Got up early to go with Carwyn, Alicia and Rhian on a tour of the Chubut Valley, intending to end up at the cemetery and village of 28 de Julio/Tir Halen at the far end.

We set off from Trelew at nine, stopping on the outskirts of Gaiman so that I could take a photo of the sign with Trelew on one side and Esquel on the other. After heading through Gaiman itself, we took some of the surface roads to see the chapel at Bryn Crwn, including a memorial stone to the Welsh founders.

Next stop on the trip was the church at Bethesda, a little further along, followed by further stops at Glan Alaw and San David, as I built up my collection on the "Welsh Church Circuit".

We went through Dolavon, stopping to have a look at another church and after that, we visited the chapel at Tir Halen and then went up to the village cemetery, wonderfully isolated away from the rest of the world.

We then headed across to 28 de Julio, visiting the village museum, which featured young photos of many of the more famous faces in the Valleys Welsh community and then to Casa Amarilla, the oldest building in the village.

On the way back we stopped for tea with the Jones family in Dolavon over lunch, with Ieuan Jones showing us some of his short stories and tall tales about life in the Valley.

After arriving back in Trelew, I made a short, sharp trip to the gym before going to the Literary Meeting in the church vestry at 3:30.

There were fewer people present than at the previous meeting, so I ended up taking on one of the roles in the play that was being read, a kitchen-sink drama by Wil Sam from north Wales (in Welsh, obviously). That was fun, long time since I was on the stage! lol

After that finished, I went to check my e-mail and found seven different responses from people wanting to talk to me in English or Welsh. Never felt so popular...even if one of them was from the same person using different e-mail addresses.

I scribbled some quick notes of introduction back to people, until I was interrupted by one of them turning up on-line on my messenger. A quick chat later, and Alan Hughes was on his way down to meet me at the cyber cafe for a bilingual Welsh-Spanish conversation. Cool.

We went off for a chat and a quiet pint in Genesis, underneath the cinema, before I left to go to my folk dancing class.

Nothing much happened in the class, most of which turned into discussion about venues for events and clothing.

I then met up with Alan again afterwards and went to his house for dinner with his parents, both of whom also have learnt Welsh. A couple of pizzas later and a flick through the record collection (Tystion! Eirin Peryglus!) and we headed off to go and play pool at Genesis and out for the night.

We played pool for about an hour and a half and then went to Margaritas, which had got busy by then, before visiting El Establo, and having a bit more to drink, dance and shout about.

After that, my memory gets a bit vague, but Im sure my Spanish conversation skills improved after my fifth Quilmes ;)
