TOPIC: WHY DOES GOD LET US SUFFER?
Mankind values knowledge, intelligence, power, money, sexual fulfillment, a
full stomach, leisure, prestige and a whole host of other things---non of
which has led him to a long and fulfilling life because he has rejected the
very One who can give him all of those things and much, much MORE.
Adam and Eve lived in paradise and never had to do any tedious work; we know
they didn't have to do any tedious work because when God cursed them, one of
the things He decreed was that they would have to do tedious and ultimately
fruitless work (see Genesis 3:17-19).
Because of Eve's choice, she ended up having to do something she apparently wasn't originally intended to do; become SUBJECT TO HER HUSBAND (see Genesis 3:16--read the whole
verse!) a thing that was only brought about by her rejection of
God!! Not only that, her children would have a hard life, some of
whom would murder, some of whom would be murdered. Adam and Eve's actions became the
foundation for all the world's troubles and the root of sorrows. The irony is
we reject the very things we all aspire to!
Can you believe it??? We rejected paradise! We rejected
Life. Thus, to this very day we pay the consequences, for when you
reject God you reject Good. When you disbelieve God, you believe the
devil. When you reject life, you accept death (and
all that leads up to it). In
Proverbs 1:22-33 God spoke through Solomon, summarizing the consequences of the rejection of God.
God sent Christ so that we would have power to make the right choice, because
obviously, we don't know how on our own. He came so that we would have
Salvation! What is the root word of salvation? SALVAGE. As
in when you go to the JUNKyard to salvage something that is pretty messed
up! God is going to send Christ again (see the topic: The Kingdom of God) so that He will become King of kings and Lord of
lords and literally give us all a REST from our evil ways of thinking and
doing!
