NMSP Just Gives Name List of Delegates to National Convention

December 8, 2003

After holding a Central Committee meeting, the New Mon State Party just gives the name list of delegates for the National Convention that has been requested by the military government in November, confirmed by NMSP spokesperson Nai Aye Mon.

NMSP holds its CC meeting in the top of Ye river, where their General Headquarters base on December 5 and decided to just give the name list of the delegates to the NC.

Mr. Nai Aye Mon said, “it is not meant we will surely attend the National Convention. We may have to inquiry about the NC that whether we can discuss every issue freely or not, whether the right decisions are made or not, and we may need to know the NC regulations first. If these points are acceptable for the party, then we may attend the NC”.

Accordingly to the name list given by the NMSP, an Executive Committee member Nai Cham Toi will lead the delegations and other members are: Maj. Gen. Aung Naing, Brigadier Lawi Ong, CC member Nai Tala Nyi and Nai Tin Hla. NMSP sent name list of delegates on December 7.

Mr. Nai Aye Mon also added, the NMSP also wanted the other political parties in the country to attend this NC and hence, the people could accept it as a genuine National Convention.
