| I have been fishing this lake since i was about 6 and i love it. The cubby little brooks in this small lake are great fun to catch. The best time to fish this lake is July. "A 6-acre hike-in brook trout lake, 3 miles south of the columbia gorge...... ......Fish average is about 9 inches, but the occasional 16 incher is taken. The lake is stocked every other year." There are 3 trails to access this lake one is a 4-mile hike from the gorge, the second is a 1.5 mile hike from rainy lake, and the third is hidden on an access road it is 1-mile. To get to rainy lake from the town of Dee, drive north about 2 miles towards punchbowl falls and pick up forest service road 2820, fallow this road for 10-miles and you will appear at the campground. |

| FLY FISHING ONLY To access the best spots you need a float tube, due to the fact that the lake shore is mostly reeds, grass, and a muddy bottom, it is difficult to wade. Rainbow (up to 5 lbs.) and largemouth bass inhabit this lake. The average depth of this lake is 9ft. with 20ft. being the deepest. May - October is the time to fish, you can find weekly fishing reports here. The best places to fish are: The northeast end near the lava dam; the west shore between Ranger and Moore Creeks and in the Odell creek channel. Equipment: 4-7wt. rods, 12 foot leaders, Good Fly patterns: Dry-Two Feather, Thorax callibaetis, and Compara-Dun. Wet-Soft hackle hares ear, Prince Nymph, and Damsel nymphs. | This is a small(5-7 feet wide) creek at a CG(free) off Hwy. 216. This creek holds both Rainbow and Brook trout, but the Brooks are more abundant. There is a trail(Clear ck. No. 487) on the other side of the creek from the CG that follows the creek for about 1 mile. Above the CG the water breaks into 3 or 4 branches and is too shallow for good fishing. Although this creek has tons of riffles, pools, and down trees it also has tons of horse flys, mosqitios, and bushes. The water here is very cold, even during the summer, but barable enough so that you can cross the creek. Any log that has slow moving water and shade on it is most likely going to hold 3 or 4 fish. Largest fish i have caught here was 8". Adams and mosqitios are they key to getting agressive strikes. A good fishery for the small stream fisher. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
