Diary Week Three
Day 15
|
Friday, 30th July, 2004Id got up quite late and took the photos during the siesta in the early afternoon before making my way back to Gwesty Tywi, and loading them up onto the computer. I was whiling away the hours typing up a diary entry on the laptop when it suddenly made a funny noise and went blank. I tried to start it up again, but nothing was happening. It was working from the battery, though, which I didnt understand. I decided just to put it away and get on the day. Sort it out another time. As I was off to Trelew for the folk dancing class in the evening, I had to have food early and as the only places open in the late afternoon are the tea-shops, I wandered round to Ty Gwyn for the tea and cakes. On the way down, I ran into Meirion again and we stopped and had a brief conversation walking along the riverbank. Ty Gwyn was very nice and Welsh with the usual tea-towels and photos hanging from the walls and a looped tape of Welsh music. It was pretty busy, with three or four family groups arriving in the hour that I was drinking my tea and tapping my foot along to Men of Harlech. After tea, literally, I took the bus into Trelew and killed time by popping to the internet cafe for half an hour to check my mail before going along to the folk dancing class at San David. I was the first to arrive and had to hang around for a few minutes in the cold before the others started filtering in. Id expected that someone would be there teaching, but it turns out that they learn their moves for new dances from a videotape and they take notes on what happens. Having two left feet, dancing isnt really my forte, but the only problem I had was with following instructions in Spanish, cue occasional wrong turns and bumps into people. Ah well. Afterwards, I was invited to a party (as in blancmange and cakes) on Sunday and given a lift back to the bus station to make sure that I could get the 9:30 bus back to Gaiman and the expensive plastic brick lying on my bed.
