From what has been found so far, it appears that the Marshalls have moved around during their time and it is strange that I should now find myself living in the North West, when only recently it was discovered that my Great Grandfather George Marshall was born in Lancashire (according to the 1901 census) around 1867. |

Assuming the 1901 census to be correct (dangerous to assume anything in family history I know), George moved from Lancashire and ended up in Bedford where he met his wife to be Susan Jessup. Susan was born in Illington, Norfolk around 1877, and married George on 6th May 1901 at the Bedford Registry Office, both being listed as living at 8 Commercial Road, Bedford at that time. Georges occupation at various points in time seems be given fairly consistantly as either a gardner or florist or both. |

On 15th July 1906, my Grandfather Harold was born to George and Susan at Nettleham Road, Lincoln. It is known that Harold had a sister, Florence Edith who was born on the 24th May 1902 in Bedford and a brother George Edwin born 1st May 1904 in Nettleham. Harold turned out to be a very keen gardner like his father and managed a large area of land behind his house Sunny Nook on High Street, Reepham. |

In 1928, Harold married Annie Mary Brooks and shortly afterwards on 23rd December, my Dad, Alan was born. My Dad grew up in the village of Reepham and went to De Aston Grammar School in Market Rasen. At the age of 18 he joined the Fleet Air Arm and served with them for 7 years before joining A.V.Roe at Bracebridge Heath in Lincoln as an electrician. It was here that he was to meet and marry Pamela Cole. |
