to save a buck. Haven't they thought about if they take the jobs away who will have money to even buy there product? It's quite obvious they haven't.
