Diary Week Six
Day 43
|
Friday, 27th August, 2004So, thatll be getting up quite late and spending too much time chatting to mates on the internet then! First of all, though, was getting the money issue sorted after losing my wallet in Ushuaia. As itll take some time for my cards to get through to me in Trelew, I had to find somewhere to change my Travellers Cheques (lucky I bought them, then!) so that I could afford to do, well, anything at all. Unfortunately, the place recommended by American Express no longer handles them, but they pointed me in the direction of a travel agents which does, so I pottered along there. They hardly offered me a good deal, but some money is better than no money, so I bit their hand off and walked out with a few hundred pesos - enough to cover me for a couple of weeks of spending, but some quick mental arithmetic figured it was a disappointing figure overall, especially with a months rent coming up. Time to get frugal! After that, the regular trip to the internet, where I got up to date with, well, everything that needed to be doing, and then down to the gym. Having been away for a while, a big shopping trip needed to be done, so I chucked whatever I could in the shopping basket. More little pizzas, veggie hamburgers, milanesas de soya (normal milanesas are meat in breadcrumbs), the usual junk food - my most expensive visit to the supermarket since leaving Russell Street. A bit more time on the internet, pretending to do some "real" work, then I went along to the Welsh nursery to see how everyone was getting on after me being away for effectively a fortnight. As Beca and Sara were leaving, we went to the Touring Club for a coffee at about 7:30, which made Romina and myself a little late for the folk dancing at 7:45. We arrived in the hall at about five past eight, and found only two others awaiting us - no point in being concerned about being late then! When everyone else arrived, we had a good session - we almost have the dance right, although I get confused every now and again, and everyone else just gets dizzy at the end. Still, well get there in the end! Tired from the trip, I had a bit of an early night - no reading today!
