NMSP asks SPDC for trial reduction to Nai Yetka and group’s death sentence

New Mon State Party (NMSP) officially sent a request letter to the regime
in Rangoon from trail reduction of death sentence to its two members, Nai
Yetkha and Nai Cheam Gakao, who are accused of assassination of military top
leaders.
The military court in notorious Inn-Sein prison put trial to them and other
7 suspects and decided for death sentence. Because of unfair trial, NMSP asks
the regime for official meeting and to reduce trail term by sending an official
request letter.
The spokesman of NMSP, Nai Aye Mon, said what are containing in the letter
as “we think it is not necessary to give death sentence. NMSP asked
(the military government) to meet them, but they (the authorities) have never
permitted. Anyhow, they should inform to the party that what is their real
trial, why the punishment is too serious. We would like to clear on these
things.”
Even though Nai Yetkha family and NMSP have asked the regime two times for
meeting, but they were not allowed. Some young Mon civil society groups also
requested by official letters to NMSP to help in this Nai Yetkha and his group’s
trial case.
Mon Young Monk Union, Mon Youth Organizations (various townships), Mon Students
Union and Mon Young Women Organization involved in requesting NMSP to help
in trail case.
